A huge crowd is on hand today at the shore on New Jersey for the annual BB championship day and while all eyes are on the big races many will be very interested in the undercard which has some very good and competitive fields running today. The 2nd race is The Grade III Breeders Bowl Undercard Filly Long Route and many of the divisions top ladies have entered here today. A full field of 14 have entered and will go 12 furlongs on the dirt chasing top share of the $250,000 prize. All in all a very exciting race to be run here today. I like the long route races as you can watch the starting gate open then head to the concession stands for a beer and still make it back in time to see the stretch drive. This 2nd divisional ranked mare races for the Worldwide stables based over at the NWRC. This filly was unraced as a 2 and 3 year old but has made up for lost time with an outstandings career. She picked up 7 wins last year in her racing debut season and 4 of those were overnite stakes races. She has added 5 stake race wins to her record this year including a Grade II win in The Carden Special and has even won an added money event on the grass. She posted her lifetime best speed rating of 107 last time out while finishing 2nd in The Grade I World Cup Ladies Marathon over 12 furlongs on the dirt. She is a closer who loves the distance and is very sharp right now which is why she has been made the early line favorite for today’s race. The rider for today’s race will be McCoy (19.8%). 2)BIG BROWN(KY)—18\/1—<\/STRONG>flurgen5 sends this 3 year old filly out of STORM CAT with a record of 8-3-1-1 and lifetime earnings of $118,360. She is out of the mare MATFLY’S KRISSY who was 6\/67 at the track and who has 2 foals on record of which this filly is the only winner to date. This 9th divisional ranked filly races for the Flurgen stables based at the CR Racers residency. This filly was unraced as a 2 year old and broker her maiden in her 3rd start this year. She has picked up another allowance win and an overnite stakes race since then and posted her lifetime best 103 speed rating last time out while finishing 3rd in The Grade I Lenny G Show Stakes in Nevada where she cut all the fractions but tired in the late stretch in the 12 furlong dirt route. While she has displayed gate speed in her last 2 starts and could perhaps be the one to cut the early fractions today her last 2 wins were accomplished with a stalking style sitting a few lengths of the pace and perhaps that stradegy will be best for her today. She still needs to prove that she can win at the 12 furlong distance. This will be her first start against older mares but she has raced against the boys already with some success. 3)LIGHT THE LIGHTS(IRE)—18\/1—<\/STRONG>lissa7967 sends this 4 year old mare out of THEATRICAL(IRE) with a record of 24-6-3-3 and lifetime earnings of $171,627. She is out of the mare WORKINGWITHMUPPETS(GB) who was 6\/53 at the track and who has 2 foals on record, both winners including this mare who is a stakes winner. This 43rd divisional ranked mare races for the Nexis divsion Lissa’s stables. It took this girl some time to find the winners circle but she finally did it in her 10th lifetime start when she was stretched out to the 12 furlong distance for the first time in her career. She has picked up 5 more wins since then, all on long dirt route races of which 3 are overnite stakes races. She posted her lifetime best 100 speed rating in January of this year while winnning the 13 furlong The Our Galoot Challenge Stakes in Washington. That was her only triple digit speed rating on record and she will probably have to come up with another one here today if she plans on finishing in the top 3. She has has a tough time in her 3 lifetime Graded stakes starts so far in her career including last time out in the World Cup. She is out of the mare SALLY FOR NIJINSKY who was 1\/13 at the track and who has 5 foals on record of which 3 are winners including 2 stakes winners. This 17th divisional ranked mare races for the R&R stables based at the GR Simsters. This mare was a 3 time winner in her 2 year old season and and picked up 7 more wins last year in her 3 year old season including 5 overnite stakes races. After picking up another pair of overnite stake wins early this year she has been racing mostly in allowance races of late and enters this race on a 3 race winning streak. She matched her lifetime 2nd best speed rating of 103 earlier this year while winning The Walleye Leslie Stakes over 11 furlongs on the dirt in Indiana and posted her lifetime best mark of 105 while finishing 4th in The Grade