Sunnybank leads a group of twelve runners in the Man of War. This will be no walk in the park for Sunnybank. Several tough older turfers have shown up and appear capable of giving Sunnybank all he can handle. He was a little closer to the pace last time out and responded well. He cuts back just a bit in distance and no matter how you slice it he will be one tough horse to run down.

Preferred Power has been very good lately at slightly shorter distances. She is the heavy favorite and rightfully so. She has dominated her filly rivals at these long distances all summer long. She has won five in a row, four of which were grade I races. She stays within a reasonable distance of the pace and closes strongly each time out. It would take a great effort to beat her this weekend.

Mockingbird has been running behind the favorite all summer long. At some point she is bound to catch up to her. Her deep closing style puts her at a disadvantage against La Pata Daisy but she always seems to be making up ground. Maybe this is her week. Hail to the King has faced La Pata before. She went two miles in her last race winning a listed stakes. Indispensable is one of those runners that have seemed to mature a bit over the summer. He has run in a couple of graded races with little success thus far but that could change for him here. St. Kilda had a nice spring and finished fourth in the Bluegrass Derby. After that he was ok but not spectacular in the New Yorker and then the Princess Cup. He dropped back in class and has a couple of solid runs but needs to really step up to compete.

Act of God has just two career wins but has been improving all summer. Could be the right time for him and would be no surprise to see him in the thick of things. Real Player (IRE) comes off back to back allowance wins and just might be a runner that could improve enough to be a factor here. He gets to see how he measures up to the older runners in this division. Kiki’s Solid Rock is another really good sprinter that will attempt to stretch out. He has run some huge speed figures but distance is the main concern.

Race: 2608.2915 Tri-City Sprint – Grade I – $500,000
Track: N. Any of the fourteen runners are capable of winning this race. Atakachaw is one of the favorites. He has blazing speed and if he gets the lead he will be dangerous. King of the Cats has a bunch of speed as well and has shown he can stalk a fast pace. He comes off a grade III win but there is not much difference from grade I to grade III in this division.

King of the Slews has been very good here lately. He has just missed in his last two races running very well all summer. Empire of the Sun went nuts last time out wiring a field of grade II runners. Not sure he can repeat that but must respect the speed. Diabolical Prince has been a seven furlong specialist. It is only a half furlong distance but that could cause him problems. Dan on the Run has been a very solid sprinter who has done very little wrong lately. Three year old Huge Glacken takes on his elders and if he can repeat his last he might show something here.

Race: 2608.5915 High Flyer Stakes – Grade I – $400,000
Track: Ireland
Restrictions: All horses, 2 years old
Distance: One mile on the Turf

Fourteen young turf colts are looking to punch tickets to the Breeder’s Bowl. Anyone of these guys could win this. Fantastic Muse on paper looks like a solid choice for a winner. He is two for two lifetime and has the highest previous speed figure coming into the race. He has shown solid speed so will likely be stalking the pace here giving him a great chance.

Kepler Berzerk is a deep closer that closed a lot of ground last time out but I think the pace will just get faster here and that will put him even further back making for a difficult day. Long shot Roadhouse Blues ran a very impressive allowance last time out and could easily liven up the exacta here. Andy’s Choice is undefeated to this point but his off the pace style could put him out of contention early. Looks like an exciting race.

Race: 2608.0416 Fast Filly Stakes – Grade I – $500,000
Track: New York
Restrictions: Fillies and mares, 2 years old
Distance: One mile on the Dirt

Thnxmsslew is the number one ranked two year old filly and might be the best two year old period. She has just one blemish on her record. She lost by a head on the slop and since then has reeled of two very strong performances. She goes over a mile for the first time and if she handles the distance you will be looking at the favorite in the Breeder’s Bowl Juvenile Filly.

Fu Fu Mascus (IRE) came out of the Smackdown Series and as you know several of those runners have been doing very well at this level. She appears the only one capable of keeping up with the favorite. Forty Red hails from a Super Stable and she has a shot here. Breeding suggests she will only get better.

Ampuria won a grade I race last time out. Already proven if she can improve she might be a player here.

[4

post-535","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-general
["GET
