All will be racing for a $50,000 purse on turf over 5f in what looks as if there are five or six main chances. Some of these colts look to be crack sprinters whilst others look as if they may need extra ground, but in the only way possible to plot there success, the ten of them will line up on Saturday under the watchful eyes of their trainers.

After much infighting and unsubstantiated accusations, the time for talking has finished as we edge closer to a start. Here’s how they will line up.

PP #1 – SNIPER’S AMBUSH(IRE) – MONTJEU (IRE) x GREEN DESERT x ROBERTO (Lefranse) 5/2
This colt is a full brother to boom 3yo colt and Conglomerate glamour boy, Paycheck. Sniper’s Ambush will be looking to follow in his brothers footsteps with a debut on turf this week in what trainer Deyoto Lefranse hopes will be the start to another grade winning champion. Montjeu has three winners from twelve races this year with two of those wins run on turf at SP’s of 63 and 73. All looks positive for this colt however the trainer has selected his stable jockey R Dogs to ride this week in what looks a major weakness as he has only two wins at 6.5% for the year. Should run ITM this week.

PP #2 – INDYGUN(KY) – MINGUN x NUMEROUS x A.P. INDY (Aggulotto) 20/1
Finished mid-field but was well beaten in the DUR Shane Warne Classic in 3133 and will probably need to improve here. Sat close to the speed on debut before fading so hopefully the slightly shorter trip will help. Heavily inbred to both A.P. Indy (2SX3D) and Seattle Slew (3SX4D) who have generally both been predominantly used as dirt routers. Sire Mingun has two winners from ten races so far this year and although not the greatest jockey, N Fagan will be looking for his tenth win this year at 8.5%. Prefer others.

PP #3 – STORMAVATOR(ENG) – MOTIVATOR (GB) x MINING x STORM CAT (Nog) 5/1
Game dam had two wins, both on dirt at sprint distance and being inbred to Mr. Prospector 3DX4S indicates he may like to sprint. Motivator progeny have had only one win from seventeen starts this year but he has sired the monster 3yo colt Shadow Creek who won five times as a 2yo on turf. From the hawk43 stable which after almost ceasing operations during last year, has just undergone a clean out and have now implemented a dedicated breeding program aimed at taking on some of the glamour trainers in the Conglomerate. Jockey has twenty-one years experience and is three wins at 11.5% this year. ITM for this fellow.

PP #4 – HEARTWOOD RAGER(IRE) – SHAMARDAL x RED RANSOM x SEEKING THE GOLD (Lefranse) 5/1
Trainer pulled no punches when asked about the breeding of this colt and his chances of claiming this race. He believes that Heartwood Rager is a champion in the making commenting that his breeding is rock solid and he will back it up on the track. Second year sire Shamardal has been used predominantly on turf and has produced three winners from twenty-two races this year. Two of those wins have been on turf with SP’s of 62 and 74 and with D Evans aboard, all looks set for this colt to either fall hard or to further encourage the mouth from the border. Tipping him as the winner.

PP #5 – CRYPTOVATOR(ENG) – MOTIVATOR (GB) x CRYPTOCLEARANCE x KINGMAMBO (Aggulotto) 17/1
Didn’t fire a shot on debut when nailed by nine lengths in the DUR Shane Warne Classic. Faded badly in that race finishing a half length behind Indygun and both colts must improve to be in this. Breeding suggests he may want it longer than this and he will be tried on dirt next time out if he fails to fire a shot here. N Hartel is seventeen wins at 10% this year.

PP #6 – BUCK’S PARTY(ENG) – MOTIVATOR (GB) x GREEN DESERT x CARSON CITY (Lefranse) 7/1
The third Motivator colt in this race has P Lipps aboard who has sixteen years experience and is seven wins at 15.6% this year. Looks as if he wants it longer than a sprint but would not be surprised to see him sprint well. Stable mate of emerging gun colt Credit Addiction, Buck’s Party could run very well here and if he handles the turf, I think he can run in the first five.

PP #7 – BLOODY INVINCIBLE(IRE) – INVINCIBLE SPIRIT (IRE) x CONQUISTADOR CIELO x SEATTLE SLEW (Nog) 5/1
Out of game dam who won three dirt sprints in fourteen races and ran ITM seven times, recording a win in her 2yo season. Totally outbred within five generations, Bloody Invincible looks an unknown here but based on breeding, I am leaning towards him being a better sprinter. Invincible Spirit has twelve 2yo progeny so far this year with a filly who won on turf at 6f as his only winner in fifteen races. His highest earning progeny is the boom 5yo horse Once Upon A Nog, who after twenty-one races was claimed from Captain Nog by fellow Conglomerate big time trainer Gianluigi Aggulotto for $3,500 and has gone on to break 100 SP and win back to back races. Will be an interesting runner.

PP #8 – GENTLE NOG(AUS) – RESET (AUS) x CONQUISTADOR CIELO x DANZIG (Nog) 5/1
Game dam won a race as a 2yo at 8f on turf in what may prove a good guide to this colts chances. Reset has seven progeny this year who have raced ten times for just the one win on dirt. Jockey aboard this week B Smith has just a win from twenty-two races and will not help Gentle Nog get to the line ahead of many horses. Tipping him to finish worse than mid-field and prefer others.

PP #9 – LOST INNOCENSE(AUS) – KEMPINSKY x STRATEGIC (AUS) x NOT FOR LOVE (Vansheen) 31/1
As seems to be the case with all Vansheen runners in the two preludes, Lost Innocense is a long shot at 31/1 and just happens to be the only colt from the Vansheen stables. In fact, the truth is that his beautiful daughter Ava has had to rush this colt through pre-training just to avoid imminent embarrassment for her dad after it looked as if he would not have a representative in this race. After the horrid scenes at last weeks swimming, authorities are looking into claims that Vansheen allegedly pressured Ava into clearing a spot in her stable just to breed the colt in readiness for this race. First year sire who’s five progeny have raced six times for two wins both on turf. Prefer others. Investigation continuing….

PP #10 – INSANITY PLEA(KY) – TOCCET x HONOR GRADES x VICE REGENT (Aggulotto) 10/1
Purpose bred to win this race, Insanity Plea will be partnered by J Kohlmorgen who has thirty-three wins at 15.4% this year. This stable mate of Indygun looks poised to carry out orders and win this race down the straight at Flemington. In his third year as sire, Toccet has been used predominantly as a dirt sprinter and has one winner from four progeny this year. I am confident he will be a better sprinter however with the additional dirt sprinting influence from Honor Grades, I expect him to be at his best on dirt. If he handles the turf I would expect to see him run top five.

Well that’s the wrap on the race.

Suggested Bets:

Heartwood Rager each way.

Box trifecta – Heartwood Rager, Insanity Plea, Buck’s Party, Sniper’s Ambush, Stormavator.

[2

post-3924","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
