Welcome to Nevada on a beautiful warm summers day for the running of The Montecito Mile Grade III One mile Firm Turf $125,000 Fillies and mares, 4 year olds . A small field of seven great the starter in this. The field looks pretty even and a wide open race looks on the cards.
PP1 52934 COSMO GIRL theoc2 K Ladera 7/5
STORM CAT x GONE WEST x NIJINSKY II
This mare is beautifully bred and races up to her pedigree she is a multiple grade winner and has won 12 from 24. She loves a mile on turf and has won 3 graded races over this journey in her last 3 starts improving her SPs each times she looks right on top of her game at the moment. Won the G1-MONEY PHONE MILE at her last appearance four weeks ago in 1:34 with a 111sp . She has been well positioned in races by her trainer and she looks right for this. Races near pace and in a small field that should suit her.
PP2 131416 LINDT(AUS) rocky79 M Cooper 5/2
TESTA ROSSA (AUS) x DANEHILL x STAGE DOOR JOHNNY
Lightly raced mare who has won 7 from 9 . She has never been out of the money and has shown versatility in her racing she has won her last 4 in distances ranging from 6-8.5 f culminating in a win 2 weeks ago in the G1-Smackdown III sprint over 6f . She has raced well on short preparations before and should be right in this finish.
PP3 50701 CHOP NEVER STOPS jsimpson D Followed 5/1
GREEN DESERT x CAPE TOWN x STORM CAT
Nice runner from the graded placed mare CAPTAIN’S CATS who won 7 and over $300,000 in stakes. This mare has struggled of late in graded company but did win G1-Sun State Cup over a mile as a 3yrold.
Dirt race last time out may have woken her up a bit for this as often happens . Tree starts ago won the
St-The LA STORMY Memorial over this distance with a 104sp so she has a fine chance of being in the money.
PP4 47145 CLOSING COSTS cheadle P Campbell 8/1
AWESOME AGAIN x RAHY x RELAUNCH
Latest racing has been over longer distances than this with a couple of wins in last 5 starts. Performed well in allowances over this distance as a 3yrold in 2006 and may well go better back to this journey. May find a few of these a little to classy today.
PP5 87943 HI C AND TURKEY(IRE) sam812218 F Holmes 9/1
HIGH CHAPARRAL (IRE) x DIESIS(GB) x DEPUTY MINISTER
By the sire of the moment from the stakes placed mare GATES OF FIRE(GB) . Only win this distance was 1st up in a MSW . Did run a nice race 2 starts back in the G3-Lil’ Drummer Boy Handicap over 8.5f . Will improve with the racing and could win some good races around Christmas . Looks to be safely held here.
PP6 122145 JUST BEFORE AGAIN chuckrock V Jef 5/1
JUST BEFOREMIDNITE x AWESOME AGAIN x NORTHERN DANCER
By a little known sire but with strong female lines .
