THE LIGHTS WENT OUT !

Even the internet problems Mike was having after a bomb explosion in Nashville was not enough to stop the Sovereign hopefuls from showing their worthiness, as the races went off unscathed .

First off was the Turf runners, representing stables from around the world, but they all had one thing in common, they were all the best 2 year old turf runners bred in Canada, and represent their stables and country they would.

Order of finish

Orange Faced God, Gottcha Moon, Coagulate Joe, Reload Missile, Hawthorne Road,

Talkingmredison, Crazy Name, My Subaru, Frac For Gold, Danish Dew.

I was disappointed in the way some ran ,

Frac For Gold

learned that dirt is probably his best surface for this one, as the turf surface he just never fired on.

Danish Dew and My Subaru

had excuses as both were lightly run, and experience was probably a major factor, however still below speed values.

Crazy Name

improved her speed values and has improved with every race, she might have been a step or two behind these ones right now, but I think she will have a strong future.

Talkingmredison

showed well considering he was not an invite and was well beaten his first race out. He is lightly run and the competition has been stiff for him. This race will be a springboard for him.

Hawthorne Road

was the one I was thinking could beat the boys here especially after her sensational speed figure from her previous race where she smoked an 84 well winning. She had it all going for her but never fired when it counted most.

Reload Missile

was a top favorite for Roxyken in the write up, and he showed well, fronting the second tier and pretty did about what was expected from the handicappers, maybe even a little bit more.

Coagulate Joe

is my biggest disappointment. For me anyhow, as I had picked him to win.He ran a great race, and it was his to win, after all he was undefeated, the two he was dealing with upfront was either more of a bridesmaid, or had just recently raced and maybe not quite at the top of his game coming in, and yet he still backed up. Valued experience on all ends was gathered here.

Gottcha Moon

ran one fantastic race and is all good in the betters books as he was not quite in top shape after racing in another a little earlier in the month, but being game trainers, and not wanting to miss out on the fun, and with some gentle encouragement , Gottcha Moon entered and almost stole the show. He will get a well deserved rest now.

Orange Faced God

Now this never happens to me, I won the damn race with a horse I was not expecting at all to be better than third or fourth. He has shown the guts to be in all his races, but just could never finish, and finish he did, after stalking Coagulate Joe for most of the race, as both got off to nice leads from the rest of the pack, Orange Faced God made his move, putting Coagulate Joe away, and doing just enough to keep a full out running Gottcha Moon in second to capture his second win.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

As for the 2 year old Canadian bred dirt race, we had a spectacular turnout. There were a couple of high ranking Canadian breds that could not make these races, but the top three of four were there, and all ran pretty well for a field of 19. Here are the final results.

Iliad Estambul, Seattle Anthem, Acceptable Star, Cape Washington,

Ruff Stuff Jo, Zombie Searching, Iliad Sadler, Best Man Blew It, Climate Warning B,

Rocket Town, Newgene Gone, Odd Ya See, This DJ, Canadian Dreamer,

Fleetwood Brian, Northern Grind, Formal Quality, DRS Warrior and Banana River

Banana River

I think anytime a horse finishes dead last, you have to be disappointed but in this case I can honestly say it was expected, at least bottom two. The lack of experience was certainly all the difference here, and being a filly it was going to be tough going. She did run a decent speed bias. Bright Future ahead for this one.DRS Warrior Really not a lot to be said about this , he was expected to be maybe in the second tier of this group but pretty much tanked it with a few others here in the end. The leaders were buzz saws in this one.

Formal Quality

Also had a relapse about half way through the race after running well for most of it. Front pace was a major factor as it held on .

Northern Grind

After a stellar start to his career, it seems as if this horse might be looking towards a surface change, again was running well but the front end was stubborn and he gave it up as many in here did.

Fleetwood Brian

Think this one might have just been overbid by the public and pretty much just could not handle the speed that just never gave it up. Picked up stragglers in the end.

Canadian Dreamer

Disappointed by his performance as this one struggled near the back end for most of the race and could only mustard a few spots picking up droppers in the finale.

This DJ

Comes down to seasoning for this horse and he should be happy with experience gained and speed rating.

Odd Ya See

Same as above for this one seasoning , experience and great speed racing in the race should spring this one forward, pretty much did as expected.

Newgene Gone

This horse has potential otherwise he does not get the invite to this race, but I feel he too was also over bet somewhat. He has been showing a bit of a downside as of late, maybe a rest in need.

Rocket Town

This filly ran her eyeballs out when she was not even expected to see the finish line when most were crossing. Don’t let the 19th place finish fool you , she was here to win it and she loves the front, but unfortunately for her the front was electric and she could not hold on to her early challenge. I loved what I seen from her and she did score a nice SP.

