A full gate of fourteen is what we encounter, with three undefeated horses looking to end their two year old season unblemished. Let’s take a look at the participants:

Firestone Walker – MEDAGLIA D’ORO x STORM CAT x MR. PROSPECTOR

This is a colt that looks like a very promising prospect when the classic distances arrive for 2022. In his last race, he fell short in the Grade I end of the line, earning his ticket to this race. His trainer thezoo5 is hoping for a contested pace, but he knows this 8.5 furlong trip maybe is not the best for his colt. He is still dangerous if all things go his way, and if he keeps improving his chances cannot be denied

2. Life On the Ranch – COUNTRY HOUSE x WILD AGAIN x BROAD BRUSH

Precocious colt that won a Grade II as early as in May, and then had two sub par efforts after such a great win. In his most recent, he gave d=signs of new life, just missing in the Grade I Sparking Wine Stakes, a race in which he in contention all thru the contest. He will need to step up to have a chance to score here, but definitely he is not totally out of the question, and trainer filly0 hopes he will bring his A game this Saturday, when it really counts.

3. Ridin’ – CANDY RIDE x TRIPPI x OASIS DREAM (GB)

Very nice colt that has done little wrong in six races so far, winning two stakes, one of the of the graded variety. In his most recent, he tested the routing waters, coming in third, although not displaying his usual late kick. So he still needs to answer if he will be as effective going two turns as opposed to only one turn, but can’t be overlooked because he always gives a good account of himself. Trainer gameondude tells us he will be going at or near the lead, to see how deep he takes them. Good luck with him.

4. Into the Never – INTO MISCHIEF x DEPUTY MINISTER x UNBRIDLED

This horse has steadily improved in each of his races, as trainer frankthetank brilliantly has increased the distance with each new race, letting us know that he is a better router than sprinter. He is two for two at two turns, and comes off a solid win in the Grade III Charcoal Breeders Cup. This son of Into Mischief has the perfect style for this race; a stalker that doesn’t need things falling right for him, as he makes his own luck. And if the improvement pattern continues, he will be a very tough customer on Saturday.

5. Longing for Change – MEDAGLIA D’ORO x SEATTLE SLEW x KINGMAMBO

Lightly raced royally bred two year old that has shown good ability in just three starts. He is a front runner, and maybe that’s why he could get the win last time out in the Grade I end of the Line Futurity; he could not get the lad. And in this race, against the best two year olds in the sim, its difficult to think he will have an easy lead. Trainer asrstar5 will probably instruct his jockey to try to go wire to wire versus such a quality field. Gargantuan task, but can’t say further improvement is out of the question, with just three races lifetime.

6. Hegotaces – HARD ACES x CURLIN x SEATTLE SLEW

My good friend robscoobi5 presents this talented Louisiana bred colt, who is six for six to start his career, something that’s not easy to do at all. So far, he is the top ranked 2 year old in the sim, and with good reason. He has won three stakes, two of them graded, and in his most recent, he conquered the Grade I North Fork Stakes in come from behind fashion. He needs to have some pace up front, and will probably get it, and the fact that he loves to win is a big plus for this modestly bred colt, who will have the earnest test of his career.

7. Cool Mischief – INTO MISCHIEF x A.P. INDY x FUSAICHI PEGASUS

Speaking of friends, here is my buddy givencovid, in my opinion the most accomplished trainer in the sim, who enters this colt out of mega sire Into Mischief in this race, who will probably determine the Juvenile champion of the sim. So far, he has stayed sprinting, taking the Grade I Hopeless Stakes in his last start, which was on August 29th. Dan has given his colt plenty of rest to have him ready for the step up in distance, and although there are some doubts on how well he will adapt to the routing distance, he is coming into this race as fit as ever, and you can’t count out Given as a trainer under any circumstance.

8. Media Distortion – DISTORTED HUMOR x SEATTLE SLEW x DANZIG

The horse with the top figure coming into this race is this royally bred son of Distorted Humor, whose last time out effort in the Grade I Sparkling Wine Stakes, in which he posted a 96 SF, gained him the right to be part of this field. He has won four of five, and the only time he lost is when he tried to stretch further from the eight furlongs, so there are some question marks regarding his ability to negotiate the extra half furlong. His trainer asrdistorted tweaked his training somewhat, looking to add a little more stamina in his colt, so he is confident we will see a better performance out of him.

