Well, with the winter still raging back home in Michigan and running low on funds and rewards points, I found myself in a sticky situation down under.\u00a0 Luckily for me, I encountered a generous family at last weeks race that invited me stay for the week at their place.\u00a0 As it turns out the G2 Randy Vet will be running on Saturday, so I can earn a few credits as well as enjoy the summer weather.\u00a0 The forecast is for 80 degrees (27 here locally) but there is a good chance of rain showers.<\/p>\n
The Randy Vet will be conducted on the Turf, which will most likely be in a yielding condition, the race is open to Fillies and Mares 4 years old and up.\u00a0 The race will cover the distance of 9.5 furlongs or 1900 meters for the metrically minded.\u00a0 We will have an abbreviated field for Saturdays event, but what it lacks in the number of entries it more than makes up for in level of talent.\u00a0 Half of the 8 starters have Graded victories on their resumes while the other half have all won listed stakes races.\u00a0\u00a0The field is evenly split beween scratchbreds and Mare breds.<\/p>\n
A quick glance at the Morning Line from the handicapper may forecast the type of race we are in store for.\u00a0 As 7 of the 8 Ladies have odds posted beteen 7\/2 and 6-1, with the lone longshot getting a modest return of 12-1.\u00a0 If the odds hold true then we could be looking at some real fireworks coming home in the stretch run.<\/p>\n