III Denied Special over 12 furlongs on a good dirt track. She is a speedy girl who will be expected to cut the early fractions in today’s race but will need to be at her best to be able to carry her speed all the way to the wire over 12 furlongs which has sometimes been a chore for her when racing against the top company in her division. While this mare was winless in her 2 year old season she was alway’s knocking at the door and ended up breaking her maiden in her 3 year old season debut race. She won 6 more races last year including 2 overnite stakes races. She has picked up 2 more stakes wins this year including her first Graded win in The Grade III Fear of The Dark Handicap in Florida. She posted her lifetime best 105 speed rating earlier this year while finishing 3rd in The Grade III Denied Special over 12 furlongs on a good dirt track. She has finished in the money in her last 8 starts. She is a closer who sits back early and starts her move in the final turn and she won at this distance in a Grade III start just 2 races ago. 6)GALS GONE WEST(KY)—14\/1—<\/STRONG>stoners sends this 3 year old filly out of SAINT LIAM with a record of 14-5-2-3 and lifetime earnings of $283,704. She is out of the mare SLEW RUSH who was 2\/12 at the track and who has 5 foals on record of which 4 are winners including 1 stakes winner. This 10th divisional ranked horse races for the Stoners\/Champions stables based over at the Global Runners residency. This filly raced 6 times last year with one win, that coming in an MSW race and has added 4 more wins this season including an overnite stakes race victory. She comes into this race after posting her lifetime best 102 speed rating last time out while finishing 2nd in The Grade I Lenny G Show Stakes over 12 furlongs on the dirt in Nevada. She will have to face the winner of that race THE TRIDENT here again today. She is a closer who sits back early and starts her move in the final turn and she showed a major speed rating improvement when she stretched out to 12 furlongs for the first time last time out. 7)FROZEN FOUR—7\/1—<\/STRONG>dixiedotco sends this 4 year old mare out of PLEASANTLY PERFECT with a record of 27-12-3-5 and lifetime earnings of $581,086. This 1st divisional ranked mare races for Dixiedotco racing based over in Vermont at The Pastures of Green. This mare was 0\/2 in her 2 year old season and started on off tracks in her first 3 lifetime starts. Once she broker her maiden last year though she immediatly went on a 4 race winning streak while running out her conditions in the allowance ranks. She was switched to the turf for a while last year and picked up another pair of allowance wins on the lawn. She switched back to the dirt in October last year and closed out the year with another pair of allowance wins. She picked up her first stakes win in her 2007 debut race and has picked up 3 more overnite stakes win since including 1 on the lawn. She picked up her lifetime best 104 speed rating last time out while finishing 2nd to the very sharp K’S ARAKU in the World Cup Ladies Survivor and it is probably a good thing for this field that K’s has decided to pass on this race today. One advantage this mare may have is her versatile running style being able to compete both as a closer and a speed horse and she will be able to see how the race develops before committing to any one running style. It is interesting to note that while she has won at the long route distances in her career this will be her first start at the 12 furlong distance in her career today. 8)NANCY’S BOOTS(KY)—15\/1—<\/STRONG>qhorseguy sends this 3 year old filly out of GOLDEN MISSILE with a record of 20-3-6-3 and lifetime earnings of $313,385. This 5th divisional ranked filly races for the Vermont division of The Red Dirt Runners based over at The Patures of Green. After winning her MSW race in her second lifetime start as a 2 year old it would be 11 more starts before she would once again find the winners circle. She picked up her 3rd lifetime win 2 starts back in another allowance race on an sloppy track in Dubai where she posted her lifetime best 102 speed rating over 12 furlongs. While she has yet to win a stakes race she has finished in the top 3 in her last 5 added money events including a couple of Graded Stakes events. While she usually has run as a closer sitting in the mid pack early she did display some gate speed last time out and it is still unclear whether that is a change of stradegy for this filly or was simply due to the short field in that race. 9)CSI SUPER—8\/1—<\/STRONG>super21 sends this 4 year old mare out of POINT GIVEN