This mile and three eighths $50,000 turf Stakes race for all horses three years and up may be running through the raindrops as light rain is forecast for this weekend. We’ve got a nicely varied field with three 4 year olds and three 5 year olds. Let’s take a look at the participants:

#1 ROARING TWENTIES trained by battledawn – 8/1 morning line. Event of the Year offspring Roaring Twenties only has three wins to show for his 32 races but is a stakes veteran and really likes an off track which we may be dealing with on Saturday. He seemed to be a little off his last two outings but may be ready for a bounce back here.

#2 KRYPIE CONNECTION trained by gowand2 – 10/1 morning line. This Victory Gallup horse is a 47 race 5 year veteran that seems to have found new life after a long layoff two back. His past two races were solid with a second in a stakes and first in an allowance. He knows how to win and may be ready to surprise here.

#3 CRAFTY MANEUVER trained by johnomally – 6/1 morning line. Sire Crafty Prospector has become a favorite and this 4 year old colt shows why. He’s been developing well lately and has been in the money four of his past five races. Two of those were stakes and the big brown colt threw a third in one of them. He has M Grunhard up and that makes him hard to bet against here.

#4 HIGH STRIKE T trained by highc – 8/1 morning line. Another 40 something race vet, this Smart Strike offspring finished second in his past two stakes races and also likes the off track. He’s run second more often than not and hasn’t taken a trip to the winners circle yet this year. He knows how to be a part of that winning trifecta though and may grab a piece here as well.

#5 CAUSES WOOD(IRE) trained by ruby7 – even morning line. Giant’s Causeway puts out some awesome turf colts and this one is no exception. Out of Scoopy Grass, this brown 4 year old has won an amazing 10 of 19 races and finished in the money 17 times. He is a seven time stakes winner and likes to go to the front and run away and hide. He routinely runs triple digit speeds and looks to be the class of this field. The only worry here is that he has never run on an off track.

#6 SARATOGA SOJOURN trained by sojourneys – 2/1 morning line. I’m sure that trainer sojourneys is proud of this namesake 4 year old colt by Red Ransom out of Matt’s Shamrock. He has had a couple of rough trips in Graded Stakes lately but seems to love the regular stakes races and particularly likes a little water mixed in with his turf. He has a first and second in his two off track races. I’m sure that sojourneys will be doing a rain dance this Saturday before the race.

It is nearly impossible to pick against CAUSES WOOD in this race. You never know about a first time on an off track which this may be but I’m afraid there is too much horse here for the rest of the field. He wins easily and SARATOGA SOJOURN claims second with CRAFTY MANEUVER rounding out the 4 year old youngsters coming home.

[2

post-584","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
