California<\/SPAN><\/B><\/st1:place><\/st1:State> – While the East coast is busy with the Breeder’s Bowl, here in <\/SPAN>California<\/SPAN><\/st1:place><\/st1:State> we are showcasing the NWRC Cavalcade Cup races.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The Turf Distaff is for 3 & up fillies and mares, although only three and five year-olds were entered, and will carry the Cup purse of $250,000.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Although there is plenty of haze in the air from the <\/SPAN>California<\/SPAN><\/st1:place><\/st1:State> fires, the only smoke around here will be from the feet of the runners going a mile and three-eights.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Here is a look at the field by post.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

On the hedge will be Victory Flight<\/B> (10\/1) a 5 YO speckled gray mare by Unbridled Song.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Trained by Melbry852<\/I><\/B>, she has won 11 of her 36 career starts and comes into this race off a winning effort last time out in a 12 furlong allowance.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She probably prefers the front end but is versatile enough that she can also sit just behind the leaders and pounce down the stretch.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>We have it on good authority that she is training well and that at 10\/1 she might be worth a gamble.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Stop The Groom T<\/SPAN><\/B> (2\/1) will be led out of the Priceless<\/I><\/B> stable and is a tall, 5 YO gray mare by Runaway Groom.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She has seen the winner’s circle 12 times from 49 starts, although the last time was over nine months ago.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She seems to be in a good form cycle as she ran second in The Time Traveler<\/I> and was third in The Sky Charm<\/I> before flopping in the Grade I<\/I><\/B>, Canada Turf<\/I><\/B>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Throw that last one out as being too tough for her and she looks good in here.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>\u00a0<\/SPAN><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Breaking from post three will be The Kings Hunter<\/B> (3\/1) a shapely young 3YO filly by Azamour.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The dark brown filly hasn’t done much lately; her best recent finish was six back when she ran 3rd<\/SUP> in the Grade I, 1000 Guinness<\/I><\/B>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She has won four of 18 but has been running against the very best and word around the backside is that she is training extremely well.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She will like the class drop and is listed as one of the favorites.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Ticketman0<\/I><\/B> will saddle.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Squirrel3<\/SPAN><\/I><\/B> will lead up Subtlety<\/B> (6\/1) a pretty blood bay 3 YO filly.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She is lightly raced with only 10 starts and she has won three of them.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Best of all she is 7\/7 in the money on the grass, never being worse than 3rd <\/SUP>since switching surfaces and with her improving speed figures should be very competitive in this race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The distance may be the unknown factor here but she has been closing well in all of her races.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She was second last time out at a mile, has a very good trainer and is well placed here.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Xtremely a Lady<\/SPAN><\/B> (7\/1) is a bright 5 YO chestnut mare by Galileo and she is conditioned by Causeway<\/I><\/B>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She is a solid allowance mare and has won 4 of her 30 starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She has been running much shorter distances lately but has run well at this distance before.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She has hit the board but is another that has been winless for some time.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>With 30 starts under her belt, she has some leg problems but it is always possible she has a few more good races left in her.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Lemon Drop Kid will be represented by Labeled Black<\/B> (11\/1) a 3 YO, dark chestnut filly owned and trained by Jdawg06.<\/I><\/B>\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She has raced over her head occasionally, but tries really hard when entered right.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She has run in all class of races, from Grade1’s down to allowances.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She has finished second in her last two starts, both allowances, but she is still eligible for non-two life with only a maiden win some nine months ago.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

House Of Ballads<\/SPAN><\/B> (9\/2) is good moving, 3 YO dark bay filly by Moon Ballad.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She’s got the breeding to run all day and has won four of her 12 starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Ably trained by Goldcity,<\/I><\/B> she is coming in off a win last time out in The Smelly Mama<\/I>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She went wire to wire in that and the tactic has worked well in the past for her so she will probably try it again on Saturday.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She’s got the speed, loves the distance and should give a good accounting of herself.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

On the outside will be Tons Of Guns <\/B>(6\/1) a plain, bay, 3YO filly by Langfuhr.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She has won two of her 22 starts but is another that has been winless in sometime.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She finished a good second two back in The Nijinsky Needle<\/I> at 13 furlongs on the dirt.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She is switching back to the turf for this race and the only bump on her horizon may be the race will be too short for her.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Trainer Hamster<\/I><\/B> prepped her with a sharp 3\/8 work Tuesday in an effort to sharpen her up.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

That\u2019s the field for The Cavalcade Cup Turf Distaff.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It is a hard race to handicap but I see House Of Ballads<\/B> going to the front with Subtlety<\/B> catching her at the wire.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I’m the worlds worst handicapper so don’t bet the farm!\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Good Luck to all.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>
