The race is being held on a good turf track, at a distance of 8.5f. The field is loaded with early speedsters and the track conditions could certainly play into the race.

1) Random Russian 13-1 Trainer Ringott brings this colt back to Denmark where he has won his only 2 career races (in 4 starts). Random likes to maneuver from behind the leaders and this race has several who like the front end. If they wear each other out, he may be able to strike. Random enters the stakes class for first time here.

2) Ophidian Spawn 9-5 This well-bred RedRansom/Danzig/Gone West colt has already amassed over $180k in only 7 starts. Ophidian likes to run on the front end with a record of 4-2-1 in those starts. Last time out, Ophidian won the Pete Around Steal stakes (9.5f) with an impressive 101 speed rating (only entry to exceed 100). Trainer Illbred has obtained Schardein to take the reins and this only improves Ophidian’s chances.

3) K’s Totalitarist 9-2 Totalitarist made a monster move in the Simhispano Grameros trailing by 11 at the midway marker to bully his way and just missed by 3/4 length. Totalitarist did this on a good track and is the only horse in the field to show any off-track racing and could steal this race.

4) Happyhappyjoyjoy 10-1 Happy will be running on the front end in this affair and has wired the field twice in five attempts. Happy’s last effort in the Irish Futurity was disappointing, finishing 5th after pressing the leader early. Happy will probably subcomb to similar results here.

5) Double Malted 3-1 Double in 8 starts has a record of 3-3-1 earning over $150k. This 3-year old ran a decent 3rd last time out at 8f with a speed rating of 94, which continues to improve each race. His only time off the board was in a Grade 1 stakes back in September. Will he be Double Trouble against these?

6) Words and Music 3-1 With a little more luck, this colt would have a 3 win streak on the line. Word got beat by 1/4 of a length last time out vs. allowance. The race before, he held on to win by a head in a stakes race. Three back, also an allowance, he was beat by a head, all three efforts at 8f. This well bred Borrego/Storm Cat/Prospector colt will try his luck in running away with the race.

7) Trippa 11-1 Trippa is in trouble here. He has faced stakes company 4 times, failing to touch the board each time. Trippa has won 2 races in 13 tries and doesn’t offer supporters much.

The field is loaded with sprinters and the track condition (good) throws a ringer into the picture. Ophidian Spawn is ranked 26th, much better than any other in this field, has won his last two, great breeding, and gets top rider making him the top choice. Words and Music, another well bred colt, has been running sharp and will press the issue. Third choice is for K’s Totalitarist closed well in last on an off-track. He will be closing and has chance to overtake leaders and should be considred in any exotic wagers.

[2

post-5448","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
