Not a pretty week for the Francua barn as most of what I threw out there this week just didn\u2019t run very well. However, the week was highlighted with another stakes victory along with a few horses that will advance to the next round of the ESR Queen of the Turf Challenge.<\/p>\n

BECAUSE REASONS (SPEIGHTSTOWN x UNBRIDLED x GREEN DESERT) \u2013\u00a0<\/b>Gave him his third go at running 7 furlongs on the dirt this week and he confirmed by suspicion that he wants more distance. He picked up some lengths down the stretch but was never close finishing 5th<\/sup> by 3 lengths.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n MEAN MUGGIN (SHAMARDAL x PIVOTAL x MONSUN)<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 After the debut at a mile I cut the distance to 7 furlongs and he ran out on the lead this time as opposed to off the pace, ultimately with the same result. He\u2019d end up finishing 4th<\/sup> by 3 lengths but at least I know he\u2019s a bit distance challenged now.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n ALY\u2019S SONG (MORE THAN READY x UNBRIDLED\u2019S SONG x ALYSHEBA)<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 The cut in distance produced some better results but not by much. He\u2019d finish third this week by about 3 lengths and earn a career low 74 speed fig.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n LEMONNY JONES (BIG BROWN x SMARTY JONES x LEMON DROP KID)<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 She continues to be a productive little filly as this time she\u2019d run 6 furlongs against local breds and she\u2019d go on to finish 2nd<\/sup>. That makes her 6-9 ITM with 2 victories and 4 second place finishes. She\u2019d also go on to run her top speed fig (94) this week<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n RHYTHYM SHOOTER (I AM INVINCIBLE x DUBAI MILLENNIUM x SWORD DANCE) \u2013 <\/b>He\u2019s turned into quite the little sprinter during his 2 year old season and this week he kept it going. He\u2019d go on to sprint 5 furlongs in the Alba Sea King Turf Juvenile Stakes and win by about a length posting an 83 speed fig and giving this trainer his 2nd<\/sup> stakes victory (first outside of local championships).<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n ESR Results :<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n I ended up with 3 moving on in the ESR Queen of the Turf Challenge with my best performances coming from a couple of 4th<\/sup> place finishers ADORIFY<\/b> and KING OF THE ANDALS. <\/b>Both horses showed some promise closing from way off the pace. Hopefully the jockeys can get them moving earlier in this next leg to get us a trip into the finals. The third horse JUST A PINTO OS<\/b> gets a shot as well making the cut with a 7th<\/sup> place finish and will head to the Survivor Bracket.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Studs: <\/b><\/p>\n SPERMINT POLO (PIONEEROF THE NILE x RAINBOW QUEST x HIGH TOP) \u2013 <\/b>After the debacle that was her attempt at 14 furlongs I brought her back to 10 furlongs against 75K claimers. She went against a very weak field but ultimately took care of business with a 4 length victory. The speed fig wasn\u2019t encouraging but I\u2019m also under the impression that she wasn\u2019t working very hard either.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n STALK AND PREY (CLASSIC EMPIRE x GONE WEST x DANZIG) \u2013 <\/b>This daughter of CLASSIC EMPIRE made a nice debut closing from 9th<\/sup> place to miss by a head and finish 2nd<\/sup>. She posted a 71 speed fig in the debut and I\u2019m almost certain she wants to run further.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n WILDECANDY (POP ROCK (JPN) x TWIRLING CANDY x CEE\u2019S TIZZY) \u2013<\/b> She won a 35K claimer going 4.5 furlongs on the dirt. Not a big accomplishment but a win is a win.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n MINION OF WAR (WAR FRONT x A.P. INDY x ALYDAR) \u2013 <\/b>He ran about as good as you can ask any horse first out posting an 85 speed fig. However, he just missed on the victory getting beaten by a head and finishing 2nd<\/sup> by a more experienced foe.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n FOREST SEA (OASIS DREAM (GB) x SEA THE STARS x FORESTRY) \u2013 <\/b>Picked this fella up out of the auction a few months back and was able to get him his first victory in just his second start with me. He\u2019d stalk the pace and do just enough in the stretch to get up against a group of 100K claimers.