Today in Dubai the fifteenth race on the card was the Grade III Ecliptic Stakes, run over a mile and one sixteenth on the dirt for four year olds and up. The race drew in a total of ten contenders for the race. At post time all horses loaded easily into the starting gate without incident, calmly awaiting the start of the prestigious race.
Out first, leading by just one-fourth of a length was hills owned Fight For Freedom who was leading longshot Rook, trained by nikolai, in second. Running back in third was Skeleton Keymaker, owned and trained by scoobzilla. Battling in fourth and fifth were Sadler’s Gone West and San Pellegrino, trained and owned by lostcode and super12 respectively. Out of the gate as his custom was Tete Volante, owned by kartango, who was trailing by eight and one-fourth lengths.
Fight For Freedom increased his lead to a half a length over Rook who was still running behind in second. One and one-fourth length back was still Skeleton Keymaker. Sadler’s Gone West and San Pellegrino still charged on in fourth and fifth. Trailing the pack at the second call was still Tete Volante, now back by twelve and a half lengths off the leader.
Coming into the turn Skeleton Keymaker made his move and was now leading the field by one and three-fourth lengths with Fight For Freedom now in second and longshot Rook in third, but now struggling to keep up with the pace and dropping back. San Pellegrino was beginning to make his move under jokey H. Harzheim and was now gaining in fourth with Sadler’s Gone West right behind in fifth. Moving up into sixth was bookworm owned Salutations. Moving up into seventh and eighth were Big Blue Cat along with Credit Granted, trained and owned by stalmanu2 and brentuk respectively. Back in ninth was Berryhill Place owned by tobe. Not having a good day and not firing in the stretch was Tete Volante, still trailing the leader by thirteen lengths.
The field came home to the wire and it was San Pellegrino to take the win by two and three-fourth lengths with an impressive speed figure of one hundred twelve. Along in second was Skeleton Keymaker with Salutations in third.
