As with all great days of racing there has to be a final race and this year it is the BB Nightcap Youth Dirt Sprint, an open 2 year old race going 4 1\/2 furlongs on the dirt and offering a purse of $125,000. This Grade III event has drawn a full field of 14 who are hoping that next year they can become a part of the BB main event.<\/P>

This colts only win came in an MSW race in his 2nd lifetime start. After a grass start 2 races back he came back into a dirt sprint stakes last time out posting his lifetime best 84 speed rating while finishing 3rd in The Surpassingly Hope Challenge stakes in West Virginia over 5.5 furlongs on the dirt. This will be his Graded stakes debut here today.\u00a0He has shown some gate speed in the past and may try to use that to his advantage in this short sprint today. This filly’s sire has a 64.5% winners rate with a 4.9% stakes winners rate. This year 39.7% of his\u00a02 year old starters have found the winners circle. This filly picked up her MSW win in her 2nd lifetime start and made it a double by winning her next allowance start. She then picked up a pair of 2nd place finishes in stakes action including 2 starts back in The Grade II Getaway Stakes where she posted her lifetime best 88 speed rating over 7 furlongs on the dirt. She tried a mile race against the boys last time out in another Grade II event in California where she finished well back but we are not sure if that is due to the distance of the race or the fact that it may be to early to ask her to run against open company. Her sprinting performances show her as a closer and it will still need to be determined whether 4.5 furlongs will be a long enough race for her to get up at the wire. This colt’s sire has a 77.6% winners rate with a 10.7% stakes winners rate and a 1.7% Graded stakes winners rate. This year 36.4% of his 2 year old starters have found the winners circle. This colt won his first 2 races of his career in the allowance ranks but that streak ended when he jumped up to the Grade II Vermont BB Juvenile where he failed to fire and finished in the middle of the pack. He came back next time to win an overnite stakes in Wisconsin which prompted a return to the Graded scene where he ran an even 6th in the first 2 year old Grade I event of the year in BC. He posted his lifetime best 87 speed rating last time out while rallying to be 2nd in the 5.5 furlong Grade III Autumn Run in Vermont. He is a closer who won his debut at today’s distance but will need to shake off the syndrom of a good race followed by a poor race if he is to develop into a future star in the sim. She is out of the mare A.P.RINCESS who was 2\/16 at the track and this is the only foal on record. This divisional unranked filly races for the Ldyssecret Stables based in Vermont at The Patures of Green. This filly’s sire has a 89.1% winners rate with a 17.3% stakes winners rate and a 5.5% Graded stakes winners rate. This year 63.2% of his 2 year old starters have found the winners circle. After breaking her maiden in her 2nd lifetime start she tried the Grade II Vermont BB Filly Juvenile where she showed some speed but eventually ended up finishing in the middle of the pack. She regressed when trying to stretch out a bit and when shortened back up to 5 furlongs last time out was able to wire a NW2L allowance field while posting her lifetime best 79 speed rating. She did race against boys in her debut race and has shown that she can take advantage of her speed in the short sprints but it would appear that this spot may be a tad difficult for her at this stage in her career. After a start on the turf in his lifetime debut this colt has gone on to win 4 out of 5 starts on the dirt including his last when he won The Grade III Autumn Run in Vermont posting a lifetime best 90 speed rating in the 5.5 furlong dirt sprint.
