I’ve mentioned in prior articles, when I enter a horse into a field, I don’t scout out the competition.\u00a0\u00a0 That held true this week and I ended up entering two horses from Thechallenge2 stable into the same race.\u00a0 And they both have win streaks, so at best, one could extend their streak, at worse, they both get defeated<\/p>\n
The race would be a $15,000 Starter Allowance, held on the turf, at a distance of 6.5 furlongs.\u00a0 Only five horses would be running in the race, giving better chances that one of the stables two entrants could extend their streak.\u00a0 VYZA BOOTS had a four race win streak on the line (two of the wins with the stable) and would be racing against stablemate VYZA FRANCE who sported a 6-race win streak.\u00a0 VYZA BOOTS was the third betting choice at 2.7-1, slightly better than VYZA FRANCE who was 2.8\/1; so two of the remaining runners had better odds in the race.<\/p>\n
Boots would get a bit better position in the early stages, running third and a little more than a length off the lead.\u00a0 France was further back in 4th, about three behind the leader.\u00a0 Going to the half, Boots dropped back just a tad while France drifted about five off the leader.\u00a0 Heading to the three-quarters, Boots was moving up and took over second with sights on the leader.\u00a0 France was not going anywhere, dropping even further back.<\/p>\n
The stretch run would find Boots digging in and taking over the lead.\u00a0 The filly would gallop to the line to be the victor with a 100 speed rating.\u00a0 France would finish fourth, more than seven lengths off her stablemate and a speed of 86.<\/p>\n
Vyza Boots received a pair of sire cards, both G’s and 22 BP’s, and now has won 5 in a row.\u00a0\u00a0 As for Vyza France, she gets no sire cards as, by rule, if more than one horse is in a race for a stable, the best finisher will get the cards.\u00a0\u00a0 France did get 4 BP’s which are also reduced due to more than one horse from a stable being in a race.\u00a0 And with the diminished speed rating, which is showing that she is taking on some wear from the nice win streak she had, she will be sent to the farm to rest for a while.<\/p>\n

The stable also had UNNATRUALLY DARK compete this week in a long 12-furlong starter allowance with a low entry tag of $3,500.\u00a0 He has done well in his last four starts in the claiming class, finishing first or second in each outing.\u00a0\u00a0 This week, I was a bit surprised as the jockey took him straight out to the lead, a place he has not taken since the end of 2017.\u00a0\u00a0 No other horse in the field of six wanted to be the early runner and Dark looked comfortable there.\u00a0 He wasn’t pressured and had a decent four length lead at the half.\u00a0 The 4\/5 second choice looked like he could go all the way but the 1\/2 favorite, who was running second made a strong run and was able to overtake and draw away from Dark leaving us to finish second in his dust, some four strides back.\u00a0 A total of 10 BP’s and 1 G-card.<\/p>\n

Cards this week were nothing to brag about, summing up at 3-G’s.\u00a0 Total cards for the year are 3-D\u2019s, 4-E\u2019s, 1-F and 3-G.\u00a0\u00a0 36 BP’s give the stable a total of 1,748.<\/p>\n
With VYZA France going to the farm, a gap at the stable now exists and has been filled by GREAT FAPP.\u00a0 This 4 year old gelding was gained through a $5,000 claiming race (which he won) at the end of June.\u00a0\u00a0 He’s raced on both surfaces but likes the turf much better.\u00a0\u00a0 He’s best in claiming races where he has raced 9 times and has a 6-2-0 record.\u00a0 He has been pretty hot lately, slicing speeds over 100 in his last two starts.\u00a0 He’ll train for about two weeks and should be ready to run.<\/p>\n

Looking to add to the stable, two claims were made and as luck would go, someone else got the horses.\u00a0\u00a0 We’ll look for more claim opportunities to add some bodies to the farm.\u00a0 Three more should be running this week.<\/p>\n
