Several races are carded featuring various ages and distances and the top finishers are awarded points accordingly. The G.R.Simsters have dominated this event in both of the previous years match-ups. This year they hope to continued their feeding-frenzy against up ‘n comer NWRC and the disbanding D.U.R. Apparently breaking the hearts of only one residency each year wasn’t enough for them. While the D.U.R. recieved a “closing notice” from management a short time after accepting G.R.’s invite, they have held to together enough to sprinkle the fields, but are a major underdog in this competition. But the NWRC on the other hand has snowballed in to a force the last year or so, picking up the “dog” and all the top cats from NEXIS to go along with it’s solid core veterans. Perhaps they can give the Simsters a run for their money. We’ll see… Now on to the races>

The Smackdown 3 Classic has attracted a stellar field of fifteen runners to go a mile and a quarter over what is projected
to be a “fast” dirt course. The winner will recieve 3 hundred grand, but more importantly, garner the bulk of the beloved
points. Three of the SIMs top 12 Classic runners are entered here. That’s why “Horse of the Year” SOLAR SONG is
only the tepid 9/2 morning line favorite. Let’s disect the field and see just what we’ve got.

Race ID:3287.1011
Race # 11

— Owner Restricted
Stakes
A mile and one quarter
Fast Dirt
$500,000
All horses, 4 years old and up — RESTRICTED TO PARTICULAR OWNERS

PP Horse ID Horse Owner Jockey Odds
1 86174 LENO’S CHIN kingmambo Pa Williams 18/1
2 118626 CANNONBALL FREAK(IRE) mcsheen B Carlson 25/1
3 84460 SOLAR SONG squirrel4 C Shoemaker 9/2
4 7557 OPEN THE GATE deantroops R White 6/1
5 79523 PACIFIC AVENUE firfight10 J Lucas 12/1
6 103925 NEW FOUND CYCLONE ydrbargain J Webb 8/1
7 48149 GRAND SLAM BG snappa T Meeks 15/1
8 117151 PURRFECT PROSPECT stevemunoz M Brown 12/1
9 16096 HUSSLED funster N Kelly 26/1
10 12125 AWEGUSTUS theagakhan G Ashbaugh 10/1
11 109104 MANIUS THE MIGHTY waremblem1 V Waddle 24/1
12 74401 A.P. His last Stakes win was in Oct 06 and that
also was the last time he’s passed a horse in the stretch. With all the other classy speedsters signed on
in this event I don’t see him hanging around at the wire, but his presence will make probably make it impossible
for anyone to steal this race.

2> CANNONBALL FREAK(IRE) mcsheen B Carlson 25/1> (PEINTRE CELEBRE (IRE) x SUMMER SQUALL x FIT TO FIGHT)
He’s very light on wins(2) and experience against the likes of these. While he does show some triples
(3 digit speed figues) in his P.P.’s, his last two races beyond a mile have resulted in 85 & 87 numbers. Next>

3> SOLAR SONG squirrel4 C Shoemaker 9/2> (DEPUTY MINISTER x NUREYEV x BOLD RULER)
“Horse of the Year” in 06 is currently ranked #2 in the entire Sim for these conditions. Comes in to this a pair of
110 numbers, while being bested in shorter Grade Ones. While he’s obviously not qutie the same horse that won
five Grade 1’s last year, a simulence of his A- Game will make him tough to beat. Gets perfect pace senerio.
Looks to go over the 10 million in earnings mark with a victory!

4> OPEN THE GATE deantroops R White 6/1> (JUMP START x DISTANT VIEW x RAJA BABA)
The second choice on the line draws right outside the favorite. This one brings four straight triples and some nice tactical speed in to the race. I can envision him sitting just behind the fading leaders and getting first run on the closers. With that said, he was well beaten by SS in the Bowl and his best race showing at this distance was a win that was clocked 1 3/4 seconds slower than the favorites. Wants to turn the tables.

5> PACIFIC AVENUE firfight10 J Lucas 12/1> (GRAND SLAM x SUMMER SQUALL x BUCKPASSER)
You have to throw out his last effort completely for him to have a punchers chance in here. And if you look closely
at the P.P.’s you can do just that. The last time he threw in a clunker he ran lights out in his next start to miss by a nose. At this distance too… Food for thought?

