A short field for the boys are going a mile on the turf at Longchamp and the ladies take center stage in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />New York with two year old fillies and older fillies and mares on the turf. Lets get to the races. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Race: 3329.3515 Maudlin Cup – Grade I – $450,000
Track: Longchamp
Restrictions: All horses, 3 years old and up
Distance: One mile on the Turf

Just eight horses enter for the Maudlin Cup led by Deputation and Sadler Seeker. Deputation is one of those runners that can run on the dirt or the turf. He is more experienced on the dirt but she has won four of five on the turf with his worst finish being a second last time out where he lost by a head on the wire in the grade three High Lady Cup. Deputation flashes speed having the ability to set the pace or stalk from off the pace.

Sadler Seeker is coming off a grade two win last time out in the grade two Fried Rice Mile. Seeker is a four year old that looks to have a ton of talent. This could be a horse starting to put things together at the right time of year. He comes from off the pace usually eight or ten lengths off the pace. He will have to chase down his co favorite in this race which could set up for a good finish.

The Shining looks like the biggest threat to the top two favorites. Throw out the last race he probably needed that race to be ready for a top effort here. It was still a nice speed figure finishing out of the money in the grade one Jack the Man. Prior to that he ran a very good second in an allowance and followed that up with a very good listed stakes win. Maybe there is a class question here but he has the speed figures. He has no set style comes from off the pace or just off the pace.

Race: 3329.0414 Princess Di Cap – Grade I – $500,000
Track: New York
Restrictions: Fillies and mares, 3 years old and up
Distance: A mile and one eighth on the Turf

A full field of fillies and mares are set to contest the Princess Di Cap. Swift Kick will maker her turf debut after a Hall of Fame type career on the dirt. She is a five time grade one winner including the Bluegrass Oaks and the Breeder’s Bowl Distaff. She has been a great big race runner. Now she gets to try the green stuff for the first time and it should be an interesting watch. She is a stalker on the dirt and I suspect she will do the same here on the turf. If she handles the surface her class is no question so you have to consider her a threat to win here.

Angel Girl is the second favorite on the morning line. She is fresh off a winning effort in the grade three Other Spa. That race was slightly shorter than this race she closed from near the back of the pack to win by more than a length. Her better speed figures seem to be at a slightly shorter distance but her speed figures at this distance are good. She will be coming from off the pace and should be one of your contenders.

Wet Paint could be sitting on a big one. This mare put up five wins in a row before stumbling in her last two. That streak included back to back grade one wins at this distance and a mile and a quarters. She ran real nice speed figures and I think she will rebound off a her last two efforts. She will be stalking the pace and should be considered a serious threat.

Dynamin is one of those runners that kind of flys under the radar at this level. She has a nice record, She has won several stakes including a recent grade three and she runs solid but not extreme speed figures. She is honest she shows up most times and will likely rebound from a less than stellar effort last time out. She comes from mid pack, and will be several lengths off the pace. Keep an eye on this one.

High Ransom could be a runner ready to step up and be a force at this level. Prior to her last race I would never have considered her a threat in a race like this. When you run a 109 speed figure on your way to winning a grade one that will open a few eyes. Now she has to show that was no fluke and back it up with another good effort. She could be stalking the pace early.

Race: 3329.0415 Getaway Stakes – Grade I – $400,000
Track: New York
Restrictions: Fillies and mares, 2 years old
Distance: Seven furlongs on the Dirt

Two year olds are very hard to get a feel for especially this time of year. If experience means anything the runners in the two far outside posts should be highly considered. Dance Away Renee has won four of five races and is a grade two winner already. She is running eighties speed figures in her last two coming from way off the pace. She should enjoy the extra distance but could run into speed she can not catch up with.

Appeal This appears to have the kind of speed that can run away with a race like this. She is running really good upper eighties speed figures while setting or pressing the pace. She has already run well at the distance. She has never finished worse than second and should be a factor by a sire that is know for producing two year olds.

Let’s Get Rocked is stepping back in distance after breaking her maiden at a mile last time out with a very nice speed figure. The mare here was fast on turf but has not produced much to this point. Wait and see on this one could be in over her head with some of the other sprinters here.

Bamana is another runner running mid eighties speed figures. She has won two of her three starts finishing third just behind Appeal This last time out. She is a stalker and should be in a good position to do something here. She will be just off the pace, ahead of the closers with an good post, she could move forward.

[4

post-4668","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-general
["GET
