Some may think its like comparing apples to oranges since as we all know sim sires and their real life counter parts can produce rather different types of animals. One of the perfect examples is the great sire Sadler’s Wells which in the sim produces wonderful dirt horses but in the real world has very few on the main track. Stats like these are what make the sim its own unique entity.

This week we look at the stallion Broken Vow (Unbridled X Nijinsky II) who on the race track was a grade two winner of 725,296 . On the track Broken Vow was a late bloomer not making a start until three years of age. He never hit full stride until four years old where he started ten times winning five including the gr2 350k Iselin Hndcp and the gr3 100k Ben Ali S.

Broken Vow has become a rather hot sire in the thoroughbred world producing several top fillies in gr1 winners Unbridled Belle, Cotton Blossom, and juvenile phenom Private Vow. In comparison the sim has yet to see any consistant production from Broken Vow. Across the board his ability pales in comparison to his real life production. He has one colt, A Vow To Be A Slew who has won a little over a quarter of the purse money accumulated by his offspring.

It’s my opinion that he could use a little boost to bring him more in line to what is going on with the actual sire. I look for this to happen this year because its really hard not to have noticed his tremendous success of 2006-2007.

Here are the figures of his real life progeny. Stats are taken from 211 actual starters

67.8 % winners from starters

5.7 % stakes winners from starters

1.9% graded stakes winners from starters

average earnings per starter lifetime 46,972

average earnings per 2yo str 17,613

Best Horses

Unbridled Belle 1,116,500

Private Vow 2yo 382,508

Here are the figures of his sim progeny stats are taken from 136 sim starters

47.8% winners from starters

2.2% stks winners from starters

0% graded stakes winners from starters

Average earning per starter lifetime 30,152

Average earnings per 2 yo starter 7,636

Best Horses A Vow To Be A Slew 1.2 million

Ucantbreakmyspirit 2yo 62K

Private Vow is a result of 5 X 5 male line breeding of Native Dancer 4 x 5 to Wild Risk (FR)

[5

post-5270","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-breeding
["GET
