This time they will be battling it out over a mile and a sixteenth on the turf for their share of the $35,000 purse for fillies and mares 4yo and older. lenny and peeps are back this week hoping their turf mares will be the first to cross the finish line. We have a small field of only 7 mares but these ladies are so closely matched that it could be anyone’s race.

Let’s meet the field.

Our Flying Lass will be breaking on the rail from post position 1. This 4yo mare is sired by El Corredor and is trained by deyoto. She’s only raced twice at this distance, including her last start which she won by 2 lengths, however, that was an allowance. She’s had a few stakes wins in the past but never over 7 furlongs. One thing that may work in this girl’s favor is that she has only just recently started showing that she is quite able to achieve speeds over 100. Her odds coming into this race are 5/1.

Post position 2 will hold Liberty Tree. kelsobarn trained this 6yo mare by Jade Hunter and out of Brigadoon. 8.5 furlongs is no problem for this mare since she has had wins at the same distance as well as shorter and longer. She showed a top speed of 108 back in September ’07 when she won The QUEEN OF DIAMONDS Special but she hasn’t won a race since. I wouldn’t hold that against her, though, as it seems to be her style to relax for a few months before coming back to win again. She has pretty good odds of 9/2.

taztiger will be watching Sisson’s Puss E load into the gate in post position 3. 4 years old and sired by E Dubai, she’s out of the dam Alcira Allegro. She has proven that the distance holds no problem for her as she has won a couple of times at 8.5 furlongs. They were allowance races, however with a speed of 106 in the one I am pretty confident that if it had been a stakes race she still would have been led into the winner’s circle. She does have a stakes win but that was at 7.5 furlongs and was back in October ’06. If she brings on the speed that she’s capable of, she just may be the first under the wire. She’s one of the three in this race with 5/1 odds.

Waiting patiently in post position 4 will be Silver Glory. Silver Ghost sired this 4yo mare out of Return to Glory. lenny is back in Tennessee this week with this mare out of the lenny28 training barn. She has had a bit of trouble in her last 3 times out, bringing home a 5th, 3rd and 11th but fingers are crossed that she can shake those losses and perform well this time out. She can handle the distance easily and with only finishing out of the money 2 times in her 17 starts, you can bet she’ll be up there trying her best to bring home some money. She’s the third of the three in this race with odds of 5/1.

peeps is also back this week hoping to better the 2nd place win last week with Peeples, who will be starting in post position 5. The great Danzig sired this 6yo mare out of peeps3’s barn. She’s brought home 2 wins out of her last 3 starts but those were in allowance races. She has not ran in a stakes race since July ’06 but has recently been showing that she can bring on the speed when called upon so the step up to a stakes this time out may be a good choice. She can definitely handle the distance as well. Her odds for this race are 9/2.

Foolish Chant will be starting in post position 6. A 5yo mare sired by War Chant, this girl has an impressive record of never placing worse than 3rd in all of her 11 starts. This race, however, is her first stakes race. Racing at a mile and a sixteenth in all but 2 of her races shows that she can handle the distance and with just recently showing that she can accomplish speeds of over 100, tenderfoot may be making a wise move bringing her up to stakes level. She is definitely a great allowance horse but the handicappers feel as if she may not be ready for stakes level making her the longshot in the field with odds of 9/1.

Post position 7 hold the favorite Bleep Ela Dubai. Dubai Destination sired this 5yo mare trained by xpletives3. She really seems to have hit her stride with 8.5 furlongs, winning 5 races in a row her last 5 times out at this distance. With a top speed of 110 and seeming to increase her speed with every time out, this mare is the one to watch. Only placing out of the money 2 times out of her 16 turf starts she can definitely get the job done. It’s no wonder she comes into this race with odds of 2/1 but remember, anything is possible here in Tennessee.

To me, this is a difficult race to call. These are all very nice mares who are quite capable of bringing home a win. One thing I can be pretty sure of is it’s going to be a close call when they storm to the wire. I really want to say that Bleep Ela Dubai will reach the wire first but something in my gut tells me to think otherwise. I think that Liberty Tree will be up there giving Bleep Ela Dubai a run for her money. I believe Foolish Chant will be up there as well fighting to keep her race record clear of a finish worse than 3rd. So, that being said my prediction for this race is Liberty Tree x Bleep Tha Dubai x Foolish Chant. I’m probably wrong as I normally am but that’s what I think the outcome will be.

Good luck and happy racing.

[2

post-5643","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
