Challenge – Week 33

Trying to collect more cards in this challenge series was a difficult task this week. Starting things off with TETE BISMARK who came off a decent second last time out at 9 furlongs and add a smidge of distance going 9.5 this week, staying at the SAF racetrack with another smidge in moving up to a tag of $4,000 (from $3,000) in the starter allowance class. The field was full at 14, with two additional runners compared to his last start where Tete recorded a 106 speed. Once again the favorite in the race, this time at 5/2, he ran a smilar path getting away 6th. At the halfway point, he was advancing on the leaders and pushed his way into third. Still gaining ground, he wasn’t fast enough as he would lose by just shy of two lengths and finish fourth. The payout was 10 BPs and a G card and less encouraging was the drop in speed to 96.

HENNY YOUGMAN has been housed at the farm since being claimed in a 4.5 furlong dirt claiming race back in April. He’s a talented gelding in many ways, winning on both dirt and turf as well as sprint and route. His debut for the stable was on the turf at a mile distance running in a starter allowance with a $10k price tag. An 8 horse field put him in the third spot in the early fractions. He would move up one position just past the half and eventually taking the lead. But it would only last for a few steps as a late runner would roll on by and Henny would finish second by 1 1/2 lengths, losing to the favorite. Not bad for the 5/2 second choice and hopefully the second start after the rest break will be even better than the 94 speed on the lawn. 2-G cards and 20 BP’s were earned in the race.

Finally we have CHUANDONGOELURUS who has been on the fence and need to have a good race to retain his spot with the stable. He’s been off the board in his last two starts and this week was on the lawn going 7.5 furlongs in a bottom of the bowl $2,000 claimer. In the 12 horse field, he was never a threat and the closest he ever got was seventh, and that came as he crossed the line. In six starts with the stable, he earned 40 BP’s and won two races. He has been entered into the auction and pulled a G-card following the race.

Long time runner RESERVATION FOR ME is rejoining the stable. He’s been sitting in the farm since July, earning a rest break after running ten times for the stable and posting a record of 5-3-0. He’s good for running the long routes with 20 wins over 46 races coming on both surfaces. Looking for him to keep his contributions going with the stable and he’ll train and sharpen up over the next two weeks or so.

Summarazing the week, there were only 4 G-cards and 30 BP’s for the week. The stable now holds 1,510 BP’s. Already on hand is one G-card so that will be traded in with the other four picked up this week to obtain an F. This gives the stable 3-D’s, 1-E and 4-F’s. Next week three more horses will look for a spot to run and maybe we’ll be able to bump those F’s in for an E.

Trying to collect more cards in this challenge series was a difficult task this week. Starting things off
