A field of only 4 fillies are entered into the Utter Seattle Stakes. The race is scheduled to run on a good turf track, running a distance of 7 furlongs with $50,000 up for grabs.<\/p>\n
1. Pulling for Empire 2-1
Pulling for Empire has been on the board in each of her 6 turf starts. She loves running on the lead, but does have a habit of tiring late in the race. She has only 2 career wins on the turf and has exceeded the 90-speed threshold twice, both times at 7 furlongs. In this field, trainer Danknight has a shot at the winners circle. This will be Pulling for Empire’s first outing on an off track, and being that it is only labled as good, I don’t see this impacting her chances. Experienced jockey R. Fav should give her a decent run for the money.<\/p>\n
2. Inclusive 1-2
Inclusive enters the race as the heavy favorite for trainer rlogan. Inclusive has won 4 of 9 starts, hitting the board in each of her starts. She likes to run on the front end, usually pacing near the leader. She gets top notch jockey Shoemaker aboard, and I expect that he will let Pulling the Empire take the lead, and follow the pace very closely. Inclusive has been consistantly hitting the 90-speed level in her last 4 outings and is the one to beat.<\/p>\n
3. Sanctified 3-1
Sanctified has hit the board 7 of 11 outings, which is a nice record, however, only has one victory to show for it. Trainer Qwikvett1 has seen entered this filly into a short field, which should help her chances. She has been struggling against stakes company, hitting board 2 of 5 times. She will have to be at her best, as she has yet to break the 90-speed plateau, and the inside two horses have that edge on her.<\/p>\n
4. Stellaluna 22-1
Stellaluna has her work cut out for her. She hasn’t been on the board in her last 4 starts, finishing 8 lengths or more back in each one. Added to this, Stellaluna has only broken the 70-speed rating only twice in her 15 starts. Trainer Kingkong has entered her on this slightly off-track, and two of her three lifetime wins have been on a wet surface which may be a hidden benefit.<\/p>\n
Inclusive has the talent to take this field. She shows the best speed ratings and looks very tough to beat. I expect Pulling for Empire to set the pace, and will probably surrender the lead late, but should have enough left to take the second spot. Sanctified looks to be the third best.
