The skies were overcast and the temperature was in the high 40’s here in Tennessee as Mambogate brought home the win in today’s stakes race, The HOPEFULLY BLOCK Special. She came home with a speed of 108, shaving two fifths off the race record of 128 4/5. Let’s take a quick look and see just how the race played out.

RJ’s Samantha took the early lead, breaking easily and by the first call was leading the rest by a length and a quarter ahead of Redoute’s World. Beanstalk settled into third another length and a quarter back. A quarter of a length further back was The Matador in fourth and Running Scared in fifth just a whisker behind. Mambogate sat in sixth three quarters of a length behind those two and Go On trailed the field in seventh, five and three quarters lengths off the lead.

Things pretty much stayed the same and by the third call RJ’s Samantha had opened up her lead to three lengths. She seemed unaware that Mambogate, who was starting to make her move, had taken over third and was still gaining momentum. Redoute’s World was still holding onto second and Beanstalk now sat in fourth. Running Scared, in fifth, began to make her move as well as The Matador began faltering and was racing in sixth. Go On still trailed the pack in seventh seeming to lose more ground with every stride.

At the wire Mambogate accomplished what she had set out to do by passing RJ’s Samantha and taking the win. RJ’s Samantha held on to keep second and it was a photo finish for third and fourth with Running Scared finishing just a hair ahead of Beanstalk. Redoute’s World fell back to finish in fifth, The Matador just couldn’t find her speed today and finished in sixth. Go On just couldn’t find her speed today and finished in seventh eleven and a half lengths off the lead.

It was an exciting day of racing here in Tennessee today and congratulations to glbstable and Mambogate. I give myself a pat on the back for finally being right about the winner and second, too for that matter. I hope you enjoyed this week of racing and will see you at the tracks next week.
