Fantastic Mix splashes onto the three year old turf scene with a very impressive victory. Red Raven battles his demons and comes out with a very impressive victory in the Crock of Gold.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>\u00a0<\/SPAN> Race: 3525.5315 All Your Base Are Belong To Us Cup<\/SPAN> – Grade I – $500,000<\/B> Fantastic Mix took down a solid group of turf runners his first grade one win. This young colt has the type of pedigree to make a run at the prestigious mile and a half races. We are still a few months away and he still has to prove he can stretch out but this was a nice stepping stone for Fantastic Mix. <\/P> He was closer to the pace than anticipated. He was sitting in fourth early on stalking a very solid pace. He was always less than two lengths from the pace setter. It was a patient ride allowing the game to come to him. Around the turn he moved into contention getting to a short lead at the top of the stretch. From there he dug in finding that little something extra and started to slowly draw away from the field. He would win by a length and three quarters looking much the best in the stretch. <\/P> Woette\u2019s Slipper knows a thing or two about finishing second. This is his fifth second place finish in ten starts including two grade one wins. Longer distances are probably not in his future. He was close to the pace today as was the winner. He sat third just off the early pace and was in contention on the turn. He was well place but just did not have that little extra to run with the winner in the stretch. He would hold his ground though and would just hold off Prospetariat at the wire. <\/P> Prospetariat also stalked the pace in this race. He sat a little further back in sixth about three and a half lengths off the early pace. He made a steady move into the stretch but could only match strides with the winner in the stretch. He was not able to make up any ground and almost got up for second. His pedigree is blue blood being sired by Sadler\u2019s Wells with Seattle Slew and Mr. Prospector on the bottom side. He looks as though he can handle more distance so this one may be one to keep tabs on as the distances get longer.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>\u00a0<\/SPAN><\/P> Race: 3525.5915 Crock of Gold <\/SPAN>Grade I – $500,000 Red Raven puts on a front running clinic on with a smashing three length win. He was the favorite and riding a great streak into this race but he had only two wins over a mile in his career prior to this race both of those races allowances. He has struggled in stakes company over a mile while flourishing in sprints at the graded level. He race did appear to have some speed but Red Raven was not going to sit around and see who would go with him he just went to the lead. He was under some mild pressure in the early stages but established a clear and uncontested lead. The rest of the field was doomed from that point of the race. His length and a half lead at the half mile pole turned into a more than three length lead into the stretch. He did not really let up at all once in the stretch cruising to the wire to win by three lengths. He earned a very nice 111 speed figure for his effort. <\/P> Shouldn\u2019t Matter was the second favorite going in and he had a big fight on his hands to finish second. He was mid pack in the early stages of the race but more than nine lengths behind Red Raven. He would not make up much ground on the turf for home where he was eight lengths behind at the top of the stretch. He found a higher gear and quickly passed runners. He was getting pressure from another closer closing in on him while overtaking the second place horse in a spectacular three horse photo at the wire. <\/P> Wars of Empire was the closer pressuring Shouldn\u2019t Matter in the stretch. Wars of Empire was almost eleven lengths behind Red Raven at the half mile pole and started rolling on the turn for home. He had moved up behind Shouldn\u2019t Matter as he entered the stretch and went with him through the stretch.
