The word here is that a bunch of old guys got together this weekend to celebrate St Patrick\u2019s Weekend and it was all ruined by a female! WHISPER <\/b> took on the boys and won in the third leg of the OLD MAN OF THE MOUNTAIN series III. The old men horse club was ready for some celebrating but were in a somber mood after they had their hats handed to them by a woman. To add insult to injury, WHISPER <\/b> also took over the lead in the series and threatens to become the first female winner in the Old Man Series. We might even have to change the series name to make it more PC!! How does the Old Men and Women of the Mountain Series sound? Yecchh! She will also continue to be able to race in the series as she has now only won twice in the past year so has plenty of room under the restrictions . That is what makes this series so interesting. You can bet that this old gal will be back at the Horsey Senior Citizen Center crowing about her recent win.<\/p>\n

In the race itself, host horse USA <\/b> took off like he forgot that they were running a complete mile and not just down to the cafeteria. He was quickly four lengths ahead of LEGADILLO <\/b> and looked like he would he would never run out of steam. That however was not to be the case. The old body betrayed him and he dropped back quickly at the top of the stretch to eventually finish fifth WHISPER <\/b> was in tenth place nearly ten lengths back but started to move like a youngster. She caught LEGADILLO <\/b> in the stretch who was also passed by the old Irish Leprechaun himself, CELTIC LEGEND <\/b> who finished second. Many felt it would have been fitting if he has won the St Paddys Weekend race but it was not to be.<\/p>\n

In a separate part of the race, in what we call the Sun Dial Standings,<\/b> the race for last place is almost as coveted in the win in this series for AARP card holders. The winner of the Sun Dial Trophy is held in high regard back at the old folks horme. It\u2019s always a lot of fun to see who contends. There was a reshuffling at that end of the standings as well. A newcomer to the series MARIO MOMENT <\/b> wheezed and geezed his way to last place. He was followed for points by both PRESTO <\/b> and SERPENTINE INVADER <\/b> both of whom had points from previous races and moved up in the standings. PRESTO <\/b> now has the lead in that end of the series and is looking strong if that is the correct word to use when describing someone finishing 20 lengths back!<\/p>\n

There are still seven races left in the ten race series and lots of things can happen including quite a few heart attacks and strokes among the participants, so it should be interesting down the road. That\u2019s what makes this series so much fun.. Stay tuned Race Fans!<\/p>\n
