For what I shall explain in this article and follow up with reports until the series end could well involve some readers. Should I carry out this process with anonymity of the subject stable, or leave the book open at the risk of those who perhaps may wish to interfere in a negative manner. How you may ask? It will become evident as time passes. When the hammer fell, and it was time to begin writing I thought it best to take the ‘open book’ approach so the stable can be studied by those with an interest.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Our aim with this project is to produce as many BP’s as possible, using sim cash as our main source of supply. This does not mean we will not use any BP’s, but those that are used will be at the minimalist level possible. The stable I’ve chosen is uluru. Two reasons, it’s the poorest performing of my stables at only 1.4% winning percentage(something I assure you will be considerably better at the end of three months), and it has a solid base to begin with, 222BP’s, a little cash, and a full roster of ten horses of varying ages above 3 years old.

* Just a quick side note. With all modesty, a winning percentage of 1.4% for me is pretty disgraceful. This poor stable is 2nd to bottom in my stable list and unfortunately has been horribly neglected. By the time I get to this stable I’ve usually entered fifty or more horses, and am heading into ‘I’ve had enough’ territory.

What is needed to begin with is the creation of a very simple spread sheet, or if this isn’t an option, notepad and pencil will do the job just as well. As is common knowledge horses with no travel penalty will collect breeding point for places first through fifth. Therefore each horse’s performance must be evaluated. Given BP’s down to fifth, that’s the average we need to attain. Using lifetime performances in this case is unfeasible; I therefore tend to concentrate on the last five runs. By adding all five and dividing by five is obviously the way of achieving this average and our preferred result should be five or less. The worst performing horse of the stable, with an average of above five will be either disposed of or dropped in class if this is an option. Those unable to drop in class but not the worst performer will have a little ‘reprieve’ if you like, and be given the opportunity to improve, hopefully for them before they do become the worst performer.

CIRCLES OF DESTINY – Current average 4.8. Currently sitting very close to the ‘bubble’ and will be disposed of, especially since having not yet won a race and stuck in maiden claimers.

COPHEE – Current average 10.2. This one is very close to disposal with consistent poor performances and no real likelihood of improvement in the near future.

PEDRO SCOOTER – Current average 8.4. Not a ‘pretty’ average and not the worst by a long way. Has the option to run in cheaper claimer before getting tossed out.

EIGHTY NINE LAUNCH – Current average 11. A poor performer currently, and will return to claimers, after a two race allowance attempt.

LADY RUDE – Current average 8.2. Not the worst, but competing at the bottom end of claimers, so little else to go other than out the door, if the average doesn’t improve.

BLUE SPECTRUM – Current average 11.6. Yet another poor performer, but currently running in high end claimers, so will have the opportunity to improve with a drop in class.

OUR TUFFTIME – Current average 4.9. This old fella is in the safe zone below five.

* Now is a good time to mention, as is the case with the above horse, that it’s advisable to only take into consideration runs that have only occurred whilst under the banner of the current stable. At the same time still divide the total by 5, it gives a bit of time for the horse to prove his worth, and time as a trainer to find his best surface and distance. Additionally, so often is the case, a horse will perform poorly running for one trainer then suddenly turn over a new leaf for the next, winning races for no other apparent reason than a change of trainer.

ANGEL KISS – Current average 8.3. Still able to drop in class to low end claimers, this horse probably is a few races away from the chop.

CHATROOM ADVANTAGE – Current average 6.0. With a drop back to claimers this one should have no trouble getting into the safety zone and staying there.

IF I ONLY KNEW – Current average 2.2. Only one race in this stable, hence the very low average. Not enough, data to make judgement yet.

Uluru has no runners this week so the axe can fall on the worst performer now. Blue Spectrum will be our focus of improvement. He will drop to low end claimers, to see if his performances can be bettered in the short term. At this stage he will not be disposed of, but if that were to be the case, I shall explain the process.

A horse who has an average of less than five, and is at the bottom of claimer ranks, must be disposed of, they will not be generating BP’s and will be taking up a valuable slot in your stable. Unless the horse in question has extraordinary regal breeding lines, by this point in time they will be of little value to anybody other than perhaps the original breeder who may have an emotional attachment. The auction of course is the place to do this, the following week, but we need to create something of more value than what we have to offer. The best return I have found for the smallest outlay, is a random bred to replace the ‘worthless’ horse. For a reasonably bred mare I may just breed over and allow her to join my retired mare listings, but more often than not I will return horses to the horse pool, primarily taking advantage of the breeding discount, but also to allow someone who may still desire ownership of the horse to do so through a new stable.

In the past few weeks I have had 3 of 5 un-raced random bred colts and fillies sell for over $100,000. One in fact easily cleared the $200,000 mark, instantly creating valuable sim dollars. Uluru was not the receiving stable in these cases but I expect similar results when the time comes.

* This subject, and the purchases I plan making were the area I was concerned about regarding disclosing the name of the stable. I ask folks, please, carry out your auction transactions as if I were not writing this column. Deliberate and negative interference creates false results, and possibly messes with an interesting subject that may be of valuable use to a new player, or an experienced player looking for a new angle.

Next week I shall post on Sunday after the races have been run to give a progress report, and explain what we’ll be looking for when it comes time to fill a vacant slot in our stable.

[4

post-4174","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-general
["GET
