While many owners and stables are gearing up for the Breeders Bowl, this fine group of horses will be taking to the track here in Newmarket for another prestigious Grade 1 race, the Eclipse Stakes.\u00a0 The track will be listed as Firm Turf and the horses will travel a grueling 10 furlongs to try and capture this prized race to add to their r\u00e9sum\u00e9s.\u00a0 Only one horse of this twelve horse field will make it to the winners circle to get their picture taken, but who will it be?\u00a0 The morning line odds have been posted and post positions have been drawn.\u00a0 So let\u2019s take a preview of this nice looking field and see if we can find some horses to put on our tickets at the betting window.<\/p>\n

This 5 year old gelding has recently been running in Claiming races and did pick up a win on the turf back in June.\u00a0 His lack of Stakes experience will not be to his favor here in Newmarket against this much more seasoned field.\u00a0 This race looks a little big for him and thus the odds makers showing little kindness as they make him one of the longer choices in this field.<\/p>\n

This horse last ran in Surrey on 09\/15\/2019 in his first Graded race.\u00a0 He wasted no time putting away that G3 field by 2 \u00be lengths when he rallied down the stretch in the Chosen Stakes.\u00a0 Yet he gets little attention after that performance in the morning line odds as he takes a jump in Class to compete in the Eclipse.<\/p>\n

The odds makers show no love to this horse and make him their longest choice in the field.\u00a0 However, I am unsure that this horse going off at 22\/1 is deserved.\u00a0 He earned his G2 badge this season back in May in The Griffen Stakes and ran a respectable race in the G1, The Queen\u2019s Dish.\u00a0 He made a modest closing attempt his last time out in the G1, Big Red Stakes.\u00a0 He could be a horse to consider on your exotic tickets.<\/p>\n

With moderate success on the Allowance circuit, this 4 year old colt has not won since July 2018.\u00a0 He is a non-stakes winner and is taking a leap in Class to be here.\u00a0 In his last outing in Hong Kong, he ran in the $27,000 NW5L Allowance race and came in second to a more experienced horse.\u00a0 He did run a respectable 114 speed rating that day and he will need to bring that with him against this field.<\/p>\n
