A couple already have some raced under their girth but most are first timers. Hope springs eternal and it is always exciting to run them early in their career and see what kicks out. Let’s take a look:

#1 SPOTLIGHTER(JPN) trainer – Scout4, ( 14/1), Jockey – B.Callguire (2%), Earnings – $0
This AFLEET colt has one previous race where he ran a credible 58 SPF but finished down the track on the dirt. Trainer Scout4 is giving him a go on the grass and it may suit him. The post seems to be wasted as he sat near the back in his last race. Jockey is struggling this year, needs to improve.

#2 GET IN THE QUE(JPN) trainer – Zz2912, ( 23/1), Jockey – S.Zerr (18%), Earnings – $0
A rare colt by TIMBER COUNTRY, this big brown colt will be making his debut run for Trainer ZZ2912, a brand new stable with only four races under it’s belt. It is under the Magoo Lodge of Stables though and that speaks well for it’s future. Jockey Zerr is in the irons and is quite capable.

#3 JOHN LONG GUN(IRE) trainer – BCumming1, ( 60/1), Jockey – P.Smith (13%), Earnings – $0
Brown colt out of TRADITIONALLY who has only one other runner in this years crop. Trainer BCumming1 is part of the Billy2Shoe Stables and has one of the track’s best jocks up in Smith and he is having a better than average year. It should help to pull this youngster around the track.

#4 COSMIC UNDER FIRE(NZ) trainer – StingLikaB, ( 98/1), Jockey – V.Ching (14%), Earnings – $0
This colt is by Aussie Sire SAVABEEL and is also making his debut circuit. Trainer StingLikaB is still looking for the first win for this young stable which runs under the Teejay Racing Stables umbrella. Jockey Ching has seventeen years experience and seems to keep getting better. That should even the long odds somewhat.

#5 SISSON’S GERMAN(GER) trainer – BinzaMan02, ( 9/1), Jockey – S.Wooley (7%), Earnings – $3,864
In this MONSUN’s colt’s previous race, he led most of the way and just finished to third by a mere half length. Should be a challenger here and Trainer BinzaMan02 would love to see that second race improvement. Jockey Wooley has certainly struggled and may just hold on and let the colt do the work.

#6 CRIMSON WELLS(IRE) trainer – JockeyMax, ( 4/1), Jockey – P.Kelly (18%), Earnings- $30,000
Okay, let’s see now. You have an incredibly bred SADLER’S WELLS chestnut colt who won his first race with a 73 SPF. You have JockeyMax as trainer with a 24% win rate and one of the best horses in the game in his stable in MAMBO WILDCAT and you have Kelly in the leather with one of the best jockey percentages at the track. How do YOU think this colt will do? 

#7 PUTNEY NEW FOUND(KY) trainer – Pigeon7, ( 15/1), Jockey – G.Mitchell (10%), Earnings – $6,875
This colt from under utilized sire NEWFOUNDLAND ran a strong second place finish in his premier race last time out with a solid 69 SPF. Trainer Pigeon7 of the Pigeon1 conglomerate is bringing him along nicely and he may ride along with the leaders and see if he can hang on at the end. He should be in the mix.

#8 RUBY DOOBY(AUS) trainer – AvaSheen4, ( 5/1), Jockey – R.Ellison (10%), Earnings – $0
An Aussie bred chestnut Filly that wants to kick up her heels with the boys in this coming out party. She is by REDOUTE’S CHOICE and trainer AvaSheen wants to see what she can do on the grass here. You have the ever capable Ellison holding the reins and his eleven years experience should do the lady well.

#9 NEVER SAY SORRY(AUS) trainer – Markan, ( 59/1), Jockey – B.Hollier (7%), Earnings – $805
The second race for this BEL ESPRIT colt. He finished in the money with a 53 SPF and a fourth place finish in a short field. A second race bounce would be welcome for trainer Markan of the Billy2Shoe group of stables. He has Hollier in the saddle and there are rumors circulating about reasons for his poor season where his is operating at half efficiency.

#10 SPELL ESPRIT(AUS) trainer – Fleet1, ( 14/1), Jockey – F.McKenzie (12%), Earnings – $25,590
The elder statesman of this bunch, this BEL ESPRIT colt has already raced twice and won his maiden with a quick 76 SPF before finishing fourth in the TURFY TOTS Stakes last time out. If Fleet1 can get him back to that first race speed he will be a strong contender under the management of jockey McKenzie. Watch out for this team.

#11 MORUBAZOL(ENG) trainer – CeClaim7, ( 10/1), Jockey – C. Shinkle (14%), Earnings – $0
This GENEROUS colt with the interesting name will be running for the first time and trainer CeClaim7 of the Royal Belgian Kempen Farms has to be excited about the prospects. Nicely bred and with top jockey Shinkle holding the reins, there is no reason to doubt that this colt should hit the board. Nice odds for an exacta as well.

#12 CYCLONE LAGO(AUS) trainer – Snappa5, ( 5/2), Jockey – M.Goldsbury (19%), Earnings – $0
Another Australian bred here and quite a breeding it is. (ENCOSTA DE LAGO (AUS) x DEPUTY MINISTER x STORM CAT) The Snappa Racing Syndicate has high hopes for this brown colt and with Goldsbury and his magic hands holding the reins there is no reason to believe that they won’t jump to early success, perhaps even in this race.

#13 DI MARADONA(ARG) trainer – KPacker, ( 53/1), Jockey – H.Harbert (13%), Earnings- $0
The morning line hasn’t been kind to this first time racing colt. The LUHUK offspring is trained by KPacker of the Billy2Shoes Stables and has a quality rider in the saddle in Harbert. He may be enough to get this little guy into the top half and with these youngsters anything can happen at that point.

#14 LADY DANEWIN(AUS) trainer – Fevola, ( 99/1), Jockey – Q.Dumas (7%), Earnings – $2,600
This chestnut DANEWIN filly is back on the grass after a nice showing on the dirt in her last outing. This will be her third race which is more than most of these youngsters experience combined. The morning line hasn’t been kind to her and Fevola and the Kingdamo Stables group would like nothing more than to prove them wrong. Jockey Dumas is not having one of his best years and that is saying something because his best years weren’t that good.

#15 RED TAPE(JPN) trainer – BMR005, ( 23/1), Jockey – D.Aldridge (10%), Earnings- $0
If you look at the first year sire of this colt, RULE OF LAW by KingMambo you will see that he has already thrown 25% winners. That bodes well for this colt trained by BMR005 although most of his offspring have dirt runners. They have Aldridge holding the whip and that looks good as well with a nice win percentage. That all adds up to good looking longshot.

#16 KING OF INDY(SAF) trainer – Roberto, ( 10/1), Jockey – T.Brewer (19%), Earnings – $17,760
This nicely bred chestnut colt (KING OF KINGS (IRE) x A.P. INDY x MILL REEF) has already experienced some nice success with a maiden win and a third place finish in the TURF BABIES BALL Stakes. Trainer Roberto of the Theatrical Stables has brought him along nicely and is looking for the big colt to make the next jump. With the guidance of Brewer in the leather, that is a distinct possibility if they can over come the outside post and the big crowd.

Morning Line = 12-6-8-5
Paz Picks = 6-16-12-8-5
I like CRIMSON WELLS to win and after that it is a coin flip. With unraced two year olds, who knows. I love to watch the youngsters and it sure is nice to say “I was there” at some point down the line when one of them breaks out into a world beater but I sure can’t pick ‘em this early in the season. It should be fun!

Good luck to all runners!

Email your comments to pazjazz.btb@gmail.comI love to hear from you!

[2

post-4163","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
