They will be going 11/2 miles on the turf course chasing the top share of the $500,000 purse.

Let’s take a look at today’s field:

1)KISS OF BETRAYL(IRE)—9/1—pm sends this 4 year old filly out of ROCK OF GIBRALTER(IRE) with a record of 21-6-6-0 and lifetime earnings of $1,393,103. She is out of the mare HARD ELF who was 2/7 at the track and who has 5 foals on record of which 3 are winners including 1 Graded stakes winner. This 1st divisional ranked filly races for the PM stables based in Ireland. This filly is a 3 time stakes winner who’s big day came last year when she won The Grade I Canada Turf in Ontario where she posted her lifetime best 101 speed rating as a 22/1 longshot winner. While she has never matched that speed figure she has has other top 3 finished in Graded stakes since. Her only win so far this season is in the 16 furlong Irish Spring Festival race which was a restricted allowance race. This filly likes to settle near the back of the pack early saving her best run for the stretch drive and should be charging hard in the lategoing today. The rider for today’s race will be Wyatt (24.2%).

2)THE I INSIDE—63/1—petermich sends this 6 year old mare out of CORONADO’S QUEST with a record of 20-2-7-2 and lifetime earnings of $158,016. This divisional unranked mare is the stablemate of #1 KISS OF BETRAYL(IRE) at the PM stables in Ireland. Both of this mares wins came in her 2 year old season on the dirt and in fact she has only started twice on the turf in her career finishing last in both of those races. Her top speed rating of 101 came in 2004 in The Grade II Pebble Flinstones Stakes on the dirt and her top turf speed rating is a 72 posted in a turf allowance in that same year. She ran in The Grade I Canada Turf in her last start which was 10 months ago where she appeared to injure herself at the 1/2 way mark and ended up distanced in last. While her best races came with her running on the front end earlier in her career she has also shown an ability to close but quite frankly it does not appear she is good enough to compete with these today which has been brought out by the hefty morning line odds. The jockey for today’s race will be Williams (2.7%).

3)WESTERN PASS—9/1—bomber93 sends this 4 year old filly out of PIKEPASS with a record of 25-8-5-3 and lifetime earnings of $496,149. She is out of the mare A. P. DINER who was 0/2 at the track and who has 5 foals on record of which all are winners including 1 Graded stakes winner. This 9th divisional ranked filly runs for the unaffiliated division of the Twoofuss stables. This 5 time stakes winning filly has 2 Graded stakes wins to her credit so far in her career. Her lifetime best 103 speed rating came in The Cecil Vest Memorial Stakes in Eastern Kentucky earlier this year over 11 furlongs on the turf where she finished 2nd. She came back in her next start to win The Grade II Saur Kraut Cup over today’s 12 furlong distance. She tried The Grade I The Tower Bridge stakes last time out but never fired trailing throughout and that race could have been a result of the bounce factor. She is another closer who sits at the back early and then charges hard in the stretch drive. The rider for today’s race will be Cameron (19.6%).

4)ROCK OF DANCERS(IRE)—30/1—petermich sends this 5 year old mare out of ROCK OF GIBRALTER(IRE) with a record of 18-4-2-3 and lifetime earnings of $133,054. This 1780th divisional ranked mare is the thid part of the PM racing entry that also includes the #1 and #2 horses in this field today. This lightly raced mare has one stakes win to her record which she won in her 2 year old season. She has posted 1 allowance win in each of the last 2 seasons but her best races appear to be in the sprints and in both of her 12 furlong turf starts to date she has only managed mid 70 speed ratings while finishing way back in the field. She did cut the early fractions when running last year in The Grade I Canada Turf and may be used as a rabbitt today to try and set up the race for her entrymate #1 KING OF BETRAYL(IRE) who would appear to have the best shot of the 3 entries here today. The rider for today’s race will be Carpenter (8.6%).

5)CACHE(SAF)—5/2—misery sends this 4 year old filly out of HORSE CHESTNUT(SAF) with a record of 18-5-5-3 and lifetime earnings of $1,054,313. This 6th divisional ranked filly runs for Dragnils SAF Connection based at the Alpine Turf Club. This filly has won 3 stakes races so far in her career of which 2 were Graded events including The Grade I KYHorseman Oaks in her 2006 finale. She also won the 12 furlong Grade II Petunia Handicap earlier this year. She posted her lifetime best 108 speed rating 2 starts ago while finishing 2nd in The Grade 2 Yabba Dabba Doo Handicap over 11 furlongs in Ascot. She has finished in the top 3 in her last 4 races which makes it seem like she is returning to form where she was top 3 in all of her turf starts last year. While she is another closer, she tends to sit midpack early in the race and then makes her big move in the far turn, and if she is able to get the lead in the stretch she will be very hard to beat today. She has been listed as the co-morning line favorite today. The rider for today’s race will be Cox (12.7%).

