Today in Queensland came the running of the Queensland Juvenile over six furlongs on the turf. True to predictions the turf track came up firm for the running of the fourteenth race on the card. The field of eleven two year olds loaded nervously into the starting gate, tensing for the moment the gates would open.
As the gates opened, out to an early lead was the lone filly in the race, Terri Irwin<\/b>, owned and trained by hardygirl<\/i>, who took a half length lead over longshot Outta Ransom (NZ)<\/b>, trained by hawkzbarn<\/i>. Running behind in third was okdokey<\/i> trained Speed Pass<\/b>. Running in fourth and fifth were Gotta Rush (IRE)<\/b> and Rainbow Reflection (ENG)<\/b>, where are trained and owned by hawkz2<\/i> and tigerman<\/i> respectively. Out of the gate sluggishly and trailing the field early in the race by three and three-fourth lengths was Shenefield<\/b>, owned by laronista<\/i>.
Terri Irwin<\/b> then increased her lead to one length over Outta Ransom (NZ)<\/b>. Moving up into third now was Gotta Rush (IRE)<\/b> with Speed Pass<\/b> falling back into fourth. Still in fifth was Rainbow Reflection (ENG)<\/b>. Beginning to make his move now was favorite Boom Gate (ENG)<\/b>, owned by thegeneral<\/i>, and passing up bucephalus<\/i> trained Buddenbrook<\/b>. Still trailing the field now six and a half lengths back was Shenefield<\/b>.
At the third call of the race it was Terri Irwin<\/b> still in the lead but losing ground now and only leading by one-fourth of a length over pre-race favorite Boom Gate (ENG)<\/b> who was gaining ground quickly. Coming from near the back of the back was Septic Squall (ENG)<\/b>, trained by sozzled<\/i> who was now in third. Dropping back to fourth was Gotta Rush (IRE)<\/b> and dropping into fifth was Outta Ransom (NZ)<\/b>. Speed Pass<\/b> had now dropped back into sixth, just two lengths off the pace. Rainbow Reflection (ENG)<\/b> had dropped into seventh with Buddenbrook<\/b> in eighth. Beginning to gain ground and showing great speed was dowelly3<\/i> owned Danescay (AUS)<\/b>. In tenth and also quickly gaining on the rest of the field was Iousome (AUS)<\/b>. Still running along at the back of the field nine furlongs off the front runner was Shenefield<\/b>.
Then the eleven horse field came running towards the wire and it was favorite Boom Gate (ENG)<\/b>, owned by thegeneral<\/i> to take the win by one and three-fourth lengths over Septic Squall (ENG)<\/b> in second and Danescay (AUS)<\/b> taking third.
