A short week of racing with only a pair of horses starting.\u00a0 SWEET FOAL OF MINE, a five year old gelding was entered into an 8.5 furlong claiming race, with a very rich $150,000 claiming tag.\u00a0 It’s been a long time since the stable had a horse pushed that high.\u00a0\u00a0 He was claimed back in April for a price of $10,000 in a mile race that he won.\u00a0\u00a0 His first start for the stable was in a starter allowance with the same tag price, with a distance of 8.25 furlongs.\u00a0 He was a decent distance off the leader in that race but came on strong and took the win.\u00a0\u00a0 This week he sought his third straight….and it came.\u00a0 He found himself a good 7 strides off the leader at the half way point, which was the same distance as his prior race that he won.\u00a0 He made a steady drive towards the lead and was nearly four back as the field hit the stretch.\u00a0 He fired through the stretch and as the 5\/2 second choice, took the lead and won by more than a full stride.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The BP’s got chewed up a bit with travel costs, netting 15.\u00a0 He did extremely well with the boost in claiming levels and popped a 107 speed.\u00a0\u00a0 Field of 7 allowed two card selections, both being G’s.\u00a0\u00a0 Now a question for the readers…should we move this one into allowance company next, or keep in the higher claiming\/starter allowance levels?<\/p>\n
THIRSTY ARCHIE is also a five year old gelding and was converted to the grass after a long history of dirt races.\u00a0 Coming into this week, he had a record of 4-1-1 and hit the board in all 6 grass runs and proofing to be a success story.\u00a0\u00a0 Sticking with the grass, he was directed into another $2.000 claiming race and stayed at the KY track, which saved on all travel expenses.\u00a0 The distance was a short 4.5f, a drop of a notch from the 5.5f he ran earlier in the month.\u00a0\u00a0 He went to the lead right away and was pressured up until the half where he was able to break away but could only get roughly a stride ahead before facing a challenge from the 7\/2 second choice who battled Archie to the wire.\u00a0 Archie, the 2\/1 favorite had the nose that hit the line first and earned his fifth win on the grass, as well as his 17th career win.\u00a0 A total of six wins came while held within Thechallenge2 stables.\u00a0 25 BP’s were a nice addition for the win and the 10-horse field rewarded the stable with 3 sire cards.\u00a0 2 were G’s, 1 was an F.<\/p>\n
Total BP’s were 40 with 4-G cards and 1-F card.\u00a0 1,219 BP’s are growing in the bank and as for cards, after adding the G-cards to those already on hand, and trading a few in, the stable has:\u00a0 3-D, 1-E, 2-F, 2-G.<\/p>\n
A pair of horses are done resting at the farm and have been carted over to the stable.\u00a0\u00a0 FROST ADVISORY was bred last year trading in sire cards and breeding to a mare that the stable retired.\u00a0 This lady has a record of 4-2-0 in seven starts in a mix of dirt and turf races.\u00a0\u00a0 While she is not a superstar, as she has been in claiming races, she has held her own and will be trained for a week or two and continue with her success….I hope.<\/p>\n
VYZA FRANCE is another horse that was repointed to the turf after a long series of dirt races.\u00a0 Success has come as reflected in her 5-2-0 record in seven starts.\u00a0 She has won her last three races and was given a few weeks break.\u00a0\u00a0 We’re looking for this success story to continue.<\/p>\n
The adventure continues this week but on a small scale with two horses sharpening up for a start if a decent field can be found.<\/p>\n