6)NATIVE SWAN—6/1—db sends this 4 year old filly out of CROWD PLEASER with a record of 20-6-3-6 and lifetime earnings of $313,847. She is out of the mare NUREYEV NATIVE who was 7/26 at the track and who has 4 foals on record of which all are winners including 2 Grades stakes winners. This 30th divisional ranked filly runs for the Dingleberry Farms based out of Kentucky. This 3 time stakes winning filly became a Graded stakes winner 2 starts back when she won The Grade II Sheepherder Beach Handicap Stakes in New York posting her lifetime best 102 speed rating over the 11 furlong turf race. She came back last time out in The Grade I Flounder Turf Distaff where she earned a minor cheque but did not fire and perhaps the bounce factor had a play in that result. Either that or this mare got confused with the daily riding instructions and settings as so eloquently described by this trainer in his latest btb article. She is another of many closers in today’s race and while she has not yet won at the 12 furlong distance she has won at the 10,13 and 14 furlong distances which would tend to indicate she will not have any difficulties with the distance in this race. The jockey for today’s race will be Wilber (8%).

7)NERF HERDER—8/1—fatflab sends this 4 year old filly out of MACHO UNO with a record of 21-8-3-5 and lifetime earnings of $576,748. This 4th divisional ranked filly runs for Jef’s Throughbred Club based in the NWRC. This 5 time stakes winning filly won a Grade I event last year in The Grade I Pensacola Oaks in North Florida at today’s 12 furlong distance. She was winless in her next 7 starts after that race, although she did have 5 top 3 finishes, but has taken her last 3 starts entering this Grade I contest today. All 3 of those wins came in overnite stakes races and she posted her lifetime best 101 speed rating in her 2nd last race in The 13 furlong The Clay Daisy Challenge Stakes in Wisconsin. She usually runs fairly close to the leaders in a stalking style race, sitting a couple of lengths back and then presses for the lead at the top of the stretch. The rider for today’s race will be De Berg (6.1%).

8)MAAD—5/1—sorrento sends this 4 year old filly out of MANILA with a record of 27-8-5-7 and lifetime earnings of $392,758. This 21st divisional ranked filly runs for the Jacklad empire based out of Queensland. This 3 time stakes winning filly will be looking for her first Graded stakes win today. She posted her lifetime best speed rating in her only other Graded stakes start to date in the 12 furlong Grade I Saur Kraut Cup at her home track right here in Queensland. She ended up 2nd in that contest as well as her last start in the restricted Memorial Cup Stakes also here at Queensland. She will have to face the winner of the Saur Kraut Cup in WESTERN PASS again here today. While usually a stalker running a few lengths off the early pace setters she has also shown that she can cut the fractions when needed. The rider for today’s race will be Kays (6.1%).

9)MAGICAL MIA(IRE)—5/1—boots sends this 5 year old mare out of GIANT’S CAUSEWAY with a record of 32-18-7-2 and lifetime earnings of $1,170,288. She is out of the mare SHAWNAE’S DREAM who was 0/2 at the track and who has 4 foals on record of which 2 are winners including 1 Graded stakes winner. This 2nd divisional ranked mare is based with the chatty group at the CR Racers. This mare has 12 stakes race wins to her credit of which 4 are Graded stakes events. She has posted both 6 and a 7 race winning streaks so far in her career and has finished in the top 3 in her last 11 starts. She comes into this race off of her lifetime best 106 speed rating while finishing 2nd in The Grade I Flounder Turf Distaff over 10.5 furlongs on the turf. Her co-morning line favorite CACHE(SAF) was just behind her in that race. Her racing style is that of a mid pack closer/stalker and if will be interesting to see what happens without an abundance of early speed here today. The jockey for today’s race will be Radke (17.7%).

10)DEPLOY THE BONE—15/1—ksparrow11 sends this 4 year old filly out of HUSBAND with a record of 27-10-5-2 and lifetime earnings of $148,618. This 145th divisional ranked filly runs for the unaffiliated Ksparrow Bone Stables. This filly was a $5,000 claim last year for her current owners and she promptly went on a 6 race win streak for her new connections while running out her tag. She has only missed cashing a cheque once in her life on the turf and has now put herself in the category of stakes winner after winning her last race, The 13 furlong The Crude Manoeuvre Bonanza Stakes last time out. She posted her lifetime best speed rating of 102 earlier this year while winning a 14 furlong NW4X allowance race. She will be making her Graded stakes debut here today. This top notch claim tried the front end for the first time in her career last time out where she cruised to an easy 4 length victory and with the lack of any real speed here today she could be the upset play if she gets to cut the fractions her own way here again today. The rider for today’s race will be Phillips (8.7%).

A great group of gals in today’s distaff turf route. I am leaning to play #9 MAGICAL MIA(IRE) off of her great record but may also put a wager on the #10 DEPLOY THE BONE who may not have the same class as some of these but if able to get loose on the lead may surprise this group at a big price.

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD RACING

THEO

[2

post-4532","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
