Here is a closer look at the field:

#6
the road to vegas given88 barn q cassell 7/1

Representing the GR Simsters Residency is this three year old scratch bred son of QUALITY ROAD ( x DEPUTY MINISTER x UNBRIDLED). He started his career hot with four straight wins including a G3 win at the “Trixy Delight’s Special”. Since then he has four starts at G1, one at G2, and one Stakes and has not found a spot on the board in any of those. He showed nice 106 speed last time out and if he can repeat that he will certainly be in the mix.

#14
kyogift duets jb3fumble barn j ingram 14/1

Representing the Elite Racing Club is this three year old son of DEEP FIELD out of the Sim Mare SOPHIE’S DUET . He comes in off a third place finish last time out when he ran 103 speed at this same distance at the “Jacob Hirsch”. That broke a streak of four straight finishes where he finished off the board with two being at G3 and two being at Stakes races. He had a nice two year old season and hopes to get back on track here as he competes out of the fourteen hole.

#4
boche clavao derbyhaack barn o a haack 15/1

Representing the Latinos Del Mundo Residency is this three year old son of ARROGATE out of the Sim Mare ANGEL HAACK. He has finished in the money in six of his seven career starts including four wins. He had a nice runner-up finish two back at the G2 “Jacob Hirsch” when he ran career best 104 speed and almost was able to close for the win. He followed that up with a win at allowance race in Maryland that should serve as a good prep for his start here today. He should compete but may need to find an extra gear if he hopes to find a spot on the board.

#10
nasty b baubles barn jd fendlay jr. 21/1

Representing the Hoosier Racing is this three year old scratch bred son of ALMASTY ( x POLISH NUMBERS x EASY GOER ). He comes in having competed in six straight Stakes races including a G2 and G3 start. Two back he won the “Vomarramov Dirt Sprint” and last time out he finished fourth at the “Fusaichi Flyer Dirt Memorial”. He has yet to post 100 speed and will likely need that here to compete with this bunch. He comes in well rested and will give it his all and with a little luck might find challenge as they head for home.

#1
graybeard b missbarbie barn l fenner 24/1

Representing the Only Stayers Residency is this three year old son of ILIAD out of the Sim Mare HEAVEN SENT BARB . He has finished in the money in all nine of his career starts with equal results in all finishing spots on the board. He ran 100+ speed for the first time last time out when he finished second at the “Heat Seeking Dirt Sprint”. As a Canadian, it is nice to see a Canadian bred competing in this big race and it would be a thrill to see the Maple Leaf flying high in the winner’s circle.

#7
start a flame stormboot2 barn w cahill 6/1

Representing the Midas Residency is this three year old son scratch bred son of WAR FRONT ( x UNBRIDLED’S SONG x GIANT’S CAUSEWAY). He comes in off a runner-up finish at the G2 “Carry Forward” where he ran 106 speed and came from way back before being beaten by a neck to UPTOWNSEXYBROWN. Three other Graded Stakes starts resulted in a fifth, eighth and ninth place finish but they were all at a mile or greater. He will fare better at this distance and will look to seek revenge for the close result last time out.

#11
big fight vinery barn p bangs 7/1

Representing the Blazing Saddles Residency is this three year old son of VIOLENCE out of the Sim Mare GRANDE GIMLET . He has finished in the money in eight of his nine career starts including 7 wins. He comes in HOT having won five straight with the last two being impressive wins at the “Mister Amad Dirt Sprint” and the “Summer Sluice Dirt Sprint”. He showed nice speed in both of those and if her can repeat that here he might just keep that winning streak going.

#2
jokes on pete tenderfoot barn t small 7/1

Representing Empire State Racing is this three year old son of PRACTICAL JOKE out of the Sim Mare FORTHELOVEOFPETE . He has had a great start to the 2020 campaign with two Stakes wins and a runner-up in his last three. Last time out he ran 105 speed over 6.5 furlongs to take home the “Recant Dirt Challenge” in Colorado. He will face steeper competition here as he makes his first Graded Stakes start but he could be a nice long shot pick to find a spot on the board,

#8
do it for the kash kashbred5 barn k ledwith 5/1

Representing the East-West Connection Residency is this three year old scratch bred son of DISTORTED HUMOR ( x DEPUTY MINISTER x FAPPIANO). He has finished in the money in eight of his ten career starts including five wins with one coming at the G3 “The Lazaro” where he ran impressive 109 speed. Like many of his fellow competitors he prepped for this race by competing in the G2 “Carry Forward” and he finished seventh in that one. He is coming back on just five weeks rest and typically had taken seven weeks off between races. It will be interesting to see how he responds to the short layoff and if he can recapture the big speed he demonstrated two back.

#12
youarenotsofunny winningday barn k friar 9/1

Representing the Minnesota Testbarn Residency is this three year old son of GRAYDAR out of the Sim Mare COMARE . He comes in off five straight Graded Stakes starts that included 100+ speed wins at the G3 “Family of Dragons” and the G2 “Pea Shooters Handicap”. Last time out he went 8.5 furlongs at the G2 “Flat Land Derby” but he was not a factor. He should like the distance better here this time out and he should be in the mix as he competes out of the twelve hole.

#13
uptownsexybrown desertdog barn e sharp 14/1

Representing All-Stars Racing is this three year old son of UPTOWNCHARLYBROWN out of the Sim Mare BIG SEXY BABE . He has finished in the money in nine of his eleven career starts including two Stakes wins and a G2 win. The G2 win came last time out when he ran 106 speed at this same distance at the “Carry Forward”. Watch for him to come flying out of the gate and go to the lead in hopes of fending off any late charges from the competition. A win today will put him well over five-hundred thousand dollars in career earnings.

#9
link to curlin massatogatb barn f gosset 13/1

Representing the Universal Racing Club is this three year old scratch bred son of CONNECT ( x ALYSHEBA x UNBRIDLED’S SONG). He comes in off thirteenth place finish last time out at the G2 “Carry Forward” where he ran at the back of the pack from start to finish. Two back he had a nice win at the G1 “Buccaneer Handicap” where he came from well off the pace to close to win by a length. He ran 102 speed in that one and will likely need to improve on that and post career best speed if he hopes to find a spot on the board against this impressive field of fourteen.

#3
jungle pirate wolfmoonranch barn e seifert 6/1

Representing the Northwest Racing Circuit is this three year old scratch bred son of LION HEART ( x DEHERE x CARO). He has finished in the money in ten of his twelve career starts including an impressive eight wins. He has two wins at each level of Graded Stakes and is closing in on one and a half million dollars in earnings. Last time out he finished third in the G2 “Carry Forward” and was just narrowly beaten by two of his competitors here. He is definitely one to watch and should go off as one of the favorites.

Representing Hispano Parlante is this three year old son of DANSILI out of the Sim Mare K’S SMART EMPIRE. He comes in off a win last time out at an allowance race in England where he ran 86 speed over 5 furlongs. He will compete in his first Stakes race of any kind here, face the biggest field of his career, and go longer that he ever has before. It will be interesting to see how he responds to so many obstacles and to contend he will need to have a career best performance.