Climate Warning B

He put his undefeated record on the line and although you never really felt he had a chance in this race, he was here to give it his best. Never mind the finish, only look at the SP. He will be a future star

Best Man Blew It

Although he has not fared well at the stakes levels as of yet, he is right on the cusp of doing something great , he was competitive and improved in this race. Futures for sure.

Iliad Sadler

Not sure if I am disappointed in this one or not. Thought this one might be a little closer for the lead and even a threat to steal it all but as it turns out he ran his race but could not handle the speed and so he was hung to dry. Good news is he still improved.

Zombie Searching

Put his undefeated record on the line as well but in the end it was a matter of to little experience and too much front end speed as it was with most. It was the first time stretching out from the sprint races and his sp showed well.

Ruff Stuff Jo

Hail to this filly, she came out against the boys, was not sure if she was gonna try them on the turf or the dirt, but decided to tackle them in the big race and nearly prevailed running a 91, by far her best effort only backing off late and not by a lot. Looking forward to this one moving forward.

Cape Washington

Realistically according to some stupid formula I am using right now to determine Sovereign winners, there were only a handful of possible winners of the award, two of which were not entered here . I made a decision for this year only at least that you must have participated in these races to actually win the yearly award. This may change with some new tinkering to the system. Cape Washington was actually the front runner of this lot, but unfortunately even though he put in a great race he lost the title to a few others here who were also in the race and finished ahead of him. The race was close and the eventual winner of the award is the legit winner even over Tiz The Lady D and Genius Prize who did not enter. He may have been able to finish top 3 had he not left it too late to make his run. One of the few in here who actually made ground on the eventual leader.

Acceptable Star

Very similar story to Cape Washington, undefeated colt scores a 92 sp ,being one of only three others to be making the moves towards the leader in the final stretch but again left his run too late as the top two were gone.

Seattle Anthem

This was my personal favorite before this race. 5 for 5 prior to this race and was knocking all over Cape Washington’s door for the Sovereign award. Nothing against the eventual winner , but when I seen him cone flying at the winner in the stretch I thought it was over and I was trying to push him there , but he came up just short. You would think that would easily win him the award and he is well deserved of it however because of the stupid system I am using right now the emphasis on winning this race is high and so he finishes a tight tight second.

Iliad Estambul

Your eventual winner of the Dirt Stakes also squeeks out the 2 Year Old Dirt Stakes Award and will now face off against Orange Faced God and other older horses for HOY honours. Iliad Estambul took a exceptionally strong lead and held his speed until deep into the stretch to narrowly beat Seattle Anthem by a nose. I have already called a horse rivalry between these two ( sort of an Alydar / Affirmed ) ( Easy Goer / Bayakoa) thing. I hope this happens.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ILIAD ESTAMBUL and the SANTIAGO STABLES for being this years 2020 Canadian Sovereign dirt race winner, and The Canadian Sovereign 2 year old dirt Champion of the year. Good luck in your quest for Canadian Horse Of The Year Honours.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ORANGE FACED GOD and the ONTRACING STABLES for being this years 2020 Canadian Sovereign turf winner, and also The Canadian Sovereign 2 year old turf champion of the year. Good luck in your quest for Canadian Horse Of The Tear Honours.

I hope all enjoyed these races and I plan on doing this every year. As a new residency we are trying to make new ideas and make the racing a little more intersting for everyone not just residents of the residency.

Along with the yearly Canadian Sovereign Awards for all the sim, we also hope to bring to you The Canadian Triple Crown Series which will include The Queens Plate, The Prince Of Wales and The Breeders Stakes . Any horse that can win the Canadian Triple Crown all three races will get a bonus of 4000 Credits !

We hope to get these dates for the races by spring at the latest. As the sovereign awards were by invite only the Triple Crown will also have invites, but all Canadian breds are welcomed to try their luck. Of coarse there will be some restrictions and rules which must be read and adhered to before you can enter. I will keep you updated as soon as we know anything.

One last thing ( Shameless Plug ) I have been advertising for my res. now for months. We have some great guys in here. We are always looking for new people to join experienced or not. All we ask is you ty to bred as many quality Canadians as possible which is the point of the residency. You do not have to have nothing but Canadians, in fact you can start with none as long as you understand the goal. If you like what we are doing here , or maybe you have some great ideas you would like to pass along, I am down with it as they say . Give me a shout. All is welcomed.

ontracing77@gmail.com

http://cdnthoroughbredresidency.bravesites.com/

2020 Sovereign Award Races A Great Success It was a day of medlam, it was a day of uncertainty as

[1

post-54107","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
