FRANCUA CHRONICLES 6-7-18 THROUGH 6-13-2018<\/b><\/p>\n
A good combination of claimed horses and newly bred horses going this week. Last week’s watch list is comprised of 3 claimers I got over the last couple of months and a horse that I bred and had hoped for big things from along with a gift horse. Also for the first time in a while I have back to back days without a runner\u00a0 \ud83d\ude25 on 6-13 and 6-14.<\/p>\n

Last Week\u2019s Watch List:<\/b><\/p>\n
ARCH SPUN \u2013 <\/b>Claimed for 15K I brought her back into the Allowance level at 6.5 furlongs on the dirt. She was in good position at the second call, but failed to fire late finishing 7th<\/sup> by 8 lengths. A move back to claimers is likely in store for her next out.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n PURPLER \u2013 <\/b>I took her out of local company for reasons beyond me and she didn\u2019t run nearly as well as she would have had I kept her with locals. She\u2019d finish a game 4th<\/sup> but it was clear she was outclassed from the start. Still she earned me $1,170 and 7 BPs.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n IN WAVES (ORB x BIG BROWN x CURLIN) \u2013 <\/b>Not much of a drop but took him out of special weights and put him in with 100K claimers. He ran a much better race his second go around stalking the pace and passing horses in the stretch. Really like what I saw out of him.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n QUALITY RAGS \u2013 <\/b>Claimed for 25K back in March she\u2019s had 3 races with me. She beat 100K claimers in her first start with me so I bumped her up to allowance company where she got a solid 2nd<\/sup> place finish. However, her 3rd<\/sup> run with me at the same NW4L allowance level didn\u2019t produce the same results as she never could find her footing finishing 7th<\/sup> by almost 5 lengths.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n DEL FRISCO (NOVELLIST x KING KAMEHAMEHA x HARD SPUN) \u2013 <\/b>She wasn\u2019t on last week\u2019s watch list because she was gifted to me 6-8-17 by jackworld<\/i><\/b> (Thank You!) but I figured I\u2019d write about her first race. I dropped her in with maiden 45K special weights on the turf going 6.5 furlongs. Based on breeding I got the sense she was going to want some additional distance and her first run all but solidified that as she\u2019d run 4 lengths off the pace for the entire race and finish 9th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n Studs:<\/b><\/p>\n QUIM<\/b> \u2013\u00a0 Should have included him in last week\u2019s post but I\u2019ll add him here. I claimed him for 10K back in March and he\u2019s run a total of 3 races for me finishing in the money in all 3. His most recent was a 2nd<\/sup> place finish with NW3L claimers. He\u2019s returned $5,100 and 59 BPs since being claimed.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n IMPULSE TO SWEAR (SWEAR (AUS) x FRAC DADDY x DYNAFORMER)<\/b> \u2013 I acquired a 10 cent share of SWEAR<\/b> and bred him to WHAT THE FRAC (FRAC DADDY x DYNAFORMER x STREET CRY) <\/b>who was a mare I had claimed for 15K and 30BPs. Getting back to the filly that ran, IMPULSE TO SWEAR<\/b> was dropped into a 5 furlong turf affair with 50K maiden claimers. She\u2019d go on to pay for both her own breeding and the cost of her mama in her first race as she\u2019d finish first by 1.5 lengths earning $16,320 and 50 BPs.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n MACGREGOR (MACLEAN\u2019S MUSIC x HARLAN\u2019S HOLIDAY x GALILEO)<\/b> \u2013 Named after the famed Irish fighter, this horse has a similar swag about him. His break from the gate was amazing and he never looked back. He would go on to wire the field in his debut with maiden 50K\u2019s at 6 furlongs on the dirt. Its also worth mentioning that he\u2019s posted the best speed fig of any of my two-year old\u2019s in their debut with a 78.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n CALM AGGRESSION (VAR x INDIAN CHARLIE x DEHERE)<\/b> \u2013 A 2 year-old filly who broke on to the scene running 5.5 furlongs on the dirt against maiden 28K\u2019s. She\u2019d also go on to wire the field in her debut posting a speed fig of 69.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n RHYTHYM SHOOTER (I AM INVINCIBLE (AUS) x DUBAI MILLENNIUM x SWORD DANCE)<\/b> \u2013 To top off a great Belmont Saturday this guy would go ahead and also wire the field in a 5 furlong maiden 33K turf affair. He showed some guts as he was challenged late by BEAT THE LIGHT<\/strong> but would hang on by a neck to win in his debut.