I love to watch the late summer two year old turf races. They are finding their footing and starting to stretch it out and we are finding out who the pretender and the contenders really are. We have a very small but very nice field here with lots of possibilities so let\u2019s take a look:<\/font><\/p>\n

(MOTIVATOR (GB) x GREEN DESERT x CARSON CITY) A very solid colt that is just a couple of lengths away from being undefeated having Graded and Stakes wins. In reality, he has a maiden win and is three for three on the board but with quite fast SPFs and is looking like a real find for trainer Deyoto4. He is being stretched out to a mile this time and I wonder a bit about that but it is something that needs done with these youngsters. He has Butts in the saddle and he has been at least capable this year so far. A few questions for this team. <\/p>\n

(SINGSPIEL(IRE) x ALYDEED x SADLER’S WELLS out of THEIR DEED) Four wins in a row on the grass for this colt and nice improvement each time out. A big jump to a mile this outing by trainer Mahvaros but so far the colt has taken to almost everything sent at him. He has Ross in the irons and he is one of the best, especially with these juveniles. We are talking about a top twenty colt here and I think he will be able to handle the extra distance and could be the frontrunner here with his stalking style.<\/p>\n

(AUSSIE RULES x AFFIRMED x FAPPIANO out of SHANNON\u2019S PAPOOSE) Not a lot to base this colt\u2019s outlook on as it will be only his second race. He won his maiden rather easily in a wire to wire run at this distance and is only one of two horses in this race with that on his resume. Trainer WhosWho has high hopes for this colt and would love to see him jump up in class and win here. Jockey Silver will be guiding and is improving on a solid rookie campaign this year. This colt will have to bump up his SPF to contend but the mile experience should help out.<\/p>\n

( MONTJEU (IRE) x RAINBOW QUEST x NORTHERN PROSPECT out of I LOVE TURF) This big colt nearly won his maiden then came back with a sizzling 84 SPF at a mile to win easily in a full field. He seems to like this distance and trainer WarEmblem1 has contracted jockey Ironside and his nice numbers to guide his young colt. His stalking style should fit well from this post position and I think that this is the team to beat. Keep your eyes on this one as he may turn out to be something special.<\/p>\n

You have to wonder when I am betting against a colt that has won four in a row! These juvenile races are especially tough to handicap but I am going out on a limb anyway! I like BUCK’S PARTY <\/b> to finish fourth but should be close at the end. I am interested to see how he does with the extra distance. I would love to pick AUTHENTIC FABLE <\/b> higher but the extra distance scares me. You never know how a youngster will respond in their first mile. It is hard to say much about WHAT RULES <\/b> except that he has already won at this distance. I am placing him second. I don\u2019t think that anyone in the race can compete with PORT ROYALE <\/b>. He certainly impresses me as the one to beat and I think he may win rather easily. <\/p>\n