9. Tripoli Trip – POSSE x CURLIN x UNBRIDLED

Speedy Uruguayan bred colt that seems to be a “need the lead” type horse. If you analyze his past performances, all his three wins have come when he can dictate the pace, including his most recent win, which was a wire to wire score in the Grade II Golden Nugget. There is no secret on which will be the strategy employed by his connections, and this was confirmed by his trainer jayla. “We will go right to the front, and we will play catch me if you can”. The question here is if other trainers have the same idea, as this California surface is known for being very kind to speed. Good luck to the connections.

10. Giant Exaggeration – EXAGGERATOR x GIANT’S CAUSEWAY x HALO

Trainer padrebri18 has taken an extremely conservative approach with this son of Preakness winner Exaggerator, with just four races under his belt for this important commitment. This can be key in the result, because most probably, we will have a horse peaking at the right time. In his first experience going farther than a mile, he crushed his rivals in the Grade III Buckeye Juvenile. It is true that the stakes are much higher now, but the way he put away the competition makes you think there is much more in the tank. With an eleven week rest since his last race, I expect a top notch effort from this colt.

11. Bold Legacy – DEN’S LEGACY x CURLIN x BROAD BRUSH

This horse started out his career in humble form, as he needed three races to win his maiden against Oklahoma breds. That didn’t spell like he was a candidate for the Juvenile later in the year, but then he won his non winners of two allowance when going first time routing, and his trainer layoff entered him in the Grade I North Fork, in which he came in a respectable third, earning his way into this race. There is no question that this colt needs to improve anything he has done so far in his career, but I have seen these miracles happen before, and connections are always allowed to dream. Hopefully for them, dream will become a joyful reality.

12. Grinning Pirate – MORE THAN READY x DISTORTED HUMOR x BROAD BRUSH

He has the experience advantage in this field, with seven aces already under his belt, so he is fit enough for this race. His most recent effort was on September 18, in which he was as solid second in the North Fork at this same track, so he checks that box also, and the seven week layoff is of no concern at all for trainer witchesmoon, who draw a plan early in the year for this colt to be part of this Juvenile championship, and the colt has delivered so far. The question is if he is good enough to win this race, and if he can make that little improvement that he needs in order to be a contender for the win. That is what needs to be answered.

13. Hagridden – MEDAGLIA D’ORO x UNBRIDLED x ALYDAR

Undefeated colt out of the great Medaglia D’Oro that has shown he likes to be in front and dictating how things are to be done in his races. With just four races in his career, there is still upside potential in him, and that is scary, given what he has sown already. We asked trainer foundational2 about the post 13 that he drew for this race, and he told us: “it’s not what we hoped for, but that’s the luck of the draw. My horse has shown that he doesn’t need the lead, and if we have to stalk from one of two lengths behind the leader, we can do it”. If he can do what his trainer says he can do, he definitely is one of the big guns in this field, and 8/1 seems to be a fair enough price for him.

14. Go Left – DUBAWI (IRE) x GIANT’S CAUSEWAY x DISTORTED HUMOR

If you analyze the pedigree for this colt, you will guess that probably he is more suited for the grass. However he has shown that he loves the conventional dirt and his natural speed is seems very appropriate to running in this California speedy track, and he has won twice already in this surface. He is another undefeated horse, with five wins, going from six furlongs to a mile and a sixteenth. The far outside post is trainer highlandsky biggest concern, but he makes it clear that they will be part of that first flight, because that is what his horse wants. And I agree with him. You can’t go against what your horse wants to do naturally, and if it doesn’t work, try again. Good luck to the connections.

I like #10 Giant Exaggeration at a juicy 11/1 dividend for the win, with #6 Hegotaces and #13 Hagridden completing the Trifecta, and Cool Mischief (#7) as the outsider in here. Good luck to everyone and hoping to see some of these talented colts in the Bluegrass Derby in May of 2022.

The best “rookies” from the SIM will clash in $1.5 million Breeders Bowl Juvenile, and, as always, is a very

[1

post-55918","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