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n ROBIX (HARD SPUN x ELUSIVE QUALITY x FOREST WILDCAT)<\/b> \u2013 I acquired a HARD SPUN share late in the week and figured what the hell, I have some decent DS and DDS shares already might as well breed him. The Hard Spun share produced a filly who jumped straight to the lead and never looked back in her debut. She\u2019d wire a field of 8 in a 6 furlong 16K maiden special weight on the dirt.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Duds: <\/b><\/p>\n SAINT AWESOME (QUALITY ROAD x SAINT BALLADO x AWESOME AGAIN)<\/b> \u2013 Jumped out to an early lead but couldn\u2019t sustain the pace going 6 furlongs on the dirt with maiden 50K\u2019s. He would end the day finishing 8th<\/sup> by 3 lengths. I don\u2019t know that the distance got him as much as the class, so he\u2019ll more than likely get a class drop in his next out.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n THOUSANDS OF YEARS<\/b> \u2013 Picked her up in the auction back in April and she\u2019s run three times for me. First run was a 5th<\/sup> place finish with 3.5K claimers on the turf going 6.5 furlongs, 2nd<\/sup> run was a much better 7.5 furlong run on the dirt with 15K claimers going 7.5 furlongs where she\u2019d lose some ground in the stretch finishing 4th<\/sup>, and her most recent run I cut her back to 5 furlongs on the dirt with local 15K claimers. Unfortunately cutting her back to 5 furlongs, I didn\u2019t give her enough distance to run and she didn\u2019t close very well finishing 4th<\/sup> by 3 lengths. She still got me 10 BPs, but I was expecting her to get in the money for sure.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n MAASIMO (INDIAN OCEAN x DISTINCTIVE PRO x HALO\u2019S IMAGE) \u2013<\/b> What\u2019s the definition of insanity? This horse\u2026 I keep trying him on the dirt in low level sprints and to no avail. \u00a0After the most recent debacle in which he finished 12th<\/sup> going 5 furlongs with 10K maiden claimers its time to move him back to turf to sprint with the low levels there. Or maybe I\u2019ll just send him to the auction.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n DISPLAY OF POWER (LIAM\u2019S MAP x EL PRADO x SUNDAY SILENCE)<\/b> \u2013 8\/5 morning line favorite in Maiden 16K\u2019s and she didn\u2019t have the stamina to go the full six furlongs. I thought this would be an easy spot for her in her debut but I was proven wrong as she\u2019d finish 4th<\/sup> by 3 lengths.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Successful Claims: <\/b><\/p>\n SOUL SERGEANT (OFFICER x VINDICATION x FORESTRY) \u2013 <\/b>She\u2019s been running in the high 90\u2019s with 17.5K claiming company and has never tried routing. I saw some success with her running against allowance horses last year so I\u2019m figuring to give her a go routing on the dirt with low level allowance horses.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n SPEARMINT POLO (PIONEEROF THE NILE x RAINBOW QUEST x HIGH TOP)<\/b> \u2013 I really liked the breeding on this 4 -year old filly and her past performances remind me of another horse I have who just broke his maiden THE MARVELOUS ONE.<\/b> Furthest she\u2019s run is 8.25 furlongs, but I\u2019m going to stretch her out and hope for improvement. If that doesn\u2019t work I\u2019ll find her a sire and get production out of her that way.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n FOREST SEA (OASIS DREAM (GB) x SEA THE STARS x FORESTRY)<\/b> \u2013 Picked up this gelding for 5K and 10 BP\u2019s. I think there\u2019s some talent here, but I think he wants a lot more distance then what he\u2019s been getting. He\u2019ll sit on the shelf for about 8 weeks before he gets his first go with me.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Failed Claims: <\/b><\/p>\n BRIDGE TOO STARDUM<\/b> \u2013 I have a complex when it comes to VERRAZANO<\/strong> sired claimers who haven\u2019t tried turf. For whatever the reason I\u2019m under the impression VERRAZANO<\/strong> is an underrated turf sire. I have no evidence to really back this up but just a feeling I get. Either way autumnridge<\/i><\/b> beat me out for this claim.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n ROCK PAPER SCISSOR<\/b> \u2013 Tried to claim this 6 year old mare out of SYMBOLI KRIS S <\/b>for 7.5K for the sole purpose of breeding. As it would turn out pilgrim3<\/i><\/b> also had their sights set on her and beat me to the punch.