The six furlong turf stakes race for 3 and up was run under warm sun and brilliant blue skies.

Storm Pegasus was the teacher and PI Boot the student when Pegasus showed the three year old that you always need to save that little burst for the end. PI Boot ran a great race and a personal best triple figure speed for the first time. He took the lead from from Deputy’s Lasso in the backstretch just ahead of Storm Pegasus and retook the lead from Pegasus at the top of the stretch and looked like the winner. That was just about the time he started his schooling. Storm Pegasus kicked it into gear with 10 lengths to go and showed the youngster up. The Fusaichi Pegasus offspring gathered his 18th win though only his 3rd Stakes win. He’s an incredible 31 of 41 in the money and this reporter for one wonders why he isn’t entered in Stakes races more often, especially now in his prime. He has now run six straight with triple figure speed, topping out at 107. He has two Stakes wins in a row and will be looking for a three-peat next time out.

In the meantime, PI Boot the 3 year old, Awesome Again colt learned something that that you can only gain by race experience and this talented colt will have more ammo to fall back on next time out. Celtic Biter finished 4 back for third and Rubison II outlasted the fading Deputy’s Lasso for fourth. Second favorite Major Tom finished well back and looked like he was battling minor lameness throughout.

Big things are expected for PI Boot and Storm Pegasus and I will certainly be watching these two studs in the near future.

[3

post-499","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-reviews
["GET
