Auction Hopping Despite <\/SPAN><\/B>Kentucky<\/SPAN><\/B><\/st1:place><\/st1:State> Rain<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/B><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/B><\/P>

Auction – 3546<\/SPAN><\/B> – The auction had less to offer this week with the number of horses down by about 200 but the number of 2 YO’s\u00a0 <\/SPAN>being offered was way up and that is one of the more interesting aspects of the sale.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>As more people start breeding their own, and with more races being available to race in, the ones being offered will probably start to decrease in price unless they are blue-blooded and unraced.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>So the days of get rich on unraced bargain breds are probably over for the year.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Also up from last week were the average and also the total sales.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Only five horses went for more than a million dollars and surprisingly, at least as far as I could determine, none were stable transfers.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The oldies sold well with eight of the 8YO’s and over selling for more than a dollar.\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

I know, I swore I’d stop with the weather complaints, but it just seems to get worse here every week.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I think I heard <\/SPAN>Kentucky<\/SPAN><\/st1:place><\/st1:State> was blessed with four inches of rain\u2026.. That’s to much for ducks much less people.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>At least the sales barn sits on a small hill so while the barns may have been flooding the ring area was at least dry-er.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>With Keeneland opening this week I expected a crowd and I wasn’t disappointed.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It looked like Possumlake<\/I><\/B> had brought the lake inside with him as he was standing in a puddle that made Waylong<\/I><\/B> stretch to reach the bar by Rivahboat<\/I><\/B>\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Derbydave<\/I><\/B> was surrounded by several trainers including Boolucas<\/I><\/B> who had Easterlilii, Propertyof<\/I><\/B> and even Hoots<\/I><\/B> hooting with laughter over something he read in last week’s Argentina track article.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>According to what I heard walking by, next week’s is supposed to be better – something to do with steroids and stewards or the like.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I waved to Quintin<\/I><\/B> and Quiggy<\/I><\/B> as I passed by Row Q and made my way to my table in the center top, Row K, and after shedding my raincoat, jacket, hat and sweater – remember, I get the fire and it’s nice and warm, proceeded to look around. <\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Sitting at the table next to me were Bonnyd <\/I><\/B>and Mickeyb<\/I><\/B>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>They are very nice people and they had brought along Dora<\/I><\/B> and Pedro.<\/I><\/B>\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Oscar<\/I><\/B> and Wags<\/I><\/B> stopped by to say hello and introduced me to Squash<\/I><\/B> who looked a little yellow.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Must be the horse aroma in here.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Several prominent farms had tables down by the rail.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I saw Stonerside<\/I><\/B>, Darbydan<\/I><\/B> and Oldoakfarm<\/I><\/B> all heavily involved with the ring action.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Topicount<\/I><\/B> stopped by but only for a second.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It was nice to see her even if she was in a hurry – time is money or something.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Speaking of time – how does she find the time to do her lawyer work – between this game and that other horseracing sim she belongs to.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Believe me; she does just as well there as here.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Lenny<\/I><\/B> and Texasace<\/I><\/B> sat down for a minute.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Seems they not only were busy consigning horses to the auction but dropped a bunch of nice horses into claiming races.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Making space to take advantage of Mike’s half off sale, I suppose.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I saw Yearling<\/I><\/B> and Booner<\/I><\/B> taking on Heavenly<\/I><\/B> and Rainbow<\/I><\/B> over at the pool table.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>A nice coalition if you ask me.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Pazjazz<\/I><\/B> also came by for a quick visit.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He couldn’t wait to tell me how much fun he had on April Fool’s Day at the sim’s expense.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>HA!\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I was sure glad I was in on it as I would have been the first one fooled.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Well, enough of this foolishness and on to\u2026<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Leading the way this week was # 141008 Dyna In Dubai<\/B> which of course, I figured had to be a mare – but no – this was a boy named Dyna.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>By Dynaformer out of a Halo mare, Dyna is a rather ordinary looking 3 YO roan colt.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Consigned by Hardygirl,<\/I><\/B> Dyna is a winner of five races from 16 starts and is stakes placed.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He was placed in the auction off a wire to wire win last time out, in a restricted race going 10 furlongs, but the amazing thing was that he did it against older horses very early in the year. \u00a0<\/SPAN>Desperado<\/I><\/B> noticed and he bid $2,650,003.00 to take this one home.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I think he might have stolen one!<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Seeking The Gold was represented by # 58058, Almost Midnight<\/B>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She has won two of her 11 starts and the 4 YO dark bay filly is a solid allowance runner with room to improve.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Bobcat<\/I><\/B> consigned this nicely bred filly and <\/SPAN>Spain<\/SPAN><\/I><\/B><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> led her away for $2,500,200.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She is out of the Kris mare Six Till Sunset who has two foals to race, with both of them being winners.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Six Till Sunset won eight stakes in her career and <\/SPAN>Spain<\/SPAN><\/I><\/B><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> is hoping the big filly will live up to her breeding.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Part of the Texasace<\/I><\/B> dispersal was Dance So Bold<\/B>, # 160364. The flashy 3 YO bay filly by Sakhee out of a Sharpen Up mare has made one career start and veered in sharply at the break leaving her no chance.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Excuse or not, she had to go.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>ManOwar<\/I><\/B> spent $2,500,001.00 to lead her back to his barn and might have gotten a nice one.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Lemondrop2<\/SPAN><\/I><\/B> paid $2,000,001.00 to take home what might be a great purchase on a 2 YO colt.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Bred by Bung,<\/I><\/B> No Sugar<\/B> # 156612, was entered in an invitational Vermont allowance first time out where he stumbled badly at the break but came back to run a credible fifth of 13.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He was then entered into a $3,500 maiden claiming event and won easily.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He was haltered by Badbob20<\/I><\/B> out of that race who decided he really didn’t like that splint the colt had on his right front and sent him off to the sale.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Lemondrop02<\/I><\/B> figured the splint wasn’t all that bad and would probably never bother him.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He now has a winner in his barn and all kinds of options.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Manny Being Manny<\/SPAN><\/B> # 153643 is probably a stable transfer although I am not positive.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>A 3 YO plain brown filly, she is 0\/3 and has yet to earn a dollar towards her keep.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>By Best Of The Bests out of Run Preciosa (Songanaprayer) who won one race from 26 starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Run Preciosa is the dam of two foals to race, both maidens.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Consigned by Early<\/I><\/B>, it was Marmac<\/I><\/B> who signed the ticket for $1,000,000 and led her away.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

The Stc:<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/B><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

The Stc trainers purchased 12 horses for a total of $108,574.00 giving them an average price of $9,047.83.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Sender3<\/I><\/B> consigned the top selling horse, Ember Glow<\/B> a 3 YO blood bay filly by Bluegrass Cat.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She has been in the money in five of her eight starts and won two of them.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Primusstc spent $99,888.000 to lead her away and is hoping that she will further his case in the Stc competition. Only Kingstc and Stckaif took home more than one horse.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>