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n KATNIP<\/b> \u2013 Having raced 33 times at 4 year\u2019s old I think her best running days are behind her. A GRAYDAR<\/strong> filly I was planning to use to breed but ultimately lost out to rmk. <\/i><\/b><\/p>\n <\/p>\n STRONG PITCH<\/b> \u2013 Everyone and their mother seemingly wanted this gal as 7 of us threw our hats in the mix to get this 3 year-old filly out of AUSTRALIA x DANEHILL x KINGMAMBO<\/strong>. It was an odd placing for her after winning a 120K NW4L claimer at 10 furlongs she was dropped into 12.5K claimers at 8.25 furlongs. She didn\u2019t run very well with the cut back in distance, but I\u2019d imagine she\u2019d find her form with another stretch out again. My thoughts aside, she went to plainfield <\/i><\/b>where I\u2019m sure she\u2019ll turn into a nice little earner.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Auction Buys: <\/b><\/p>\n PLAYA HONDA<\/b> \u2013 3 year old filly out of BAYERN x STREETBOSS x VINDICATION<\/b> who I bought for 11K. I get the sense I can do some damage with her at the mid claiming level on the dirt.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n PUSH TO PASS<\/b> \u2013 A 2 year old $51 buy out of CREATOR x FORESTRY x SUNDAY SILENCE<\/b> made her debut on the dirt May 4th<\/sup> and has raced a total of three times since then. She\u2019ll get some much needed rest before giving turf a try in August.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Breeding Grounds: <\/b><\/p>\n KIWI STRATUM (STRATUM (AUS) x STORM CREEK x CAPTAIN RIO)<\/b> \u2013 She was one of the original horses I started the game out with and after 5 unsuccessful attempts at getting her a 2nd<\/sup> victory I\u2019ve decided its time for this 5 year old filly to hang it up. Her record finishes at 23-1-1-4 with earnings of $71,767.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Next Week\u2019s Watchlist: <\/b><\/p>\n Barring me doing any additional breeding this week I only have about 17 runners in the upcoming week. Most of the 17 have some major questions marks around them but none the less I do still have a couple I\u2019m looking forward to.<\/p>\n CALLOUS ALICE<\/b> \u2013 Claimed for 17.5K I tried her on the turf twice and didn\u2019t get very good results. Trying her back on the dirt at a lower level to see if I can get her competitive. If not its off to the\u00a0 breeding grounds.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n GRAYCENTRATED<\/b> \u2013 I didn\u2019t do her any favors in wheeling her back on 23 days rest and asking her to go the furthest she\u2019s ever run while on an off track against allowance runners. This go around she gets a little over 5 weeks rest a more reasonable 9 furlong distance while running with allowance company.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n FROST DANCE<\/b> \u2013 Ran well in 17K claimers and feeling some type of confidence I gave her a little too big a bump to allowance company\u00a0 in her last, where she wasn\u2019t nearly as effective. She gets a cut back to 20K NW5L Claimers in her next.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n EMOJI BOMB (MEDICEAN x NUREYEV x NODOUBLE<\/b>) \u2013 3-year old debut was at 8.25 furlongs where he finished 5th<\/sup> by about 10 lengths. He gets a cut in distance to 6.5 Furlongs with Maiden 39K\u2019s.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n STRATE CASH HOMIE (EFFINEX x STORM BIRD x VALID APPEAL)<\/b> \u2013 3-year old debut was a great first race closing on maiden 16K\u2019s at 6 furlongs to finish 2nd<\/sup> by less than a length. I gave her a little more distance at 6.5 furlongs and the same maiden level in her next.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Debuting 2-Year olds<\/b><\/p>\n GRUNGE ROCKER (ROCK HARD TEN x SEATTLE SLEW x MR. LEADER)<\/b> \u2013 Will go 7 furlongs on the turf with maiden 56K\u2019s.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n MIZZ (MIZZEN MAST x DUBAI MILLENNIUM x DISTORTED HUMOR)<\/b> \u2013 Will go 7 furlongs on the turf with maiden 56K\u2019s with local Kentucky breds.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n GENUINE OUTLAW (CURLIN x HARLAN\u2019S HOLIDAY x UNBRIDLED\u2019S SONG)<\/b> \u2013 Going 7 furlongs on the dirt with Maiden 45K\u2019s.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n MR PACQUIOU (MR.
