Nine three year olds, including an upset minded filly will race a mile over the firm turf oval at Meydan Racecourse. The race has a $100,000 purse, and the winning connections will add to their stakes bonus points –

HOWEVER …
.
Managing director summerset has taken a commanding lead in the club champion chase, having won five of the club’s monthly events while no other member has won more than one. Six of his eight opponents here would have to sweep the four remaining events to have a shot at the title. Summerset’s EXHIBIT BEE is held at 7/2 odds with morning line co-favorite TRYING YOUR BEST from the dontbetonme stable. Larrcamp’s PIRATIC FLYCATCHER is next at 4/1, jbcri09’s TEENY TINY BELL is at 9/2 while harrylan’s SEA THE BRAHMA is held at 5/1 on the tote board. I entered my off-track loving filly BEQ hoping for her surface and not getting it and she is 9/1 on the line; the downs boys come next with dunn’s MOHAYFIA at 10/1 and newfy’s EN VOLANT EPERON at 12/1. Amir1605’s CHOICE O OASIS rounds out the field at a very healthy 52/1 rating from an unimpressed handicapper.
.
Competitive heat – let’s take a look at the past performances and see what may be revealed.
.
.
.
1
EN VOLANT EPERON .. Burly bay colt won an open allowance at 6.5 panels one before that, pushing an 89 SP# in another four horse field. In his prior try he was a closing 4th in an open allowance at 7 furlongs, pasting a 91 SP# returning to the weeds. Stretch runner from the ohcanada barn of the newfydowns racing group goes a mile for the first time; improving sort could be along for a minor share on top try.
.
.
.
2
MOHAYFIA .. He took an open allowance at 6.5 panels last time over, blasting a 106 SP# in a last to first performance. Mohayman mister, out of the stakes winning sim mare Bayou Mafia TB (by Tight Grip), won an open allowance at 5.5 furlongs one back of that, banging out a 94 SP# with a stretch running win. In his previous start he was no factor in the club’s version of the Kentucky Derby, showing some mild late foot finishing 10th for an 85 SP#. Breeding is unclear on this one’s turf ability; distance seems OK but he will need some pace up front to help his late kick for the albertdowns stable of the dunnvilledowns group.
.
.
.
3
CHOICE O OASIS .. Boisterous bay colt tired to last of five one before that in a NW2x allowance at 7 furlongs, cashing an 87 SP#. He was 4th (and last) one bback of that in the same condition at three quarters of a mile, casting a 76 SP#. Sea The Stars stepper, out of the graded placed stakes winner Darci Mambo (by Darci Brahma), was an even 6th in his prior start in the Obliging Zgreat listed stakes at a mile and a sixteenth, copping a 103 SP# though no threat. One before that he was 5th and last in the Hawks Heir listed at 9 furlongs, tiring late for an 87 SP#. Improving SP#’s could indicate a move forward for this one, who will need a bit of help on the front end to keep harrylan’s hopes of repeating as club champ alive.
.
.
.
5
EXHIBIT BEE .. Scratch bred Bernardini babbalu (by Storm Cat)wired a NW3L allowance in his previous try, also at a mile but on dirt, smacking a 104 SP#. One back of that he showed them all his heels around the oval taking a NW2L at 7 panels, stashing a 103 SP#. Bruising bay colt won a NW5L allowance, also at a mile, one before that, punching a 108 SP# moving from the back of the pack. HIs prior run was a solid 2nd in the same condition at the same distance, plastering a 105 SP# with a nice stretch move. Runner from the amdb barn of the dontbetonme group should find this easier than the Equinics; handicapper makes him co-favorite; look for him late in the lane.
.
.
.
7
PIRATIC FLYCATCHER .. Morpheus meanderer, out of the sim mare Stay Silver made little impact one back of that when 7th in the G2 The Adam Gene at 10 panels, getting a 100 SP#. In his previous run he was a fast closing 3rd in the Battle Tough listed stakes at 9.5 furlongs, garnering a 102 SP# from the middle of the pack. Scratch bred Oasis Dream honey (by Kris S.) won her last start, a NW4L allowance at 8 furlongs over a yielding turf course, drilling a 105 SP# in a stalking effort. One back of that she got up to take a local bred allowance at 6 panels, dropping a 91 SP# in a five horse field. Her previous try was a victory in a NW2L allowance at 7.5 furlongs over a yielding surface, digging a 98 SP# pressing the early pace. Upstart filly is looking for her 5th straight win, would’ve had a better shot with a wet course, but could be part of an early pace struggle.
.
.
.
9
TEENY TINY BELL .. Sebring stag, out of the sim mare Australian Spirit (by Australia) won an open allowance at 7.5 panels one before that, zipping a 98 SP# in a four horse affair.
