Race of the Day: Indiana 9/12 Claim

The Spotlight feature is a 6 furlong claiming race that is restricted to three year olds that are non-winner of three races in their lifetime. Of the eight entered, half the field has won two races in their career with the remainder only one. This is a dirt event and only for the fillies to be raced on a fast track. The claiming price for any of these ladies is $6,250.

1 MOB’S MONEY 13/1-Has had a disastrous time since leaving Hot races back in March, losing by double digit lengths in last four races at a scattering of distances from 7.5 furlongs up to 11. Drops back to shortest distance in long time for this one but not sold that it will make much of a distance but the drop in claiming levels could help some. Still, looks like an outsider.

2 YAMB KITTEN 3/1-Race sponsor brings in horse that comes off a win on this track with her early speed. She’s won two of last three starts and the distance looks to be one of her favorites. Grabs one of the top spots in this race.

3 POWERBALL MILLIONS 11/1-Broke maiden in last showing rare late speed and putting away a mini-field of entrants. That race was at mile and only try at that distance. Moves back to sprint where she’s winless in 9 starts. Mile might be her distance and could be running late is the formula she needs. Tough call here. If she runs late, may be a spoiler.

4 VIOLENT EMPIRE 5/1-Claimed early in the year and has since raced five times in allowance company, beaten badly in each effort. Takes notable drop in class back to cheap claimers and should be more competitive at this level.

5 STRONG VOODOO 5/2-ITM nearly two-thirds of the time in sprints, she returns to the shorter distance after a poor outing at a mile but competing with older horses. She tends to pick up minor spoils with fourth and fifth place finishes but could do a bit better with the weaker group in this field.

6 BWTHREE 9/2-This season, two of her top three speeds have been earned over the Indiana track. She’s been ITM 8 of 11 starts in sprints and makes first start after a break of just over 2 months. May need this start to regain form.

7 ITXASPE 10/1-Makes fourth start of season and third in claiming class. Drops in the ranks but doesn’t look like it will make a huge difference after last competing with older horses and finishing at the back side of the field mixing it up with the $10,000 claiming group. Still, this level makes sense for the entrant but may proof to be better on the grass than the dirt.

8 WASTED CARDS 9/2-This lady tends to compete early in the race but has issues staying competitive when it counts. She recently returned to dirt with some decent grass outings earlier this year. She takes a huge drop in the claiming levels and that could reek an improvement in results.

Yamb Kitten has had nice results lately and looks to be best in form, gets top pickings.

Violent Empire gives up the allowance level where she was well over matched. Should find this level more accommodating.

Wasted Cards also taking a nice drop, could walk off with a paycheck.

The Spotlight feature is a 6 furlong claiming race that is restricted to three year olds that are non-winner