6> NEW FOUND CYCLONE ydrbargain J Webb 8/1> (NEWFOUNDLAND x NORTHERN DANCER x MR. PROSPECTOR)
He’s ranked #8 and has amassed a hefty bankroll of just under three million. He just missed winning a Grade 2 turf
event at this distance last time out. Not really sure why it took him 16 months to get back on the surface that he was previously perfect on, but it’s likely because he’s proven to run with the best of them on the dirt too. He’s another that will look to avenge the common Breeders Bowl defeat and with that grassy tightner, he just might.

7> GRAND SLAM BG snappa T Meeks 15/1> (COZZENE x MR. PROSPECTOR x STORM CAT)
This one comes in to this off of two very sharp efforts in which he posted credible numbers. He also has five wins
and four seconds in his last nine mile and quarter runs since being claimed for 25K eleven months ago! Nice.
But here’s the bad news… Those were all allowance and starter races. He’s never, ever even ran in a Stakes race in
29 race career. Now asked to compete against multible Grade One winners. Very nice claim, but watching this go.

8> PURRFECT PROSPECT stevemunoz M Brown 12/1> (PLEASANTLY PERFECT x MR. PROSPECTOR x STORM CAT)
He’s been ultra consistent, finishing in the top three 18 times in his 20 starts. He’ll be seriously tested for class today, as there are no Graded attempts on his dance card and his numbers appear a tad light compared to the better ones signed on in here. May be closing for a minor award.

9> HUSSLED funster N Kelly 26/1> (HUSSONET x UNBRIDLED x ILE DE BOURBON)
That fast closing second in his last race was one of his better efforts of late. That was on an off track in a much shorter against a much softer group then he’ll face here. While he does show a Grade 2 win, that was 18 races ago and he’s been beaten by a combined 50 lengths in last two Graded runs. Looks like he was hoping rain.

10> AWEGUSTUS theagakhan G Ashbaugh 10/1> (AWESOME AGAIN x UNBRIDLED x SADLER’S WELLS)
He’s three for three when the going is off, but there’s no such forcast here. But he’s lightly raced and has banked some serious coin in his short career. Despite the fast track, he’s still got some nice numbers carded and looks like he has a very smooth running style. The jock can put him anywhere early and he has the look of a “live” long$hot.

11> MANIUS THE MIGHTY waremblem1 V Waddle 24/1> (KINGMAMBO x SEATTLE SLEW x ALLEGED)
This longshot blew up toteboard two back, wiring a Stakes at 21-1 odds. He’s comes in with three straight triples
wasn’t embarassed in his last race, finishing fourth in a Grade 2. But he may be compromised here with two
other quality runners intent on the lead signed on and his inability to pass horses in the stretch. Pace casualty?

12> A.P. PRECEDENT squirrel3 J Chapman 13/1> (A.P. INDY x CHESTER HOUSE x POLISH PRECEDENT)
This one gets little respect at the windows, but seems to always try hard. That 112 number two back would probably
garner the top prize here. Unfortunately, this race is at a much more trying distance and I’m just not sure I see
enough in his P.P.’s that says he can threaten the best of these going this far. Watching.

13> SPECIMEN X peeps4 P Henderson 14/1> (FUSAICHI PEGASUS x NORTHERN DANCER x SEATTLE SLEW)
Every race needs an X-Factor and here’s ours. This regally bred, lightly raced colt has done nothing wrong so far
in his ten race career. While very patiently trained, he’s won half of his ten races and finished second in four
others. His only off the board finish was on the sod. He’s the sharp fresh face here, but this is going to an acid test.

14> ACT OF GOD lenny13 R Fav 9/1> (EMPIRE MAKER x A.P. INDY x MAJESTIC LIGHT)
This millionare has running heavenly of late, posting five straight triples and eight of his last nine if you go back
further. He hasn’t ducked any of the big dances, with Graded events sprinkled all over the place. He comes in to
this off of a nice prep win against lesser Stakes foes too. With all that said, you’d think I would be high on his chances. But here’s the rub. He’s had ten races at this exact distance and if he ran the best race of those… he might get third.

15> ENDURANCE KEY geewestink K Little 7/1> (SAKHEE x FORTY NINER x MARFA)
Instant respect for this one after that last race. It was a nice second in his first try against Graded foes at this exact distance. He was able to show a new dimention, coming from just off the leaders to run a very nice second, while
posting a lifetime high figure. He absolutely relishes thid distance. His four speed numbers? 105,105,105 &113!
This eleven time winner should be right there all the way around. A Must use.

Okay… Let’s Pick ’em>>> 15/3/6/10 “Just My Opinion” GOOD LUCK & enjoy this great race!!!

[2

post-4476","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
