Three Taps set a career best of 103 in his only stakes last time out. Three Taps comes in with 3 nice wins in her last 5 showing great form lately. Additionally, Trainer Slewback has enlisted the services of Jockey Gardner for this race. If there is to be an upset, this one can pull it off.<\/p>\n
2. Barb’s Banker 10-1 Last 3: 4-5-2
Barb comes in taking a drop in distance from running short routes. Barb’s last 5 speed ratings have been in the 90’s and will need to improve to beat this field. Barb hasn’t faired better than 3rd in the 4 stakes races she has competed in. K. Saab takes the mount, who has struggled with only 2 wins in 47 mounts. Not a winning combination.<\/p>\n
3. Timeinhand 10-1 Last 3: 7-6-1
This mare set her career speed of 101 three races back. Timeinhand has struggled since setting this mark in the last two. She was on the front end in both and rapidly dropped back upon hitting the halfway mark. Stakes racing may be taking a toll on this horse and class relief is in order.<\/p>\n
4. Suicidal Tendency 9-2 Last 3: 2-5-2
Suicidal has been sharp on the turf and shows a record of 7-3-3-0 on this surface. She finished 2nd in the His Burg Specil, beaten by a length. She entered this race after a 4-month rest and produced a speed rating of 108. Suicidal rates a look.<\/p>\n
5. Firsttime 3-1 Last 3: 1-3-2
Firsttime is coming off a gate-to-wire victory in the Opening Button Memorial. Six of her last seven races exceed the 100 speed rating. Firsttime has over $300k in winnings and has 7 wins in 18 races (14 races in stakes). W. Kemwa (30% win) has agreed to take the mount. Firsttime could be first to the wire.<\/p>\n
6. Southern Atlantic 6-1 Last 3: 2-6-3
Southern has struggled with stakes competition. She has a stakes record of 12-1-2-2. She is a more dominating threat in allowance racing then stakes. This field will be a tough challenge for Souther to overcome.<\/p>\n
7. Milli Vanilli 6-1 Last 3: 3-4-1
Despite setting a career best 107 speed in recent Minstrel Net handicap, Milli seems out of her element. Her history on turf is not impressive with a record of 14-5-0-1. Her last race was probably a fluke. I suspect that another horse stood in for Milli in that race.<\/p>\n
8. A Fleet Cat 5-2 Last 3: 2-1-1
Just like Firsttime, A Fleet Cat has appeared in numerous stakes races. Her career stakes record is 14-5-2-1. Five of the last 6 races have over 100 speed ratings. A Fleet Cat likes the turf, likes the sprints, and will be a foe here to contend with.<\/p>\n
Trainer Lookout seems to have Firsttime in the right place. She is well rested and in good form. Jockey Kewma knows the way to victory lane and will help in this campaign. Suicidal Tendency can proof to be the spoiler and put in a great race after her layoff and could be a sign of things to come.
