So, most likely you\u2019ve heard of the Chronicles of Narnia<\/U>, a series of fantasy novels, one of which was made into a movie.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Well, these aren\u2019t them.<\/FONT><\/P>

Welcome to the \u201cChronicles of a Newbie\u201d, a series of articles following the footsteps of a new player to the Sim.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The various articles will dictate experiences and stories of my stable, R13Green, and me, Rachael.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>So sit back in a comfortable chair or couch, grab a virtual drink of choice, and read on!<\/FONT><\/P>

Chapter 2: Playing The Waiting Game<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/U><\/P>

I have never been a patient person.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>That\u2019s why the idea of a 72 hour waiting period scared me.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>And as I am sitting here, writing this, I am currently serving on jury duty, which is the World Cup of waiting.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>How\u2019s that for a bad break?<\/FONT><\/P>

Anyway, I work at Petco, and we sell dog clothes there.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Most of the time I think they\u2019re silly.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>But I could identify with one of them that I saw there earlier this week.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It was a black t-shirt and was written from the dog\u2019s point of view. \u00a0<\/SPAN>It said: <\/FONT><\/P>

\u201ccan we go outside?\u201d\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

\u201ccome, go outside!\u201d\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

\u201cwanna go outside?\u201d\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

\u201clet\u2019s go outside!\u201d<\/FONT><\/P>

\u201clook who\u2019s outside!\u201d <\/FONT><\/P>

\u201clook, WE\u2019RE outside!\u201d<\/FONT><\/P>

That\u2019s the way I felt during the waiting period.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Every few minutes (more like every few seconds) I\u2019d go back to the website and try to log in.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Each time I got the long paragraph explaining why I couldn\u2019t.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Yet doggedly I\u2019d return to the game, over and over again, going \u201cclick click click\u201d.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I should have been wearing that dog t-shirt, except in my case, it\u2019d be talking about horses.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>My eyes kept glancing up at the digital clock.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Somewhere in my head I was imagining it ticking, and then imagining me HEARING it tick.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I swore I was going crazy, or something.<\/FONT><\/P>

Then\u2026<\/FONT><\/P>

IT WORKED!\u00a0 <\/SPAN>WOOHOO!\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I was ecstatic.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I eagerly opened up the email containing my password, all the while wondering how the heck I was going to remember it.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I had hoped I could change the combination of letters and numbers into something I knew, but alas, I could not.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I suppose it\u2019s safer this way, with the random combination, rather than entering in a word or phrase.<\/FONT><\/P>

Either way, bada-bing!\u00a0 <\/SPAN>My five horses were there.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I skimmed over the list and clicked on the various names.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I knew that I wasn\u2019t going to get all my choices (obviously, since you make ten selections and there are only five slots available), but after I examined all of them, I was satisfied.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I had to laugh a bit though, as I couldn\u2019t really remember the choices I had made, even after sitting there for a good two hours picking and choosing.<\/FONT><\/P>

I was extremely excited and raring to go.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>What didn\u2019t click in my head was the fact that I had joined on a Sunday, and would have to WAIT the rest of the week for race results.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Augh!\u00a0 <\/SPAN>To pass the time, I decided to scope out the auction and claiming races. \u00a0<\/SPAN>I wasn\u2019t exactly sure of a strategy, but that would soon change\u2026<\/FONT><\/P>
