MY FIRST 30 DAYS IN THE SIM<\/span><\/p>\n

Wow, first off I would like to tip my hat to the person that came up with and developed this sim.\u00a0 It is super complex over many different layers with 1,000\u2019s and 1000\u2019s of different iterations that all seem to be meshed together seamlessly.\u00a0 I am sure there are probably a few snags here and there that a NEWBIE has not figured out just quite yet, but all in all it seems to run pretty smooth on a daily basis.<\/span><\/p>\n

Secondly, I want to mention that almost all of the veteran players have been very helpful to me as I have tried to get going.\u00a0 Seems like this is an all-around good bunch of people to be associated with.\u00a0 MARMAC, who got me off and running when I could not figure out which end was up and gave me my first gift horse.\u00a0 Then on his advice I discovered the chat room (Very Good Advice) where I have met several very knowledgeable and generous people.\u00a0 Among them AWK and SPINNY (who I now know is female\u2026\u2026.sorry again SPIN).\u00a0 I enjoy just observing the conversations of more seasoned players to see what they think is important.\u00a0 When I have questions, I ask but for the most part I just shut up and read.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thirdly, upon the advice of VALESA I joined a residency.\u00a0 Being new I thought how can I contribute and why would they want me in their group.\u00a0 So at first I just avoided that section of the game.\u00a0 Again to my surprise I found more people willing to help a new player out and seemed glad to have me as a part of their team.\u00a0 Thanks RIC480, EHR, AMIR and SUMMERSET for letting me join the ERC – ELITE RACING CLUB just in time for the EQUINICS.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When I first created my account I decided that no matter what I would not spend any REAL CASH playing this game, have gotten burned on a couple of app games having to spend real hard earned cash.\u00a0 Then I found that the BLACK TYPE BUGLER would pay you credits for writing articles.\u00a0 Since I enjoy doing that kind of stuff anyways and you need credits in this game \u2013 I am now doing race previews.\u00a0 Which again helps out in learning how to play the game, you can observe the different strategies of different owners with how they handle their horses.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Then came the EQUINICS what a super cool event and to have it happen right at the start of my sim career.\u00a0 This just cemented the fact that it was right to be part of a Residency.\u00a0 Hopefully I can get one of mine entered in 2020 but only if they deserve to be there because I want ERC to knock off GR SIMSTERS next time.\u00a0 We tied with them on the TURF now just got to get our DIRT program together.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other valuable things I have picked up so far: Don\u2019t send a horse you have already raced to the farm just so you can transfer to a different stable (Yes I already have created 4 stables \u2013 this game is way too much fun) unless you just want to watch them sit around your farm.\u00a0 You all make it tough at the Auction to get a Female for players that don\u2019t have a lot of sim dollars.\u00a0 I have been trading my sire cards up at that first chance I get and am going to hold out till I get higher cards.\u00a0 I think I have to give my horses a little more time off between races, especially my 2 year olds, can\u2019t afford to burn them out they are the best I got.<\/span><\/p>\n

I personally am not in the horse game in the real world as I have come to learn that some of you are.\u00a0 I have a little experience at going to the track, we used to make 2 or 3 trips to DRC in Detroit every summer before it closed down to take my chances at the betting windows.\u00a0 After that we only had the harness up here so reluctantly I would go to Sports Creek 5 or 6 times a meet (It was closer than Detroit).\u00a0 So I think I have at least enough knowledge to help me read the racing form and be a little dangerous to my bank balance.\u00a0 For about the last 20 years I have made a small wager on the KY Derby every year.\u00a0 I have a friend that makes the pilgrimage every year.\u00a0 I usually pick a horse for an across the board bet and then we team up to play a 5 or 6 horse superfecta wheel (which we have never hit \u2013 YET!).<\/span><\/p>\n