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n START THE WAGONS (NORMANDY INVASION x WOODMAN x JUMP START) \u2013 <\/b>Another auction buy who I sent to local 25K claimers going 6 furlongs on the dirt. She\u2019d go on to run a 64 speed fig in the 3rd<\/sup> place effort but probably needs to be given a cut in distance.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n Duds: <\/b><\/p>\n COPPER STOUT (DANSILI x MONSUN x MISWAKI) \u2013 <\/b>He broke the maiden on a deep close from 10th<\/sup> place in his debut and this week made his 2nd<\/sup> try at two turns. It didn\u2019t go well as he finished 7th<\/sup> by 7 lengths. I\u2019m not really sure what he wants to do as part of me thinks he wants longer, but the other part of me feels like I should move him back to sprinting.<\/p>\n GRONK SPIKE (CUPID x MACHIAVELLIAN x MALIBU MOON) \u2013 \u00a0<\/b>Speed fig got into the 60\u2019s for the first time in a while but despite the drop in class and the cut back in distance it wasn\u2019t enough to get him in the money. He\u2019d finish 5th<\/sup> by 4 lengths in another disappointing effort.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n PROSPECTTHIS (OPTIMIZER x PACO BOY (IRE) x BARATHEA) \u2013 <\/b>He\u2019s another who won in the debut but hasn\u2019t shown much since. This week he got a cut back to the distance he originally won at but once again didn\u2019t have the kick down the stretch finishing 5th<\/sup> by\u00a0 4 lengths. I\u2019m going to continue to move him down in distance at the same class level and look for improvement.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n GATLINBERG (IRONICUS x CHARISMATIC x MR. GREELEY) \u2013 <\/b>He was given both turf and dirt a go and is likely going to be dropped into claimers after this last performance at 8.5 furlongs. He\u2019d finish 10th<\/sup> in his 3rd<\/sup> double digit length loss posting a 67 speed fig.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n HITT THE LIGHTS (MICROMANAGE x INDIAN CHARLIE x MEDAGLIA D\u2019ORO) \u2013 <\/b>He\u2019s at least a grinder who shows steady improvement each time out. This week he was given 8 furlongs on the turf and finished 5th<\/sup> by 4 lengths. I believe he just wants more distance than is currently available to him.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n Watch List: <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n VIBRANIUM (RAVEN\u2019S PASS x RAHY x NIJINKSY 2ND<\/sup>)<\/b> \u2013 Ran two seconds in as many tries and will run 8 furlongs on the turf for the second time.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n WAKANDA SOHO (SEBRING x UNBRIDLED\u2019S SONG x A.P. INDY)<\/b> \u2013 I was very encouraged by the switch to dirt in her last but it looks like she wants to route which is why she\u2019ll be going a mile on the dirt this week.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n PROTON POWER (MACLEAN\u2019S MUSIC x TIZNOW x TAPIT)<\/b> \u2013Ran a great race going 7 furlongs against allowance NW2L\u2019s in a winning effort and \u00a0now comes back this week to run in the Homecoming Dance Dirt Juvenile.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n BLUEGRASS BLAME (BLAME x BLUEGRASS CAT x VINDICATION)<\/b> \u2013 He\u2019s run two really great races with his most recent posting an 81 speed fig going 7 furlongs earning him a 2nd<\/sup> place finish. This week he\u2019s going a mile to see if the distance puts him over the top.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n Debuting Two-Year Olds: <\/span><\/p>\n KAT D\u2019ORO (MEDAGLIA D\u2019ORO x STORM CAT x GONE WEST) \u2013 <\/b>Out of WESTERN STORMER,<\/b> this filly is trying 7 furlongs on the dirt.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n YUKON JAK (MORE THAN READY x A.P. INDY x UNBRIDLED)<\/b> \u2013 Out of SACRILEGE<\/b>,\u00a0 he\u2019s also giving 7 furlongs a go in his first try.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n DEFINITION OF CRAZY (PIONEEROF THE NILE x DANZIG x FORTY NINER)<\/b> \u2013 Out of XENON<\/b>, this guy will run 6 furlongs on the dirt in his debut.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n BLAZING PEGASUS (UNION RAGS x FUSAICHI PEGASUS x SADLER\u2019S WELLS)<\/b> \u2013 Out of REMEMBER PEYRESURDE <\/b>he\u2019s running 8 furlongs on the dirt in his debut.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n MUM\u2019S MOON (MALIBU MOON x DANZIG x MR.
