Dropping back by nearly 12 lengths in the early stages, the doubts were in the air of the expectant Big Apple crowd. After all, ErPeg had failed to fire in the Sand Castle Classic in Dubai last out, finishing an uncharacteristic fifth. If he didn&#8217;t fire against this Grade\u00a02 field, maybe there was something wrong with him.<\/P><P>Forget that. ErPeg came running with eye-catching speed that easily corralled the second-place finisher, <EM>Cobra Kai Stable&#8217;s<\/EM> <STRONG>SPECIMEN X.<\/STRONG> That one had sat a nice trip in third and ran a good race.
