This mile and a half Stakes for 3 year olds looks like it will be a fast track as the forecast is beautiful. The forecast for this $75,000 stakes looks good too as there are some evenly matched colts. Let’s take a look:

#1 Northern Rock trained by gregchilds – This former claimer by Rainbow Quest out of Forty Cat has Ax Williams up and has won 2 of his last three but is making a big step up here. He’s finished in the money 9 of his 13 times on the dirt but this is his first Stakes try and at a 7/1 morning line it doesn’t look like he’s going to get a piece of the pie here

#2 Asilomar trained by projectx – This Smart Strike colt out of Strange Moon is a stakes veteran with a win and triple figure speed. He’s a four time winner with over $93k in winnings over his 15 race career. Those used to seeing the brown colt flash toward the finish line were sorely disappointed last out with his 10th place finish only two weeks ago. He seems to have a habit of Yo-yoing his races though so this time he should improve.

#3 Forbidden Treasure trained by billgulch – Dropping down from Graded Stakes will do this Empire Maker out of Sunken Treasure colt well. He runs consistently on both dirt and grass and has earned over $386k in his 15 races. Has been running solid times lately but against stiffer competition without a win in 3 races. N Lawton will be holding the reins for the second time in a row and they both should know the each other better this week.

#4 Beneath the Stars trained by calle4 – Co-favorite Beneath the Stars is also dropping down from Graded Races. This beautiful brown colt has an Irish pedigree of Grandera out of Velvet Jungle. This Stakes tested colt has 4 wins, 2 in stakes and over $130k in earnings over 13 races. Tough trip last time out but this one has been better every other race and this is the up week.

#5 Death Dealer trained by yunkai – This nice Point Given Colt should make the race really interesting. It’s been so long since he finished out of the money that he won’t understand if he’s looking up at three horses behinds. He’s shown steady improvement until a tough trip two back when he may have stretched a bit after a claim. He should give the favorites all they can handle.

#6 Fragrant Son trained by kevoman4 – British Import Fragrant Son comes in as the 8/1 underdog but has won two straight stakes races with a 101 speed figure last out. The Mtoto colt out of Delightfully Smell looks ready to go after a three-peat. With R Foster in the stirrups he might have a chance.

I like the co-favorites about a nose apart with Forbidden Treasure just finishing ahead of Beneath the Stars. Longshot Fragrant Son will be tracking hard at the wire for third waiting for someone to stumble.

Good luck to all runners!

Paz

[2

post-449","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
