The Caustic Art Memorial draws a very short field of only 4 that will be tested on a turf track, going a distance of 13f.

1. Forestry Box 6-1 This was a great find for trainer Oasis, claiming the colt for $10k back in September. Forestry has more than paid for himself since being acquired and Oasis has found the niche for Forestry….he loves long routes. Forestry has been 1st or 2nd in each of his 5 starts over 12f including a stakes.

2. Marky Dance 9-2 Marky is coming off two good races with a recent win at 14f and a nice second at 10f where his speed rating was 101. Marky is making his debut here in his first states. Needs to be at his best.

3. Derubare Tete 2-1 Derubare has won 8 of 21 starts, all routes. However, is one for five in stakes competition. His last two outings were underwhelming finishing off the board. Although in a bit of a slump, this short field is not going to hurt him.

4. Confederacy 3-5 The class of the field. Confederacy has won 12 of 36 with over $2.7 million in purses. Trainer Dawqpound has this one sharp and ready to go. Confederacy has been on the board in his last 5 (with 2 victories) and all in stakes. Confederacy shows a long line of stake outings with commendable results. Add to that, Confederacy is ranked 28th in long turf routes. P. Wright takes the saddle which is an added bonus.

Confederacy has too much class and shouldn’t disappoint and is the top selection. A toss up for the second spot…which I will give to Derubare Tete. Derubare has a bit more experience than the rest and will most likely be the attacker from the back of the field. Third choice is to Forestry Box, but consider this one in the exacta with the top choice.
