Sales Barn Gearing Up<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/B><\/P>

Auction 3420 – <\/SPAN><\/B>Last week just about every category in the auction increased and this week it was the exact opposite.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/B>Only four areas went <\/B>up, <\/B>horses selling for more than $1.00, the top selling horse, the total auction sales which took a huge jump and the average sale price which also took a major leap upwards.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>All the other categories went down.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Next week with the start of the STC competition we should really see some changes.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I would expect to see more horses sold for over a $1.00, less going to the Computer Stable and the average going up.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It should be an interesting week.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Auction Observations:\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/B>It was cold again this week and I was glad to see my table by the fireplace had a big “Press” card on it.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It helps to know people in high places.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It was awfully noisy as the Auction staff was busy adding tables and building an addition on to the bar area.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The wood dust, the fireplace smoke and the ring dust made it hard to breathe but Cockroach<\/I><\/B> was in his element.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>\u00a0\u00a0<\/SPAN>Naturally the week Jumpmoose<\/I><\/B> isn’t around Labreche<\/I><\/B> is and I made a point of telling him that Jumpmoose<\/I><\/B> has been looking for him for weeks.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Mssbeagle<\/I><\/B> was hunting Bears<\/I><\/B> but I only saw three this week.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I hope the rest are not sick, just hibernating.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Blacksoxuk<\/I><\/B> stopped by with Gonzo<\/I><\/B> and Redalert<\/I><\/B>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>They aren’t around much and it was fun to visit with them.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Redalert<\/I><\/B> has been around practically as long as the game itself.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Fatattack<\/I><\/B> was selling some of his ‘Random’ horses but didn’t get much for them and Lenny<\/I><\/B> was being cheap, buying a 2YO for a dollar.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>A couple of Queenslanders, Greywolf<\/I><\/B> and Hawk<\/I><\/B> were sitting at the other table close to the fireplace checking out the catalog or maybe it was Squirrel<\/I><\/B> and Kbsweet<\/I><\/B> who were sitting just down the way.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Trotter, Olwhisper<\/I><\/B> and Onegoodguy<\/I><\/B> were among many watching the ringside action.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Let’s see – who else was there.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Well, there were ton’s of people there but if you aren’t active, haven’t been in the game a long time or don’t ever drop by the chatroom – your odds of getting mentioned in this column are pretty slim.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It’s mostly about things that catch my eye.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Larsonist<\/I><\/B> was buying up 2 YO’s.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I am sure he saved quite a few from the dreaded Computer Farms.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Quarter horse guy Okdavid <\/I><\/B>was there with BBaffert<\/I><\/B> and some of the Supers<\/I><\/B> were hanging around ringside talking about going to Rat’s for dinner.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Pokemyeyeo<\/I><\/B> (wins my vote for favorite name this week) and Kaif <\/I><\/B>were arguing over the merits of one of the auction consignees and I had a nice talk with Saver<\/I><\/B>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He and his dad come out to <\/SPAN>Phoenix<\/SPAN><\/st1:place><\/st1:City> every year to take in some of the spring training games.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The best part of the day was when Ts<\/I><\/B> stopped by.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He’s moved to the <\/SPAN>South Seas<\/SPAN><\/st1:place> and married a native girl.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He doesn’t have to pick up cans anymore and he’s really happy about that because he back was hurting way too much to bend over that often.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He seems happy, just sits on the beach all day with one of those umbrella drinks.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>What a life!\u00a0 <\/SPAN>So that\u2019s the auction doings for this week.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Here’s a quick look at the auction favorites.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

The Millionaires – There were 10 but I am only going to mention the top five:<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/B><\/P>

Endor<\/SPAN><\/I><\/B> <\/SPAN><\/B>reached deep into his wallet for the 3 YO bay colt by Will’s Way from fellow trainer Hakim<\/I><\/B>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Hip number 37270, Versuchung <\/B>brought the sale topping bid of $4,980,002.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The lightly raced colt has only started 12 times and has been in the money for six of them, winning two.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>His speed figure improved dramatically when he was switched to the grass last time out.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>However, the horse must be evil tempered or maybe he digs in his stall as this is his second auction appearance in the last three months.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Legends4<\/SPAN><\/I><\/B> decided he needed another filly in the barn and forked over $4,425,005 for the incredibly bred Allday,<\/B> # 144333.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Plunk5<\/I><\/B> worked two jobs to pay for this breeding but the filly has been a bit of a disappointment on the racetrack only winning one of her seven starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Stoner’s<\/I><\/B> has some tricks up his sleeve and will doubtless turn this filly by Ghostzapper out of an A.P. Indy mare, around.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>If he can’t, he has a nice addition to his broodmare band.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Miss Schoendienst<\/SPAN><\/B>, # 151756 is a stable transfer from Bluecrab<\/I><\/B> to Knowlton<\/I><\/B>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Bluecrab<\/I><\/B> has been seen in the company of Bentnose<\/I><\/B> and it cost Knowlton<\/I><\/B> $3,398,046 to bail his brother out.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The 2 YO plain chestnut filly is by Red Ransom and out of a Theatrical mare.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>With all that turf breeding, she made her only start on the dirt.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The boys probably started her on that surface to keep Bentnose<\/I><\/B> from appropriating her, as he is not the smartest of mobsters.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She finished last in that race with a 46 SF.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Now if Bluecrab<\/I><\/B> can just stay away from gambling<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Luvsthekey<\/SPAN><\/I><\/B> paid $2,125,874 for a nice looking red colt named Architech Ryan<\/B>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He’s by Bernardini out of a Fu Peg mare and is another that has won only one of his seven starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He is 4\/7 in the money and Theocz<\/I><\/B> was the consigner of this well-bred colt.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Richgins<\/I><\/B> is hoping he can turn around the downhill spiral this colt is in.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Another stable transfer was made with # 664 Pioneer Boone<\/B>, a 2YO white faced chestnut colt.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Juveefarm<\/I><\/B> bred this one to match a name he had already picked out.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Remembering his days as a child playing in the woods behind his house, he bred the horse and named it for his favorite historical character.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Pioneer Boone<\/B> is by Pioneering out of a Sir Daniel mare whose daddy was Boone’s Mill.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He’s never beaten a horse nor won any money, but Moriahspop<\/I><\/B> spent $1,650,003 to keep him in the family.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It’s a good thing my brother doesn’t play this game.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I can remember him singing all 21 verses of Davy Crockett when he was seven, in the Turf Club Lounge one evening after the races at <\/SPAN>Rillito<\/SPAN><\/st1:PlaceName> <\/SPAN>Park<\/SPAN><\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place>.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>
