These articles will give you some quick commentary on the runners you will see contesting the races, as well as some bold predictions.

Highlighting todays card is the Local Championship Stakes for three year olds and older, going a mile and a quarter over a firm turf course. Let’s take a look at the contestants below.

Local Championship Stakes (Post Time 9:00pm)

3yr Olds and Up

10 Furlongs – Turf

#1 DUMPSTER DEB (3-1) – One of three fillies taking on the boys tonight. Sired by Vertiformer for trainer bsben4. Nice come from behind runner that shows a long list of local trips. Battled Local Stakes company in each of the last two and didn’t disappoint, nabbing a couple of place tickets. Found herself too far back in the last one. Today’s cutback in distance should help and looms a major threat in deep stretch.

#2 PIERWSZY RAZ (5-1) – It seems all this one does is run in Local Stakes action. Trainer frosty brings this veteran of the track back to Ohio for another attempt at a Stakes win, already sports wins in them on both dirt and turf. Does his best work on the front end, which he should inherit unless the #5 goes with him. Been better on dirt than turf recently. If he doesn’t fire out front, he has no chance at winning.

#3 IDIOTEQUE (5-1) – This 3yr old filly by Default, takes on the boys for the first time and Stakes competition. She’s a nice, improving gal out of the barn of ramsay. Been traveling a little recently, and is only making her second attempt in local company. Her numbers fit really well in here, but must prove she belongs with these. By the G3 winning dam SOPHOCLES II, so you know she’s got the pedigree. Will look to stay mid-pack and make one run. Interesting!

#4 COWTOWN DREAMER (4-1) – Took a big class drop last out for trainer john7897, and it paid dividends with a 5 length romp in a local allowance over 12 furlongs. Back to local stakes company now, after showing some attempts in three G3 races across the pond a few races back. The competition should be to her liking, as long as she doesn’t mind facing the boys, which this will be her first. Another with late kick that will loom large in the final stages.

#5 WILMYWOOD (5/2) – The old timer of the bunch is sired by Chelsey Cat, trained by tgerk2. Somehow gets the morning line favoritism after fading in each of his last three efforts, two of which were in local claiming events. Has speed, but has also shown good tries just off the pace. Jockey must gauge the #2, and decide. Last stakes win came against locals on November 24, 2012. Seems to prefer sprinting. Leaving off my ticket.

#6 POCKY WAY (6-1) – Another horse in here sired by Vertiformer. This ones a little different though as he’s had no success on the grass as of yet in his career. 0 for 2 in his runs on turf, losing by 18 and 13 lengths respectively. Ran second last out in a NW4L claiming race in VA. He’s still eligible for NW2L restrictions and will be overmatched in this one. Not today.

#7 MONT INGE (18-1) – Gets the kite award for being the longest odds on the board. Trained by jipper, and sired by Default. He’s a 3yr old colt that is still a maiden. Eligible to improve in only his 9th start. Tried local stakes last out, at 2 miles, where he hit the board but finished over 26 lengths behind the winner. Ran a 97 two back, with a hard closing rally to finish 2nd, beaten by a head. Could get a piece late.

Swami Selections: 1 – 4 – 3

Hello, and thanks for reading the Buckeye Blitz, your premiere insider to Ohio racing.
