Once again we are here to check out race 10 on Saturdays card, TJE UQG SPRINTER CHALLENGE, a stakes ran over seven and a half furlongs on the firm turf for all two year olds. Typical of these type of races it looks a trick event, and of the six starters there looks to be five possible winners. Lets go through the card and see if we can make any kind of prediction.

1) VORBARA vor 611 R Williams 3/1

2 yo colt

Kingmambo x Deputy Minister x Secretariat

3 runs 2 wins $54840

Beautifully bred colt, he has raced at Ascot exclusively and returns once again for his fourth career run. his previous three visits have yielded an all the way MSW win over seven furlongs and lto he once again led from the gun and won a $46200 allowance over todays trip of a mile. Both of these wins came after running sixth on his debut where he showed some early toe over five and a half furlongs before fading. His two victories were both earned with a speed figure of seventy three and he must improve on that if he is to figure here. Tough task perhaps particularly as his regular jockey has deserted him in favor of the favorite. Should improve but whether he can improve enough is the ten million dollar question.

2) FASTEST PLUMBER wolves 133011 M Day 7/2

2 yo colt

Jump Start x Kingmambo x Hansel

7 runs 3 wins 1 second 2 thirds $105400

Looked half decent on dirt, on which he had his first five runs, winning his maiden and finishing third in two stakes races. Tried on the turf two runs back and showed immediate improvement to win a $46200 nw2l allowance in Victoria, leading from trap to wire and scoring with a pb 80 speed figure. Moved back up into stakes class lto and showed his turf debut was no fluke by once again leading all the way to land his first stakes comfortably and once again return with a new pb speed figure of 82. If getting the extra half furlong here today may be the one to beat.

3) FRANKLYN TERRACE stormcat55 2111 J Dyson 3/1

2 yo colt

Montjeu x Fusaichi Pegasus x Saint Ballado

4 runs 3 wins $98375

Out of a remarkable mare who has produced three stakes winners from four offspring, including this one. Yet another speedster he has won at five and a half furlongs and two over todays trip. Won his stakes lto in South Africa where he made every post a winning one and came home 1 3/4 lengths clear of the field with a speed of 75. Before that raced in Germany in an owner restricted res race over the same trip and once again came home in front by 1 3/4 lengths with a pb speed of 78. Needs to find a little improvement if he wants to win this but with such nice lines this is very much possible. Definitely worthy of consideration.

4) VIVA LA VOCE sgtbones 333131 P Harzheim 5/2 f

2 yo colt

Forest Wildcat x Kingmambo x Seattle Slew

8 runs 3 wins 5 thirds $115288

Most experienced horse in the field, he became a stakes winner lto when winning over todays trip at Denmark where he just got up in the final half furlong to win by 1/4 length and record a speed figure of 81. However this was not as fast as his run previous to that when he made his stakes debut in Ostend. Once again over seven and a half furlongs he ran third behind two very smart looking colts but was rewarded with a new pb speed of 85. That gives him a big chance here so long as he is tough enough and resilient enough to shrug off his busy season.

5) MILLVIEW TWINS wyndaway3 14046 W D Bubba 53/1

2 yo colt

Tapit x Chief Bearhart x Century

5 runs 1 win $50750

Strange animal. Shocked the race goers at Newmarket with a long odds debut success in a five and a half furlongs stakes, battling hard to get up on the line by a nose and scoring with a speed of 72. Perhaps that war of attrition on the colts debut run has done something to the horses enjoyment of the game but since then he has not beaten a horse home in four attempts and has struggled to get within thirty points of that debut speed figure. This one is probably the easiest horse to call in the race as it is unlikely he will finish in front of any of these.

6) DANEHILL NINER bobby4khw 15 B Webb 3/1

2yo colt

Danehill Dancer x Forty Niner x Inverness Drive

2 runs 1 win $26500

Interesting type. Won on his first trip to the track when he won a MSW at British Columbia over six and a half furlongs , leading all the way for an easy 3 1/4 lengths victory and a speed of 72. Thrown in at the deep end lto when he competed in a seven furlongs grade 1, he was far from disgraced even though he could only manage fifth beaten 3 1/4 lengths. The four horses that finished in front of him were all stakes winners and two of them were graded stakes winners. Of the horses he finished in front of that day, several were stakes winners and he even managed to beat a previous graded winner. With natural improvement this one may turn out to be the class of the race.

POGO PREDICTS

Proven form in the book v possible improvement, that is what this race boils down to. Because DANEHILL NINER after only two runs doesn`t have a huge gulf in speed figures to make up he looks the obvious choice. VIVA LA VOLCE gets looked over due to his hectic season (2 yo`s cant go on for ever you know) but I fancy FASTEST PLUMBER to keep up his recent improvement and snatch the runners up spot with FRANKLYN TERRACE taking third.

[2

post-4928","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