with a record of 29-10-5-4 and lifetime earnings of $894,623. This 6th divisional ranked mare races for Supers More Evil Than The Evil Empire stables based at Del\/Penn National. This mare broker her maiden in her 7th and final start in her 2 year old season. She picked up 5 wins in her 3 year old campaign including 3 stakes wins of which the hilite was the Del\/Penn restricted F\/M Marathon race. She has added 4 more stakes victories to her record this year including a pair of Graded events in The Grade II Susan G. Komen For The Cure Stakes in Ascot and The Grade II Big Dessert Stakes in New Mexico where she posted her lifetime best 105 speed rating over the 12 furlong dirt race. Last time out in the World Cup she was unable to get the lead early in the race where she likes to run and ended up tiring in the latter stages. She is a speed horse who will ensure an honest pace in today’s race and while usually running longer proved in New Mexico that she can be a force at the 12 furlong distance. The rider for today’s race will be Benisz (26.2%) who may use his home field advantage today to try and outride some of the jockey’s who are shipping in for the BB races this weekend. 10)THE TRIDENT(KY)—15\/1—<\/STRONG>asoiaf sends this 3 year old filly out of GHOSTZAPPER with a record of 14-7-2-3 and lifetime earnings of $498,470. She is out of the he-mare RAGING RIVER who was 1\/16 at the track. This 2nd divisional ranked filly races for the Given stables based at the GR Simsters. This filly started on the dirt as a 2 year old and then switched to the turf in her 2nd start and actually broker her maiden on the lawn. She was switched back to the dirt last November where she picked up an allowance win but struggled in her final 2 starts as a freshman, both in added money events. This year she has picked up the pace with 5 wins including her last 3 starts, all stakes events. She won The Grade III Battle of The Trident Epic stakes in Utah 2 starts back and then came back to win The Grade I The Lenny G Show stakes over 12 furlongs on the dirt in Nevada where she posted her lifetime best 105 speed rating and defeated a few others who are entered in today’s race. She is a pace presser who should sit right on the tails of the early speed and then make her move in the final turn and stretch drive. This will be her first start against older mares but if you think she can overcome that feat the 15\/1 price will be a handsome return for her backers. This mare was unraced as a 2 year old and after a start on the turf was switched to the dirt where she ended up winning 5 races as a 3 year old including an overnite stakes race. She picked up another stakes win in her only win so far this season in The Wildly Majestic Special Stakes where she posted her lifetime best 103 speed rating in the 11 furlongs dirt race. She made her debut Graded race start 2 race back with a 3rd place finish in The Grade II Big Dessert Stakes before fading in The Grade I World Cup Snub Championships last time out where the 16 furlong distance proved to be just to much for her. She is a mid pack closer\/stalker who should be right in the thick of things down the stretch drive. The cut back in distance for today’s race will be much to her liking. She has picked up 5 wins this year including a pair of overnite stakes races. She posted her lifetime best 102 speed rating while finishing 2nd in The Grade II Big Dessert Stakes in New Mexico and she will be up againt both the 1st and 3rd place finishers from that race again here today. She is a closer who sits well back early and she had won at the 12 furlong distance but her last 2 races have been disappointing albeit both have been Graded competition and she will need to pick up her game here if she wants to pick up one of the major cheques here today. This mare was unraced as a 2 year old and started her career on the turf where she won her debut MSW race and a 2nd restricted allowance race. She switched to the dirt in February this year and has picked up 3 wins including an overnite stakes race on that surface and all coming in her last 5 starts. She posted her lifetime best speed rating of 98 while winning The Pinkie Apex Bonanza stakes over 12 furlongs on the dirt in Newmarket 2 starts back.\u00a0 That figure leaves her well short of others in this field and she will have to show significante improvement in order to have a chance at picking up a cheque here today. She is a midpack closer who has won at the distance but in her only Graded start so far in her career last time out at the World Cup she found the competition a little to stiff for her liking.
