\nThe Elite Racing Club kicks off its 2017 monthly stakes schedule with the Ghostzapper from Newmarket Racecourse in Newmarket,\u00a0 Suffolk,\u00a0 England,\u00a0 home of the 1000 and 2000 Guineas. \u00a0 A field of five three year old club runners,\u00a0 including a lone filly,\u00a0 will battle it out over\u00a0 ~ 1200 meters (or six furlongs for the state side fans).\u00a0 for the winner’s share of the $100,000 purse on tap.\u00a0 The winning connections will celebrate at the brief trophy presentation,\u00a0 and the winning trainer will earn the lion’s share of the club stakes bonus points awarded after each club event,\u00a0 which will ultimately decide the club champion at the end of the year. <\/span>

\n2016 champion harrylan tries to get off on the right foot with his grass runner returning to the dirt;\u00a0 club co-founder jbcri has a strong hand with the only stakes winner in the line up;\u00a0 dontbetonme also switches his charge from the green to the dirt.\u00a0 Club co-founder amir returns his stakes placed filly to the dirt and mightyforego gets in on the action with a speedy dirt runner. \u00a0<\/span>

\nThese young horses can be quite unpredictable as they are still growing and learning.\u00a0 This looks to be another close affair,\u00a0 which almost all of last year’s club events were.\u00a0 Let’s take a closer look at them in post position order and see how they compare. \u00a0<\/span>
