14 Lady’s line up for the Smackdown for fillys and mares ovew 11F on the Turf track here in Texas. Who will be left with the bragging rights after this one, and who will be left hiding from the winners grin…lets take a look at the ladys.<\/p>\n
PP1 – Coldwindblows – 43226 – Rank 106 – Jockey J.Frame(9%) from the Layoff Barn. Odds 29\/1.<\/p>\n
Been racing in 12Furlong Allowance races of late with average SP’s in the 80-90 range. She likes to come from mid pack and charge in lane.
Will need to bring her best to compete against some of these lady’s. Outside chance at best.<\/p>\n
PP2 – Shazamm – 13557 – Rank 2390 – Jockey J.Turner(5%) from the Jockeymax4 Stable. Odds 34\/1.<\/p>\n
Seems to really struggle of a route, but she is quite a decent sprinter. Her average SP’s are in the range 85-94. She likes to bowl along in front or close to the pace. There are a few leaders in this race which could make it tough for this girl.<\/p>\n
PP3 – Comfortably Pye – 15961 – Rank 267 – Jockey K.Little (7%) from the Bushmonste stable. Odds 13\/1.<\/p>\n
Been very competative in her races and is down in grade here. LTO had a comfortable win over 10F in an allowance race earning a 101SP which was her best SP in a long time. She likes to race on the pace which will suit given the pace here. She has a very legitimate chance of a prize here, but maybe not the major one.<\/p>\n
PP4 – Clever Empress – 22222 – Rank 20 – Jockey J.Webb (15%) from the Pjlracing stable. Odds – 14\/1.<\/p>\n
Forever the bridesmaid never the bride for this consistent mare. Loves the long routes in fact she may like it further than todays race. Has run 2nd in her past 5 starts all in stakes races. Best SP amongst them of 97. This Mare likes to lead which will be tough given the pace in this race. Has a top jockey aboard and should be there at the end, but might just miss out on a top 3 finish.<\/p>\n
PP5 – Stop the Groom T – 27592 – Rank 25 – Jockey J.Chapman (10%) from the Priceless stable. Odds – 12\/1.<\/p>\n
Down in grade LTO for a 2nd in an allowance race with an SP of 97, after being thumped in Graded races. Can lead or sit off the pace, with the latter being better suited here. Will need to be at her absolute best to be competative here and if she does she may be in the top five at the finish, but hard to see her winning this. Outside chance of top 3 finish.<\/p>\n
PP6 – Kgbeast – 31223 – Rank 27 – Jockey R.White (12%) from the Devil01 Stable. Odds – 9\/1.<\/p>\n
This mare loves the distance. She has won 2 and placed 6 times over this distance in her last eight starts. Best of those was 2 starts back when nse 2nd with a 102 SP in a stakes race at Italy. She can lead or sit off the pace and with a good jockey aboard either option should suit. She is in this up to her ears and has her eyes on the major prize. Big chance for the major prize….Sure top 3 finish.<\/p>\n
PP7 – Hail to the King – 11341 – Rank 21 – Jockey K.Smith (9%) from the redturkey barn. Odds – 16\/1.<\/p>\n
This mare loves the wet and her owners must have been preying for rain. Unfortunatly the rain didn’t arrive, but she is adaptable and has run well on Good to Firm. Runs in the low to high 90’s SP wise. Likes to sit off the pace and produce a big finish. Last run over this distance charged for 3rd in a stakes race at Louisiana (90) SP. Will have to lift it up a notch to be cpmetative here, But she has a Bolters chance of some minor spoils.<\/p>\n
PP8 – Empire Reef – 52312 – Rank 12 – Jockey C.Shoemaker (25%) from the Lenny13 barn. Odds – 7\/2 Fav.<\/p>\n
Very good mare and favourite her for good reason. Suprisingly she has not raced past 10 Furlongs, so if looking for a negative that could be it. Bred to suit this longer distance. Been racing in Grade 1’s last 3 starts with a win and 2 places. LTO ran 2nd over 10F in G1 with an SP of 104, coming from well back. She sually leads so last start was a bit of a suprise but given the speed her she might try that again. If she can get the extra furlong look out. Top jock aboard only enhances her chances. She should win this easily. But in racing anythings possible.<\/p>\n
PP9 – High Ransom – 71112 – Rank 356 – Jockey V.Waddle (12%) from the batesy stable. Odds – 15\/1.<\/p>\n
Very nice filly this one. Bombed her only try over this distance when 3rd with an SP of 77, however she may have matured scince then. Best at 9 – 9.5F. Her best race came 3 back when 1st over 9.5F in an allowance race with an SP of 102. Can sit and sprint or race near the lead. If she has matured enough to tackle the distance again she should be a major player. However if the 77SP is an indication that she can’t, well you get the picture. Chance.<\/p>\n
PP10 – Nexis Rainbow – 22164 – Rank 19 – Jockey S.Vaughn (9%) from the Zambeygo stable. Odds – 19\/1.<\/p>\n
Loves the longer routes, and probably better suited at longer than this. She loves to get well back in her races and produce a big finish. SP’s are in the 87 – 92 range which suggests that she may struggle here. If she produces a huge run an outside chance of a place.<\/p>\n
PP11 – Vouvray – 37213 – Rank 28 – Jockey P.Henderson (9%) from the Rx7 stable. Odds – 8\/1.<\/p>\n
Another very nice filly. Over awed in Graded company but has flourished back to stakes company. Two starts back she was 1st over 12F in a stake race with an SP of 101. LTO ran 3rd over 10.5F in a Stakes race with an 102 SP. Those are her two best SP’s and she is improving. Sits on the pace and she looks to have an outstanding chance. If the favourite faulters look out for this one.<\/p>\n
PP12 – Laphroaig – 21313 – Rank 30 – Jockey M.Brown (13%) from the Waremblem8 stable. Odds – 11\/1.<\/p>\n
And yet another very nice filly with an unusual name. She loves to route. Been very competative in Graded races of late. 2 Starts back she was 1st over 12F in a Stakes race with an SP of 100 in Arizona. LTO ran 3rd in a Grade 2 over 12F 94 SP. Leads or sits on the pace. If she can produce she has a shot at a minor prize, but would need to jump out of her skin to win.<\/p>\n
PP13 – Captivating – 22163 – Rank 177 – Jockey B.Carlson (9%) from the Peeps3 stable. Odds – 6\/1.<\/p>\n
Very capable filly who looks well placed here. Been racing very well in Stakes races over varying distances between 9 – 14 Furlongs. Won 7 starts back over 11F in a Stakes race with an SP of 98. She can run triple digit SP’s though, which she did 3 starts back winning over 9F in a Stakes race (106 SP) coming from off the pace. This should suit her ideally. Big chance of taking the prize here.<\/p>\n
PP14 – Fusaichi Krissy – 11212 – Rank 69 – Jockey J.Lucas (9%) from the Danmancan stable. Odds – 5\/1.<\/p>\n
This is a very nice mare (Could be a Champion). She is at her best on off tracks but also capably on dry. Only had the one start on the Turf, which was 2 back over 11F with an SP of 101 (Good Track). She led all the way that day but can sit and sprint. Only concern for me is the lack of experience on the Turf. If she can reproduce that effort on the dry track, she could be the one. Huge chance of taking it all here.<\/p>\n
Okay, nice for the tips in a very tough, even affair. Plenty of pace should suit those sitting just off the pace, but could also set it up for the swoopers. Therfore I think 13 – Captivating can win. 8 – Empire Reef if she can run the extra furlong for 2nd and 14 – Fusaichi Krissy for 3rd.<\/p>\n
