Earlier this week, I did a review on the effect of the post positions in the past Bluegrass Stakes and Bluegrass Oaks. In the article, relating to the Derby, I made the comment “I’d roll a 20-sided dice and hope it is correct” as no post position showed any advantage compared to any other starting spot.<\/p>\n
I’ve heard stories where they have had a monkey that picks stocks out of the Wall Street Journal. The monkeys picks turned out to perform better than the professionals that follow the market after the year was over.<\/p>\n
Sitting here on the eve of the big races, I’ve decided to put the dice to the test. Can a random roll of the dice actually pick winners better than those of us who sit here and study the racing program for hours? So I went and found an old game with the 20-sided die, dusted it off, and after a few shakes in hand, gave it a toss. <\/p>\n
