Northern California<\/st1:place> plays host to \u2018The Virginia Danseur Bonanza<\/B>,\u2019 a 7 \u00bd furlong race over the firm turf for 2 year olds. All entries will be trying to bring home the bulk of the $75,000 purse as they come down the stretch Saturday.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Just one question before we get into the race preview coverage, have you just thought for one second why Northern California<\/st1:place> would host this race instead of West Virginia<\/st1:place><\/st1:State> or Virginia<\/st1:place><\/st1:State>??\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Just wondering.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Hehehe.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Ok, here we go.<\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

(PP1 \u2013 3\/1) Booksmart<\/B>, of the Hillside<\/B> stable, will be making his second consecutive start here in Northern California, not a bad move since he fared well here last time by winning The Stormy Event Bonanza<\/B>, another 7 \u00bd furlong turf race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This Tapit X Danzig X Codex colt fired his best turf SP # to date in that one, a 71 SP #.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He has yet to fire as high as he did in his debut, a 76 SP # going 5 furlongs over the dirt.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The Hillside<\/B><\/st1:place> connection tried dirt in the next two races, but Booksmart<\/B> dropped off to a 68 and 69 in a Stakes and open allowance attempt.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>That was when the surface switch was called for, and Booksmart<\/B> responded grabbing a 2nd<\/SUP> two races back and then winning his last here in Northern California<\/st1:place>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Look for him to run right off the pace and compete for the third place finish.<\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

(PP2 \u2013 2\/1) Dragon City<\/B>, of the Asoiaf<\/B> stable, looks like he will be taking pictures after the race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This Awesome Again X Carson City X Lyphard colt is the only entry to have fired a SP in the 80\u2019s.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Although he did that in a MSW race, I think he can handle the step up in company.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Just running two times, Dragon City<\/B> won in his second attempt at 7 furlongs as he took to the turf like a woman does to shopping, with a vengeance. Dragon<\/B><\/st1:PlaceName> <\/B>City<\/B><\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place> won the MSW 7 furlong turf race with an 80 SP # and a three length lead at the wire.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Dragon<\/B><\/st1:PlaceName> <\/B>City<\/B><\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place> is a front-running colt, so look for him to break fast and try to wire the field.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I think this is a nice placement for the Asoiaf<\/B> stable and I will be waving the Dragon<\/B><\/st1:PlaceName> <\/B>City<\/B><\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place> flag coming down the stretch.<\/P>

(PP3 \u2013 2\/1) Make Haste(IRE)<\/B>, of the Quickcall<\/B> stable, is the co-morning line favorite along with Dragon<\/B><\/st1:PlaceName> <\/B>City<\/B><\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This Street Cry(IRE) X Nureyev X Diesis(GB) colt is almost a carbon copy of Dragon<\/B><\/st1:PlaceName> <\/B>City<\/B><\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Make Haste(IRE)<\/B> is also making his Stakes debut after winning a MSW turf race in his last out.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The win was with authority, even though it was only a 6 furlong trip, as the colt was pulling away down the stretch.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>A sign that he could like the added distance today??\u00a0 <\/SPAN>We\u2019ll have to see.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He fired a 76 SP # in that win, very close to the 80 fired by Dragon City<\/B>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Make Haste(IRE)<\/B> seems to be a better dirt sprinter than Dragon City<\/B>, but who cares?!?\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Today, we are running right under the classic route distance on the turf.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Look for a battle down the stretch as Make Haste(IRE)<\/B> tries to catch Dragon<\/B><\/st1:PlaceName> <\/B>City<\/B><\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I will throw out a 2-3 exacta in this one.<\/P>

(PP4 \u2013 6\/1) Buzzy<\/B>, of the Rmkj18<\/B> stable, is the long shot of the race and for good reason.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This Buddha X Danehill X Alzoa colt is not on the right surface.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>In his one attempt on the turf, he fired a SP # nearly 10 below his worst dirt race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Not only that, but Buzzy<\/B> got the \u2018Buzz<\/B>\u2019 in that turf attempt right here in Northern California against none other than Booksmart<\/B>, and Booksmart<\/B> isn\u2019t even the best horse in this field!!\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I would recommend to the fine Rmkj18<\/B> stable that Buzzy<\/B> belongs in a DIRT<\/B> route, heck, maybe even another DIRT<\/B> off-track since he fired his best SP # of 77 in a dirt route in the slop.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Look for Buzzy<\/B> to be crossing the wire long after Dragon<\/B><\/st1:PlaceName> <\/B>City<\/B><\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place> has taken his pictures.<\/P>

(PP 5 \u2013 3\/1) Gallant Dancer<\/B>, of the Coffee<\/B> stable, probably has the nicest breeding of the bunch, in my worthless opinion.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This Sadler\u2019s Wells X Daylami(IRE) X Theatrical(IRE) colt won his only race to-date.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The Coffee<\/B> stable definitely hit the bull\u2019s eye in that placement as a stepping stone to this race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>In that MSW 7 furlong race, Gallant Dancer<\/B> closed from 3 lengths back to pull away and win by 1 \u00be lengths, firing a 63 SP #.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>My only concern with Gallant Dancer<\/B> is his stepping up to Stakes Company right after a win in MSW Company.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Not something, I really care for.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>If he improves on his last out, Gallant Dancer<\/B> could either be fighting Booksmart<\/B> for 3rd<\/SUP> or battling Make Haste(IRE)<\/B> down the stretch as they try to run down Dragon<\/B><\/st1:PlaceName> <\/B>City<\/B><\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place>.<\/P>
