35%. With just 17 starts the numbers are going to be volatile and overall it was a decent week but still. Keep your mouth shut in chat!

Tale of Six Crowns went into the auction before last week’s column. He ended up selling back to roxyken’s thechallenge2 stable for $18,332. You may remember that I picked him up in a $4k claim. Didn’t do bad on the money side but still out 8 bps.

Ballingry started off the action this week, making his second start for the stable. He of course was picked up for the high sum of $28,000 in auction and won his first start for me on 3/3 in a Japan-local allowance. The three year old ran back in the same conditions (open allowance 4.5f turf, 3yo only) on 3/14 and he was a winner again. He nabbed 25 bps for the stable this week for a total of 65 in two weeks. He’s entered again in another race under the same conditions soon.

Harry Parker is an Idaho bred that I claimed from….roxyken (sorry!) on 2/17 for $7,500. He had 37 starts with a 10-8-4 record. He had run a few races with the local tag but not many and he was the favorite in the race I claimed him out of. Harry exited the same race as another spinsanta2 horse, Funny Mambo. Funny Mambo actually won the race and Harry was third. His record also indicated that he could run dirt and turf, sprints and routes. I entered him in a local-bred open allowance going 9.5f turf. The race attracted eight runners and Harry ran an ok fourth, earning 10 bps. He stays another week.

Marimacho is another name you might remember. The PA-bred filly ran 3/1 in a local bred claiming race on dirt where she finished 2nd. She ran back on 3/15 in a turf claimer going a 13f against an eight horse field where she finished a well beaten 4th. That was good enough for 10 bps, bringing this auction purchase’s earnings up to 40 bps.

Wonderlights is a four year old from Japan. He made his first start for this stable on 3/3 in a local bred allowance. He seemed to have a bright future, winning the race with a 100 speed. Sadly there were no suitable local bred races to send him back in so on 3/17 he ended up in an open allowance in Turkey. He ran close to the same speed (a 98) but it was only good enough for 7th place. He’s currently little groggy so there’s some question as to whether he’ll have more options available in the future. If not he’ll be sent back to auction.

A new face in the stable is The Countdown Ploy. She’s a 3yo filly by Savabeel, one of my favorite sires in New Zealand. I found her in a $4k NW4L claim in Indiana where she was a short priced favorite. She won that race by over two lengths and would be an easy moneymaker without the local tag. I probably didn’t look at her dam before putting in the claim but she was produced by a Montjeu x Kingmambo mare who has produced nine foals (The Countdown Ploy is her youngest). She’s got one grade three winner and three listed winners to her credit but all the rest of her foals have won at the allowance level. I think this filly could turn out to be a very good claim long term. She’s not particularly fast but she’s young and she’ll have opportunities to run in local championships races eventually, maybe getting her dam another stakes winner. First things first though, send her to New Zealand to run in a local bred allowance for 3yo fillies going 4.5f on the lawn. The race attracted two other player owned horses and a CPU filly and our girl won handily. That nets 40bps easily paying off the 8 she cost and the New Zealand world is her oyster.

The first ever starter for spinsanta2 – way back on 2/24 was Pine Grove RCH. That day he finished 4th in a 4.5f dirt claimer for California breds, earning 10 bps. He ran back on 3/17 in a 7f local bred claimer on turf where he ran a creditable 2nd with a 96 speed which added 20 bps to his total. Not bad for a cheap auction horse!

The biggest disappointment of the weekend was Cardinal Mission. She was making her third lifetime start in a $2500 NW4L claimer for Louisiana breds. Yes she was facing males and yes she only had one previous lifetime win and yes she was 107/1. But against 6 other runners I really thought she had a chance to finish 3rd and in doing so win the tip a horse contest for me. Oh well. She was last by 15 lengths and didn’t earn a single bp for me! The nerve of her.

The last race came from Funny Mambo. He previously ran on 3/11 where he finished second in a NY-bred starter allowance but running back on 3/17 he could only manage 4th in a similar starter. He led most of the way but was passed in the stretch and came out of the race tired. Interested buyers should look for him in the auction where his current price is a mouth watering $1. He did earn an additional 10 bps for the stable for his effort. That brought the total earned by this horse up to 40, although as a $7,500 claim he did cost 15 to acquire.

So after week three the stable is running 17-6-3-0 which is 35.3% wins and 52.9% itm. Current earnings stand at $213,910 and 345 bps. The best stat that I like is 14 of those 17 runners have brought home some bps in their outings. I picked up two new $1 auction buys this week but currently have no open slots to place them in. Stay tuned.

At one point this
